Nioh 2: The Complete Edition

Nioh 2 is a refinement of an already great game. The biggest flaw in my opinion of the previous title was that it was difficult to hop into. Truly getting to know a moveset required an investment that wasn’t always easy to recover, and trying to put together a build felt foolish for anything you’d replace down the line. Now it feels a lot more open to experimentation. Everything I loved about the original is still here of course. There’s more stylish moves than ever to learn, and the bosses are more than happy to slam me to the mat any time I start getting overconfident.

Nioh 2 Complete Edition on PC includes everything from the PS4 version and some exclusive features making it a brilliant package overall and it is absolutely essential on PC for those who were waiting.

Nioh 2: The Complete Edition is an excellent Soulslike that features superb combat mechanics, great level design, a beautiful world, and more, and the upgrades and bonuses that come with the Complete Edition are the cherry on top.

Nioh 2 is more about refining its core gameplay than making radical changes. By adding extra layers of depth to its well-tempered mechanics, it offers a high-quality Action-RPG which retains its unique identity, despite some technical issues. Last but not least, it's a more inviting experience this time around, but as it happens with all Souls-like games, player's commitment is mandatory to progress.

The title remains as formidable as ever. Nioh 2 thus manages to find a rare balance: that of a demanding and accessible action game, where fans will enjoy as much (if not more) than in the first opus.

The best way to play Nioh 2 today. Substantial technical and performance improvements only clouded by small PC issues we trust will be fixed soon.

An enjoyable game, with an interesting premise which is bogged down and held back by an underwhelming PC port. The gameplay does feel great, so if the technical faults are ironed out, Nioh 2: Complete Edition is certainly a title to keep an eye out for.

Nioh isn't a game to relax with like God of War; it's a frantic Soulslike in the style that Team Ninja has accustomed us to in recent years. Without a doubt, it's my favorite game in the franchise.

Nioh 2 is an enjoyable but uneven action RPG whose excellent combat carries a story and progression system that do not always reach the same **** game presents a fantasy reinterpretation of several periods of Japanese history, using real historical figures and events as the backdrop for its yokai-focused narrative. There is clearly a great deal of effort behind the lore, but frequent time skips make the plot difficult to follow and prevent many character relationships from developing naturally. The story remained interesting enough to keep me engaged, and a few character arcs stood out, but it ultimately felt more functional than memorable.Combat is easily the strongest part of the game. Although Nioh 2 shares several elements with Soulslike games, it plays more like a fast technical action game with extensive RPG systems. Its weapons, stances, skills, Ninjutsu, Onmyo magic, and yokai abilities create a deep and satisfying combat system that is simple to understand but difficult to master.However, the camera and lock-on system can become frustrating, particularly in confined spaces or on uneven terrain. The heavy loot system also feels excessive during a first playthrough. Equipment becomes outdated so quickly that carefully building a complete set often feels pointless until much later. The RPG systems are deep enough that they cannot be ignored, but many of their most interesting aspects are better suited to repeat playthroughs and endgame progression.Performance was generally acceptable, although I experienced one crash, several black screens, and a noticeable frame-rate drop in one area.Overall, Nioh 2 is a strong action game with rewarding combat, impressive mechanical depth, and interesting historical-fantasy lore. Its storytelling, camera, and constant equipment management hold it back, but I still had fun throughout most of the experience.7/10

Deep and mechanically satisfying, but overwhelming systems and uneven level design make it hard to recommend to newcomers.

I don't like it, I am told time and time again that this game has the best combat there is and I mean yeah kind of. You have two dozen moves 6 possible dodge animations three damage output options but everything past a light attack and dodge is an eye candy you are not encouraged to expand your move set at all except for a higher damage output but I digress. Well now you are probably impressed with the deepness your movement but the actual combat in my eyes is quite ****. Because it doesn't matter how flashy your character movement is when his opponent is i.e. minecraft zombie, and that's pretty much the environment of this game. The player and the enemies don't mesh together, you throw out your combo, back off, the boss does his combo and you do yours again and repeat. I spent the first 10 to 15 hours trying to figure out how do I make the combat seamless like in DarkSouls jumping through attacks and punishing or like in Sekiro a beautiful dance of deflections and retaliation But alas Nioh is not any of those games, your character is the whole game the rest is your playground for your witty and efficient combos and enemies are there just to play the role of semi sentient training dummy.
