Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are some of the most disappointing remakes Nintendo has ever released. They aren't terrible games, but that's mostly because Sinnoh was already great back in **** biggest problem is that these remakes add almost nothing new. When Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire came out, they introduced Mega Evolution, new story content, and enough changes to justify revisiting Hoenn. BDSP feels like someone copied Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, gave it a new coat of paint, and called it a **** that new coat of paint isn't even an improvement. The chibi art style looks like a weird collection of Funko Pops and completely loses the atmosphere that made Sinnoh memorable in the first place. In many ways, the originals simply look **** story, progression, and overall experience are almost identical to the DS games. Nothing meaningful changes, which makes the entire remake feel pointless if you've already played the originals. If this is your first time visiting Sinnoh, you'll probably have a good time because the foundation is still excellent. But for returning fans, there's very little reason to care.

It's still diamond and pearl: good games from back then which have their own quality but you have to rate the remake. And besides a few nice things most of the remake is... rather disappointing. The overly repetitive trainer fights in this gen or the okay-ish chibi-look are to be managed but sadly there is a lot more: I don't like the download-content being limited to an early time where the game was released. When you are late to the party it always feels like a good big chunk of the game was just being taken away from you. Yes, this is how it always was... and it's bad. Of course legendary pokemon need to feel special but look at Mystery Dungeon: that's how you make them look special (like gods almost) but they are still included in the main game, "always". Another big thing imo is the money-grab. This is my interpretation but why did they not remake platinum? Well, I guess it's better to have two versions so people buy both (double the money) and let's remake the versions that didn't have the extra giratina-content so we also save production-money in the process. Pretty smart. As I said, the game itself is still decent but the bitter aftertaste is something you can't just wash down with water.

Agora é esperar o remake do remake.

The reviews of this are way too overcritical and these people need to guide their hatred towards the CURRENT games coming out now which don't follow the actual Pokemon formula whatsoever. Seriously, what timeline is this?? This game is not even that bad. Yeah I wish they had just remade Platinum, but i still did enjoy this game. It is a relatively faithful remaster of Gen 4. The visuals do kind of leave more to be desired, the artstyle looks a bit more like Let's Go than it does Diamond and Pearl. Even so though, somehow things like the battle scenes and backgrounds are better animated than current games today. So what is the issue there that people even have?? If it's anything other than the general artstyle, then they are making things up. This isn't much different than how ORAS handled Gen 3, just a bit more limited, which, that's how D/P actually was. You don't see people review bombing ORAS because it didn't have the Battle Frontier and a bunch of features from Emerald.

It could have done much more for a remake like ORAS did for gen 3 or like HGSS did for gen 2. Overall still fun/ok if you like diamond and pearl its still good it's just missing major platinum improvements like the platinum pokedex.

The game was enjoyable, but I just wasn't a fan of the chibi art style at all. The issue is that it is basically just a copy of the original, it didn't really add a whole lot. But I did like the original, so I did still enjoy this game. But it should've been done differently (and should've been tested more thoroughly).

~40-50 hours
- misses known things from Platinum
- Pokémon following in overworld (Size incorrect for 2+ meter Pokémon)
- Graphics are fine, look in battle much better
- Chibi look wants to add to nostalgia but misses the touch of time in my opinion
- Postgame conent is cut compared to Platinum
- no problems (performance etc.)

Got it for free. My first true pokemon game. I like it. Find hard in some places, but that's not a bad game, BUT NOT FOR 45 DOLLARS.

I prefer the graphics style of Sword and Shield, but still a good game with nostalgic factor.

This game was a massive letdown to the Pokémon community. I remember the trailer first dropped and trying to stay positive as I usually do, but by the time it came out I was disappointed. This was obviously a mere cash grab. One of the big issues is there being bugs that were literally fixed in Platinum. Some people may call them faithful remakes, but I consider it simple copy and pasting. Do yourself a favor and try Platinum where the bugs are fixed and there are many more features.

