The gameplay is largely the same, but with some very negative changes. Online, pitch warping/morphing has become a huge problem often coming at super inconvenient times. The ever present server instability really doesn't help hitters when facing guys who throw 100+, especially since they messed with timing windows online. Then we get to the really ugly stuff- specifically the card cap, which was set at a ridiculously low 20 in a not-so-subtle attempt to prevent NMS players from making stubs, and a blatant shove towards to micro transaction store. This was conveniently left out of any pre-launch streams et al and was not received well at all by the majority of the community. This is very much akin to another extremely unpopular move they made a few years ago: cutting XP gains in half. Ever since the massive turnover a few years ago, the game has gone consistently downhill and most of us can only hope that EA steps in and makes an MLB game again, or 2K. There's next to no content, made the brain-dead decision to remove everyone's favourite grind in TA, the content they do release is bare bones and extremely lacking and half baked. Some of the programs themselves (outside of the MP) are online only...which as mentioned before is an absolute circus now thanks to the rampant cheating problem. Offline DD is just as bad, CPU defense is back to being mega OP'd, outfielder speed isn't scaled correctly so extra-base hits are virtually non existent, and hitting itself has gotten worse, most hard hit balls in the air die on the track unless you're playing at Coors or Laughing Mountain

Hands down the dumbest **** I have ever played in my entire life. It’s an unoptimized, poorly designed, total waste of time. Playing this felt like a personal insult to my intelligence. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY. Don't waste a single second or a single penny on this garbage.

This game is broken. The system is rigged, the wheel doesn’t work. Forced to play online but constantly disconnected. Fans deserve better not this piece of ****.

This game could be amazing. But like most sports games today Diamond Dynasty has been geared towards microtransactions and the best rewards are put behind near impossible tasks. Like Showdown and XP Paths that take 4+ hours of playing per day every single day to get done and reap all the rewards from. Add in glitches and an auto base running system that works against you most of the time and I can't even bring myself to give this years game a single star, not 1. Make XP paths easier to complete, make the best rewards more obtainable so that the smallest fraction of players aren't getting the best rewards giving them even more of an advantage. Lastly STOP GEARING THE GAME TOWARDS MICROTRANSACTIONS, YOU ARE RUINING SPORTS GAMES!!

Ether though that MLB the show 26 is fun there is some stuff that is missing in it. Like March to October, I really liked March to October because I can play as my favorite team and play the whole season with that team but you don't get that in this.

‘26 stinks out loud, which sports games as a whole aren’t in a great place. It’s like they’ve put The Show franchise on autopilot for 5 years. So lazy across the board. Over half the players on the game have no actual likeness. It’s 2026 and you can’t put an actual pictures on the game? A face scan I mean something so it doesn’t look like it’s just a bunch of create-a-players out there. God forbid the wind blow in while you’re hitting too. It’s perfect perfect line outs and warning track balls all 9 innings. Game just **** and in no way should be $70.

Just uninstalled right before this post. Constant unfavorable outcomes on good hitting while opponents get silver spooned with everything. If you’re not cheating online then you might as well pack it up and play another game. And no SDS won’t do anything about it. If they actually would put effort into the game then people won’t complain but hey check out these new cards coming out. Game ****

A series stuck in 2004. Awful graphics. Terrible gameplay and predetermined outcomes. Maybe during the lockout MLB will come to their senses and drop SDS and they can go back to total irrelevancy.

This is the worst video game I’ve ever played in my entire life. Recycled version of mlb 25 except it doesn’t work. Menus are unbelievably slow, online games have the worst connection and quality of any multiplayer game I’ve ever played. The offline modes seem like they were thrown together in less than 1 hour. I’ve played mlb the show my whole life and am a huge baseball fan. Will never be purchasing another mlb the show game ever again after this one. A sad pathetic joke. Every time I load into this game it makes me wish I didn’t spend a dollar on it

Another great SDS embarrassment. Not sure why a development company can’t develop a video game of a sport that hasn’t changed in a century. Glitches, bugs, server issues consistently causing “freeze-offs” during online games. So literally the same problem every single year with zero graphic updates from 25. You people are an actual joke and an absolute embarrassment to the gaming community. None of you should have jobs. But guess what? You’ll copy and paste this pathetic slop next year and call it MLB The Show 27. I sincerely hope this company fails miserably for the disservice to both the baseball and gaming community. Hopefully another company can obtain the licensing from you absolute idiots and actually create a game worth playing. Absolute embarrassments.

