There's a thin line between awful and pointless, and Night Watch manages to wobble like a poorly spun top right in the middle, sporadically teetering too far into awful before righting itself, then drifting over to pointless territory. Again and again and again.

If you appreciated the movie or are aching for more Silent Storm turn-based action, then this game could hit the mark provided you are very forgiving of the disappointing audio, turgid dialog and tired visuals.
54
Night Watch is a stripped-down turn-based strategy game that starts off interesting, but eventually settles into a shallow and repetitive rut.

A rather interesting game with a pretty good ideology behind it and a reasonable amount of gameplay within it. At times the game can be frustrating with some overly difficult battles but over all, it is a rather enjoyable experience and the way the missions are set up, it really is perfect for the casual gamer.

Night Watch has plenty of big ideas, but the overall execution is lacking.

Night Watch's main element -- combat -- is fun and engaging, especially once the characters reach higher levels and have more options. But to call it an RPG is a bit disingenuous, because you truly have very few options to individualize the characters, and the story continues in a linear fashion.

A mediocre game that I didn’t mind spending some time on. There are enough interesting factors to be engaging, but enough drawbacks to keep it from reaching the levels of enjoyment that it had every possibility of achieving.

Your time and money is better spent tracking down "Nochnoi Dozor" on DVD and enjoying it passively because, as an attempt at an interactive experience, Night Watch fails utterly.

The whole thing plays out like some budgetware "Turn-Based Combat RPG for Dummies". [Oct. 2006, p.80]