Awful remake. F*ck ILCA and f*ck TPC for not even developing their own remake. Sadly Gen 5 was the peak of the series and we will never see such greatness again. Now TPC is rich they can’t innovate

No. Whoever's idea it was to do that HORRID art style and keeping ILCA IN CHARGE? No. Whoever's idea was it to barely add anything to a 12 year old game? No. Whoever didn't even make the camera able to move? No. Whoever thought that two more games should be released in the same year, shifting their focus every two weeks to a new cash grab? No. All I can say about this game? No.

Now I am aware that this game wasn't enjoyed by many. Especially given that it retained many of the flaws in the original games while excluding all of the additions from Pokémon Platinum. But in all honesty, I liked this game better than a few of other Pokémon games. I may not have played the originals, which is why. LMAO

The game doesn't get a 0 just because it's the same story as the old one and therefore one of the best in the series. It doesn't deserve even a euro of your money, it doesn't enrich the gameplay except with a very secondary thing, the grand underground. The chibi graphics are terrible and impossible to appreciate from my point of view, very simple fights that could be done with your eyes closed. The pokemon in the overworld are obscene and have hideous proportions. Just don't buy it, unless they give it to you for free. Play the original

Loved it. I'll never trust metacritic scores again. It's old school, but the endgame challenges are immense. The underground is fun. I got the most out of this one even after playing the original many years ago.

Pokémon Shining Pearl are faithful remakes of the 2006 Nintendo DS games. They probably lean too much on the safe side, not achieving an awful

What is the point of this remake if its does not include the latest gen features? Gen 4 remake should be at least on par with SwSh quality in terms of graphic, take a look at FRLG, HGSS and ORAS with the huge leap of graphic quality, you dev guy actually satisfy with this ****? And only 493 Pokemon available in the so-called remake? Not even care to include Pokemon up to Gen 7 before the dexit? Being faithful my a**, just an excuse of being lazy and cutting corners, considered Pokemon being one of the most profitable IP in the world, this kind of quality in a so-called "remake title" just isn't acceptable. Even the og Gen 4 game has better visual and are more enjoyable, if the dev team are not ready to deliver another remake title as stunning as HGSS then it's better to skip it for future rather than ruining it for greedy cash grab!

The games were fine but we're definitely worse that the original and I would not recommend this version over the original

In some ways, incredibly frustrating. In others, too smooth for its own good. The exp. share, notorious at this point, carried me through the game. Save for type advantages, you're never incentivized to use a Pokemon for any good reason. Any Pokemon that's lagging in levels will remain that way until every Pokemon floats around the same level for the rest of the game. Also, the movement controls border on terrible. Never has a Pokemon game required dexterity while navigating the world, and yet, there were one-space wide walkways placed right next to a ledge that truly tested my abilities to swing my character at a tight enough angle to not accidentally hop down the ledge. With all these issues in mind, the core game is still great, still overall a recommendable Pokemon game, especially on switch.

Tho not the remakes they could of / should have been there not bad games, tho i'm not a fan of the chibi characters or the changing of contest, overall its pretty good. But there are things to not like like how characters look out of battle which is just dumb founding since in battle they use much better character models, i just don't understand why'd they go the chibi style when they had much better models but whatever lets get into the stuff that is actually bad such as movement, there are a lot of times when you'll need to use the D-pad to not fall off edges which is really annoying also even tho the game starts you off not wearing a hat once you get it you can't ever take it off without fully changing outfits which you can't even do til the 3rd gym, lastly and this may just be me being too use to gen 8 and 9 where its super easy to catch pokemon but catching pokemon in this game seem way to hard iv had level 30 pokemon be asleep and in red heath and would brake out of 20 pokeballs in a row like it was nothing where in gen 8 and 9 they can be level 60+ and they'll just get in any type of ball right away and you don't have to put them to sleep or damage them or anything so again maybe i'm just use to it being so easy in thses other games but the catch rates just seem way off **** E4 also stall way too much thankfully the final pokemon only really has earthquake and poison jab so it's easy to bait the ai by swapping between a flying and steel type but my god was it annoying

This game was boring, easy, ugly, and stupid. This game had no reason to be bad. It's a **** Pokémon game it can't be that hard to screw up. Yet, they did. Badly. This game is so basic, and buggy, this was clearly rushed, and barely any love was poured in this stupid port of a **** kids game.

