Feels like a real return to form, with well-designed and vibrant environments matched with varied, exciting challenges throughout.

Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice is surprisingly good with a level design that actually takes advantage of the speed the character has.

I was surprised by how great of a pickup this was! I heard it was welcoming to people who aren't good with platformers, and it's been years since I've played one, so I went on a limb and got Fire & Ice. It was immediately fun and engaging. I 100%-ed the game and loved every bit of it. Sonic is the absolute best character and there's no reason to use anybody but him unless you have to switch, and the game is on the shorter side, but I think Fire & Ice deserves the praise of a 10 for making a decidedly positive turn for the series.

Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice is a new entry in Sonic’s franchise for Nintendo 3DS. The gameplay is fast and fun: there are plenty of stage types and many characters to choose, each with his unique skills. But the game seems way too easy, with too much advice and unlimited lives. It’s a good game overall, but not the right one to celebrate Sonic’s 25th anniversary.

It’s not the new Generations (that we’re all waiting for), but faithful fans of the series should be moderately happy with it if they can endure a subpar level design. [12/2016, p.77]

This isn’t the smartest, most exciting or most imaginative 2D platformer you’ll find on the 3DS. In fact, Sega seems hell-bent on hobbling its chances with a selection of tedious or frustrating mini-games...Yet, overall, Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice isn't bad, dishing out the kind of rollercoaster looping, spring-heeled madness that first made us love the little fella. It’s a high-speed sprint in the right direction; it's just a shame about the missteps on the way.

Once again, Sonic is a true disappointment as the speed is not quite here, and if you try to get the most of it, you won't be able to explore and find hidden items. A game aimed at youngsters maybe?

It isn’t the first game that had something to prove, and many others have come and surmounted all obstacles put before them. This latest entry into Sonic’s legacy simply failed to do so. While the game works well (I experienced no bugs whatsoever), it’s just not very fun to play. The story lacks substance, the action is slow and very by-the-numbers, and there is no real challenge at any point. The Sonic franchise has been in a rapid decline and it needs a game that will reinvigorate the series and restore faith from fans. Unfortunately, Fire and Ice is not now, nor will it ever be, that game.

The game has 5 characters and each has its own mechanics. Each character can be changed at any time causing the game is not repetitive. There are also some minigames. The game is fun, has beautiful scenery and good gameplay.

Finally a decent Sonic Boom game. Not perfect, but way better than Rise of Lyric and **** Crystal

I think this might be the worst game I've ever played. Not for bugs or anything, but gameplay wise it's really bad. Slow paced, really boring level design, running and pull down doesnt roll. Felt like one of tbose knock of IOS games where they're "Sanik Hedhehog Runner"

This is the worst sonic boom game ever. Even sonic the hedgehog (2006) was better than this. I didn't enjoyed it at all. Sure it's a 3ds game but it could've been better. There are a lot of 3ds games that worth buying. Don't buy this game.
