Okage: Shadow King
Instead of a gourmet dinner, we get something heated up out of a can; it’s filling, it doesn’t actually taste bad, be we never get that feeling of satisfaction that comes from eating a truly great meal.
The only shadows Okage: Shadow King is going to be ruling at my house are the ones under the stack of other games I'd rather be playing.
A must for any fan of Tim Burton's style of movies or those of us who like our games to sometimes be a little left of center.

Some of the dialogue was actually pretty funny. Pudgy Man is my spirit animal.

the worst part of this game in general is that the animations are derpy as ****. aside from that, the characters are all quirky, interesting and funny. the story itself is probably the best i've ever seen in any form of media (just my opinion) and the character design is unique in a good way. the world is small, but you would be surprised how well that space is used at times. my worst personal in game experience is that one boss has the potential to one shot you if you're unlucky/unprepared because his attacks seem to use a dice roll like mechanic (from 1-300 damage for example). one of my favorite scenes involves a boss lecturing the hero on tact cus she called him ugly, though i don't think there's any shortages of good moments. (i wish this game would get a remake)

It's a trimmed down and dumbed-down RPG for younger players that just may find an adult audience with its sense of humor and hilarious story line.

Eclectic, eccentric, and unconventional...only the gameplay had remained entertaining and the novelty hadn’t worn off – Okage could have easily taken the game world by storm.

GamePro
The game’s battles look nice and move quickly, but the character animation is stiff, and the menu is too clunky and confusing given the limited number of battle options at your disposal.

GamerWeb Sony
While visually diverting, Okage is only slightly above average overall.

Electronic Gaming Monthly
Spends too much time trying to achieve a kind of “Nightmare Before Christmas”-level of cool weirdness, rather than keeping the player playing. [Dec 2001, p.244]

The novelty of the premise wears thin after about an hour. This is not good, especially for a game that takes about 25 hours to complete.
