These are fantastic (albeit amazingly difficult) games that every RPG should experience. [Feb 2003, p.75]

This is a package filled with value and historic charm, but viewed devoid of nostalgic mist, the earliest installments of the series feel little more than average. [March 2003, p.106]

But those of you with Zelda on the mind best ferret off elsewhere - this is a very different sort of Link To The Past.

These faithful ports feature re-sized graphics and direct emulation, yet lack simple fixes that may have resolved issues still haunting the series- particularly the defense bug in Phantasy Star 1.

With the most gameplay in a single title for the Game Boy Advance, it’s hard to pass this title up... If you’re a fan of RPGs, you obviously MUST have this title.

Phantasy Star Collection can last you for over 100+ hours of pure RPG bliss over the three games.

Since the pack presents the games in their original versions, the production values improve as you go from the first game to the third. [Jan 2003, p.176]

A quick fix that gives you between 50 and 75 hours of gameplay for under $30, and as long as you don't mind wading through repetitious gameplay for some pretty decent stories, you just can't beat the value of the title.

The Phantasy Star games are classic RPGs (yes, even the third one…which everyone seems to hate), and they deserved at least a little updating.