The most redundant game ever year after year with no improvement… Graphics are 10 years behind, player models still look like wax figures, and RTTS is boring. Atleast upgrade the graphics to the CURRENT GEN not PS4 graphics

Navigation literally will give you a headache and possibly confusion. They removed the find trade option. Dumb. Added 2 days to wait. Dumb. Realism comes to a point in a game. It's a game! Let's remember that . Feature cutting is what you do a bunch now. Remove certain features, for no reason, rather than just to put it back on the next year or 2 and make it seem like you did something. Let someone else make a baseball game. You guys are awful now.

Playing on Xbox. This is the first game I paid $70 to purchase. Huge waste of money. The game is fun to play when I play it. The problem is that I am almost never able to play it. DD menus take minutes to load things that should be instant. Whenever I try to edit my squad there is about a 10% chance it will freeze the game. These things have gone on since day 1 and have never been addressed by the devs. In RTTS I faced a bug where the end of spring training crashed the game and I could not play that mode until it got patched. This is embarrassingly bad for a major studio game. Should never have released with this many game-breaking bugs and to have them still extant after almost a month is equally embarrassing. I will not buy 27 or any other version again for any amount of money.

I created an account on this website just to give this game a review. It’s absolute trash, inconsistent hitting and pitching, constant rewarding for bad hits with perfect-perfect fly outs, perfect times pitches missing the zone and bloop hits all over the field and constant errors throughout the game. Don’t even waste your hard-earned money on this trash

My record in 24’ 78-12, record in 25’ 58-6, already in MLB the show 26 I’m 21-9 with 8 disconnects. This is the worst MLB game I’ve ever played and I’ve purchased and played every single one since The Show 13. You’re paying 70-100 dollars for a roster update with a blur feature that hasn’t been working now for over 4 days and oh yeah flames at 1 or 2 parks that no one uses in online mode. The same exact graphics for about the 6th year in a row. They added RobFlo as a commentator and he is genuinely worse than nails on a chalkboard, I used him for 2 games and had to unplug my speakers halfway through both games with how insufferable he is. Rather than fixing servers or actually addressing the same concerns we’ve had over the years they still find a way to add things that almost no one asked for that make the game worse somehow. If you enjoy playing **** and lagging out with an Ethernet cord and fiber internet this is the game for you. The strike zone is terrible, the ball has to be in the zone 80% or it’s not a strike no dotting pitches because even with P5 mods on control, no matter who you use will hang pitches and continue to gift opponents 30-40 foul balls a game. Sell ur rights San Diego studios, quit with the DEI hires of women who have never played baseball or video games their entire life’s. Quit paying streamers to hype your game and put the money into actually IMPROVING THE GAME.

MLB The Show 26 is, without a doubt, the lowest point for the franchise in this console generation. While competitors are pushing graphical boundaries and physics engines, San Diego Studio seems content with a decade-old engine that feels ancient on modern **** most glaring issue—and an insult to long-time fans—is the 'Portrait Crisis.' In a game that prides itself on realism, seeing high-profile stars and veteran players constantly replaced by hideous, generic CGI models in the Depth Charts is unacceptable. The 'dynamic' roster system is broken; it fails to preserve the identity of players who move teams or enter free agency, **** the immersion of the Franchise mode. Moreover, the lack of meaningful updates to the '30-team control' and General Manager experience makes it feel like a spreadsheet simulator with 2015 graphics. The fact that fans have to go back to MLB The Show 23 just to find a version with better visual consistency and a functional World Baseball Classic roster speaks volumes. If you care about authenticity, stick to the older titles. This year's entry is a lazy, roster-update cash grab that ignores the soul of the sport.

One kof the worst MLB the show games I've ever played. The game barely works and when it does the gameplay is still horrendous. Its more like a slot machine disguised as a baseball game. All outcomes are random.

This is one of the worst games I’ve ever played in all my years of living! Perfect hits are not rewarded a lot which is infuriating, cheaters are running rampant homering pitches that should induce flyouts or popups, and pitches NEVER go where you aim it no matter how perfect the timing is or the settings you use! The RNG in this game was already pure garbage but somehow SDS found a way to make it 1000 times worse, you could go from dominating someone of the mound for 8 straight hitless innings and then give up 3 straight homers in the ninth that defy all logic. Even the trashest players in all of existence can beat you because of the trash algorithm of MLB the show 26! This game is pure filth and if you’re somebody put there that wants to keep your sanity, i suggest you don’t play this rubbish. I had to delete this trash from my system immediately! This game blows and the developers should be ashamed of themselves!

