Not only is this Sonic as we remember him, with all the familiar powerups and rings to collect, there are also plenty of new additions to keep the experience fresh. It's a fantastic rollercoaster ride, and although it's short, it's everything we hoped for in a sequel to the classic 2D platformers.

It plays differently from the classic games for sure, but it works well and is plenty of fun. Really solid 2D Sonic overall.

It was just a fun pick and play kind of game. I enjoyed some of it's gimmicks especially in Lost Labrynth Zone with its Donkey Kong mine cart sections and those areas where have to balance that ball. I've also found it's weird FNAF or early 2010's look, but maybe it's just nostalgia. It still has some issues like walking to slow, the last stage was annoying and the physics feels like they just shoved in the physics of Sonic Rush and called it a day. I wouldn't its a top 10 game or anything, maybe around a 24 to 30th spot when it comes to ranking them.

Sonic 4 represents everything that any fan of the franchise could ever wish for: a marvelous level design and a gameplay that proves, once again, to be one of the finest examples of intense platforming.

This game was not perfect, but It is still great sonic fun. People are too critical, sonic is a very hard game to make you have to make very long stages since sonic moves through them so quickly and still keep them enjoyable. The physics just don't bother me, If you play a sonic game how it's meant to be by racing through the levels quickly you won't have time to notice imperfections in physics. I agree the magic of the original sonic games still isn't here but It's a damn good effort and I will always welcome more games like this over 3d sonic adventures. Please give me more 2d sonic games and more chances to earn chaos emeralds!

Altogether I feel like it's a great throwback to old Sonic games, but at the same time I wish it was a little more refined and had removed some of the annoyances I had with the previous 2D Sonic games.

With a toe-tapping soundtrack, glitzy presentation and obvious accessibility, Sonic 4 Episode 1 has much to be proud of. Gamers who recall the early nineties and yearn for a simpler time when true 3d was restricted to bad sci-fi movies should lap this title up, but there's definitely a sense that it could, or indeed should have been more.

The new title feels like it was made by someone who has only ever seen Youtube videos of the 2D Sonic games and taken a very poorly educated guess on how it should control.

A great game that should of been made years ago. It has it own unique physics problems but it has amazing graphics, okay music, cool bosses, and overall its a really good game. Of course people are going to judge it anyways but the game dosent ****!

deve funcionar para os fãs do mega drive, porém o jogo não é pra quem gosta do novo sonic, e os graficos do sonic são muito feios por conta da iluminação, quando o sonic apnha ele fica imovel e isso é bem irritante

This first episode of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is a good little game. Even though some of the level design isn't as good as it could be, it's stuck in between two styles (old Sonic and new, which doesn't work) and I';m not a fan of the final boss, it remains a good little game. 74/100.

...this game is not good, bad level design, reused bosses, average graphics, average soundtrack, basically a regression to the 2D formula, oh and the game's story?.... it doesn't exist! It's literally a regression in everything, bad game.