I'm going to be honest with you all, this remake was really really boring. Sure the trailer did say that it's a faithful remake but to me, it isn't. Both games and including the original versions, are empty and a lot of people agreed. If this was a remake of Platinum then things would be slightly better. By the time I've reached the champion for the first time, I was 5 or 6 levels behind because shared EXP is back for some odd reason.

So, if you have played the originals, this is the same. It's not a remake, it's just a visual update. And to my taste, the chibi style is horrible. I wonder if 5-10 yrs old Pokemon fans are really the main audience for the franchise. Can't recommend it, you better get the originals and play them.

Pokemon Shining Pearl falls short of capturing the magic of the original game, and it pales in comparison to its predecessor. Despite the nostalgia factor, this remake fails to deliver a satisfying experience. The visuals lack the charm and depth of the original, feeling uninspired and lacking in artistic creativity. The gameplay remains largely unchanged, with no significant improvements or innovations. It feels like a missed opportunity to enhance the game for modern audiences. The lackluster soundtrack and repetitive sound effects only contribute to the overall disappointment. While the original Pokemon Pearl was a groundbreaking title, Shining Pearl feels like a lazy attempt to cash in on nostalgia without adding anything substantial. Die-hard fans may find some enjoyment in revisiting the Sinnoh region, but it's hard to shake the feeling that the original game was far superior in every aspect. Pokemon Shining Pearl ultimately fails to capture the essence and excitement of its predecessor, leaving fans longing for the original's greatness.

It's okay, it's at least better as the main games of the last year's.... The pkmn attack animations are good compared to the game freak games.
Give another team a good budget and the license for pkmn and the games would be awesome again. Look at new pkmn snap, very good quality because it's not from game freak.

Visually, its an excellent remake of my favorite pokemon generation. Them keeping the chibi artstyle definitely helped nail the nostalgia of it. Sadly, taking points away for how absurdly easy they made this game. The forced experience share with no option to turn it off made it so my pokemon were perpetually at least 10-15 levels above the opponent. Really would have appreciated SOME challenge

I feel like these remakes were a miss opportunity. They are faithful to the original Diamond and Pearl respectively, however, they felt soulless and forgettable compared to the originals, or Platinum even. Playable, but that's about it.

Pokémon fans may have thought the series could not steep any lower following the release of the Let’s Go titles, however somehow GameFreak manages to top the lows of even those childish Kanto remakes. What’s worse, these were remakes of many fans’ favourite generation of Pokémon games, and favourite overall region, Sinnoh. The games took ‘faithful remake’ way too seriously, with absolutely no change to the original Diamond and a pearl formula. The games became boring after a few hours of play and could be categorised as the original games with a ‘lick of paint,. The one positive of these games is the ability to shiny hunt the mythic Pokémon, even that is being generous however. The games are utterly disappointing and upsetting as a Pokémon fan. Lazy, lazy instalments.

The most terrible remake game project humanity ever encounter with horrible, glitch-filled launch. GameFreak should have no love on their creation anymore, so neglecting they outsourced the game development to ILCA, the horde of assistant programmers who have zero experience of development from scratch. Pokemon is dead.

It already made little sense to remake this game, but doing it the way they did should be a crime. It is not a remake, it contributes little or nothing, the only thing they have done is adapt it for children of 3-5 years.
I don't understand the effort of this franchise to infantilize its games more and more, especially considering the age of its average player. But worst of all, it's how absurdly easy it is, something already imposed in all pokemon games. Simply press A without stopping to beat the game. Is it so difficult to put an option to deactivate sharing experience? I think that the ideal would be to distribute experience as in the original gold and silver, but they seem determined to ignore the fans.
I have always used scene, but I have bought original games that I like like all pokemon, but for several generations I have not bought one, they do not deserve my money.

I love every single little detail in Shining Pearl even love the chibi art style, it's reminds me of old days of Pokemon I wouldn't mind if they did this for HeartGold and SoulSilver if they decide to make a port for switch.