This game has officially hit rock bottom. I’ve been a loyal fan for years, but MLB The Show has become a stale, recycled mess that makes EA Sports look like a consumer-friendly masterpiece. It’s heartbreaking to watch a franchise I once loved turn into a lazy, soul-crushing **** biggest offender is Diamond Dynasty. It used to be the gold standard for ultimate team modes, but it’s now objectively worse than Madden or FC. The progression feels unrewarding and repetitive, serving as a transparent attempt to keep engagement numbers up while offering zero innovation. There is no excitement in building a squad when the payoff feels like a second job rather than a game.Technically, the game is a joke. The servers are abysmal—expect constant disconnects and "lost connection to opponent" messages during every critical Ranked Seasons game. Despite these glaring issues, the developers have gone completely radio silent. They don’t listen to the community anymore; they just push out more packs and hope we don’t notice the gameplay hasn't changed in five years. The spark is gone, the passion is gone, and the respect for the player base is nonexistent. Don't waste your time or money.

0% Innovation, Old Graphics for a 2026 Game... With each passing day, sports games just get worse... The only ones that end up being worthwhile are WWE and F1.

MLB The Show 26 isn’t just bad—it’s a full-blown masterclass in how to waste a great franchise. Let’s talk gameplay, because somehow that’s broken too. You’ll throw a pitch, induce weak contact, and watch a ball that is clearly foul get rewarded as a home run. Not borderline. Not questionable. Just blatantly foul… and somehow it counts. At that point, why even pretend this is a baseball simulation? Online play? A joke. Absolute joke. You’ll sit there trying to get matchmaking to work like it’s 2003 and the servers are powered by a hamster on a wheel. And when you finally get into a game—don’t worry, the real fun begins. Freeze-offs. Constant. Inevitable. And if you’re winning? Oh, you can go ahead and pencil in the loss now. It’s basically a feature at this point: “Winning? Here’s your L.” Diamond Quest is even worse. You grind for HOURS—actual time out of your life—make a solid run, maybe even feel like you’re about to get rewarded… and then boom, disconnected. Run over. Rewards gone. Time wasted. No safety net, no recovery, no respect for your time. Just straight up robbery. And the menus… my God. The menus move like you’re trying to load a webpage on dial-up in 1999. Click something, wait five seconds. Try again, wait another five. It’s like the game is actively daring you to quit. Graphics? This is supposed to be a current-gen game, and it looks like MLB The Show 22 with a roster update. Nothing pops. Nothing feels new. It’s the same recycled product, just somehow worse. At this point, San Diego Studio isn’t even hiding it—they’ve checked out. Completely. This is Stu Sternberg-level ownership energy: do the bare minimum, invest nothing, and hope people keep showing up anyway. No innovation, no urgency, no pride in the product.Honestly, just sell the franchise to someone who cares. Because MLB The Show 26 isn’t just disappointing—it’s broken, lazy, and borderline disrespectful to anyone still buying it.

Game is completely broken. Constant **** the companion app crashes so you cant even sell cards. And oh I forgot to mention there are people openly advertising cheats for the game so even if the game was working you will just lose online to cheaters. Save your money and stay away from this money grabbing franchise.

Here’s all you need to know: •GRAPHICS. At this point this game can not ever be considered “improved” until the visual aspects drastically improve. I played this game in front of someone who doesn’t play the show the other day and they literally said “why does this game look like ****”. •UI. One of the things that makes Madden so terrible (other than its awful gameplay) is the annoying UI. NO ONE wants to spend hours on hours waiting for these stupid animations that are literally ONLY THERE to create an illusion that there is anything different between this game and the one(s) before it. Diamond Dynasty USED to have fast moving screens and now everything takes FOREVER. It’s not cute. It’s frustrating. This is a MASSIVE downgrade from last year. •GAMEPLAY. This part is fine. But it also just mostly feels the same. This is the best part of the show, anyway… so this part is a wash. However there have been reports on foul ball home-runs and other clunky glitches. •FRANCHISE. There is relatively no immersion here anymore. Broadcaster commentary needs to be better bridging the gaps between games so it actually feels like a personal experience. I’ve said this forever in every sports game: big moments need to feel big and crowds need to react louder in these moments. CFB does this well, actually. Playing in the playoffs/World Series barely feels any different. It’s a common complaint that the World Series celebration is super lame/the same every year. And guess what? Still the case. At the end of the day this game is probably a 5/10 realistically, but I, and many others, believe games like this should be judged based on the changes made. No graphical improvements, glitchy gameplay, and an unwanted major change to UI that resulted in needless time spent in menus… No points are deserved for this years edition. I’d say do better next year, but I know they won’t. They’ve taken the EA path. It’s clear as day. We enjoyed it while it lasted. But this is another company that no longer gives a damn and wants to squeeze every last dollar out of the consumer. Don’t buy this game anymore. It’s over.

