The graphics stick to the boundaries set by its predecessor and only improve and smooth out. Although everything takes place in a dark fantasy world drowning in fog, the depiction of the world in watercolors makes the game almost beautiful. [Issue#319]

I found that the best way to approach them was to cheese my way to victory. This left me with the feeling that I was exploiting the AI rather than using skill to overcome adversity. Think long and hard if this is the game for you, but for this reviewer, it isn’t something I will likely never pick up again.

By implementing too many popular elements from famous games in the wrong way, Salt and Sacrifice is a game that feels unbalanced throughout.

Genial.

Прошел salt and sacrifice.

Although the first was better, this is still a lot of fun to play in coop. I don't understand the hate for it.

As it stands, Salt and Sacrifice continues to nail down all of the moving parts and elements that go into creating an impressive Souls-like game. For most players –especially those just discovering the genre for the first time– this is an easy recommendation. But for the rest of us, it’s not quite enough anymore.

I want to like Salt and Sacrifice, and in some stretches, I do. I enjoyed exploring the world, concepts of hunting and crafting, and the moody atmosphere, which kept me continuing for dozens of hours. But its clunky progression systems and many maddening enemy encounters quickly make the fun times easy to forget.

Overall, Salt and Sacrifice still nails the core elements that make a 2D reimagining of Dark Souls a compelling idea thanks to its fundamental understanding of how character and level progression should flow and its expansive combat system. By adding in an extra layer of Metroidvania-style exploration and a unique approach to boss encounters with its Mage Hunt mechanic, Salt and Sacrifice sees Ska Studios carve out a space for itself as more than the studio that is good at making 2D Dark Souls games.

Soulslikes are appealing because of the sense of accomplishment they evoke, offering tremendously difficult battles that — with practice — can be overcome. Every death feels fair, and the design philosophy is fine-tuned in such a way that feels intentional and deliberate. Salt and Sacrifice, on the other hand, achieves difficulty with clunky design, which completely misses the point of what makes a good challenge worth the time. Instead, the sacrifice of wasted time here is more than enough to make you salty.

Many people complain about the difficulty because they don't spend time playing it, I've played it alone several times, it's a difficult game, it's designed like that, it's the successor to Salt, the first part is a masterpiece, it's undeniable, but this is a full-fledged monster, difficulty, craft, PvP, Coop, many things to do with the factions, crazy, don't pay attention to the people who barely spend time learning about the game and delving into it, I give my opinion with more than 800 hours played, I think that after all those hours there has to be some validity

Salt and Sanctuary is probably my favorite game of all time, and I've been playing for a few decades. Salt and Sacrifice on the other hand is a mediocre game, it's not more than OK. it is has downgraded the original Salt and Sanctuary in almost every aspect, it's a shame, it just is, a shameful thing. It's only saving grace is local co-op. I'll give it 7/10 as it's OK, but for those coming from Salt and Sanctuary, get ready for a big let down.

Salt and Sanctuary has been my favorite 2D souls-like game. But this sequel was a disappointment for me. It was a game like Demons Souls where we went to different maps. The feeling of exploration is weak. There are no invisible walls. There are no secret places. I only like 1 boss. The final boss is very easy. It's good that Mages have variety. But hunting mages gets boring after a while. Chasing mages is very annoying and when other mages get involved, chaos ensues. It can be said that money does not matter in the game. The upgrade items are not sold by the trader, you have to farm them. The worst mechanics in the game are climbing and grapling hook. Most of the time it is difficult to hold on and causes you to die. Graphically, there has been no improvement after 6 years. Some music is good. Art design is good. The variety of weapons is not bad.

An ambitious sequel which tried to capture the best of the original and couple it with Monster Hunter and more Dark Souls systems, and failed miserably. The game is frustrating more so than difficult. It feels unbalanced, untested and far more clunky than the original. Many sequels cannot quite live up to the original, and this game belongs in that pile.

A once-peaceful kingdom is plunged into chaos by encroaching tides of Mages: merciless embodiments of elemental chaos. The Marked Inquisitors, a doomed... Read More