Franchise has been extremely ignored for years, which I guess I should've expected since it doesn't have micro transactions. The "changes" to franchise somehow made it worse than the typical roster update. New Trade process ****, trades in general ****, still don't have spring training invites, draft and scouting ****, UI changes and player screens are worse.

Made this account specifically to leave this review. Never in my life have I felt the need too. Genuinely insane that they made it even harder to get cards in DD when it was already ridiculously hard in years prior. Moments used to be the fuel to motivate you to go out and do the other goals needed to advance the program. Now, no moments, and it’s wildly unrealistic goals for progression in early DD. Showdown is still unexplainably difficult. Getting all the way to the final boss just to lose and have to do the whole thing over. You have to be absolutely perfect just to even advance. SDS is really just a team of miserable *****. There is a fine line between challenging and just down right stupid, and they are treading in the water of absolute idiocracy. RTTS is only fun for so long. No motivation to play this game after seeing what I have to do just to get an 87 OVR. I give myself 1 more week before i uninstall.

I signed up for this website specifically to give this game a bad review. It’s lazy. It’s a new skin of an old game. There are no new features for anyone to be excited about, and in fact old game modes and features were inexplicably removed. The developers need to wake up.

Ultimately, MLB The Show 26 remains an outstanding sports simulation that consistently plays to its strengths. The gameplay continues to be among the best in the genre, the content is extensive, and the accessibility is exemplary. At the same time, however, it's evident that the series is currently progressing in small, controlled steps. For newcomers and baseball fans, the complete package is virtually unrivaled, while experienced players will receive a very good, but unsurprising, upgrade.

My Dad ONLY play sports games, NBA 2K, Madden and The Show, he is older, isn't in the gaming loop, he's used to the slop and it doesn't seem to ever bother him, but I guess even this game went too far. All I know is the poor guy played it for 2 days and is already back to play 2K, he even tried to return the open copy back to Best **** that bad and this review is for him.

NOTHING HAS CHANGED. NOTHING WAS FIXED. EVERYTHING HAS GOTTEN WORSE. Where do i begin… Aside from the complete lack of change from last year to this, gameplay has gotten worse. Ive been playing the show for years and the constant connection and server issues i always hope get fixed never do. Disconnection from opponents resulting in losses, insane lack of connectivity to other players, even just moving through DD menu is laggy and causes the game to freeze out on multiple occasions. The player models havent changed a bit, the menu interface is literally the same. At least put some lipstick on this pig to make me feel like i didnt waste $70. I dont know how much longer SDS can get away with doing absolutely nothing but i genuinely feel like there should be a class action lawsuit on having to pay for the same game as 25 but worse. I enjoy the WBC additions and the theme is pretty cool but thats it. This is just a minor update to 25 with worse server connectivity. The ONLY saving grace is my goat Aaron Judge on the cover, and at this point i dont even want to associate such a great player with such a horrible variant of this game. I mean its been bad before but come on.

I've played The Show since the beginning loved the game until 2 years ago when I'm like their not doing anything to improve the game. Now after 2 years off I bought this year's version and damn if it's not the same exact game smh why are they choosing to ruin this game is beyond me, graphics are damn near old gen no improvements on actually gameplay.... It's the same game!

Game is an absolute broken mess and it's an absolute disgrace that some extremely annoying glitches from past years like the Squad Builder screen freezing is still happening. There is no more stale and effortless sports title out there now than MLB The Show. What was once the pinnacle of sports titles has now become one of the most stale and outdated franchises. There are next to no new additions compared to the previous two titles, which also lacked additions too. Don't get me wrong, it still plays great, but franchise lacks depth and the presentation and commentary are beyond stale. However, where the game struggles the most and is honestly inexcusable at this point is the visuals department. Visuals look nearly unchanged since the mid-PS4 generation and they're embarrassingly out-of-date by modern standards. Most player face scans and create-a-player molds look ugly as sin, the lighting looks totally off and inauthentic (particularly in night games), textures look muddy, many animations are straight up from the PS3 era, and I could go on and on. MLB The Show needs a brand new engine, top-to-bottom, while thought needs to be placed from the developers as to how to actually innovate in game modes, road to the show, diamond dynasty, and more to give this franchise life it hasn't honestly felt in nearly a decade.
