The focus on creating a "game" out of the franchise is commendable and makes for a worthwhile purchase if you're a GBA owner looking for something to keep you busy on the bus.

The GBA just isn't suitable for a party game the nature of how Mario Party is supposed to be, however the DS, equipped with wireless and forthcoming online play, is a whole different story.

This game is awful, as it’s not even a Mario Party game, but rather a fetch quest game. Only four playable characters, a limited dice roll amount, and especially boring features make Mario Tennis Ultra Smash look like Mario Tennis Aces and 3DS Super Mario Maker look like Super Mario Maker 2. This is the worst Mario Party game (along with the Top 100) and the second-worst Game Boy Advance game next to the GBA version of Madden 07.

This is by far one of the worst gaming experiences I have ever had. Mario Party is, well, a party game. Meant to play with your friends and future enemies. This is not that. Why is it only single player? Why are there only 4 characters? Why is the main gameplay about fetch quests? Why are gadgets even a thing? Why is the main gameplay driving around a city in a car? These are questions that may never be answered. I can't give it a one, since there are some good minigames which you can play in between the more boring gameplay, and there are some charming moments, but why would you ever touch this game? It fails at being a Mario Party game and isn't enjoyable enough to make up for that. Horrible game.

If you own a GBA or SP, there is absolutely no reason not to own Mario Party Advance. Heck, even if you don't own one yet, this is the perfect excuse-a true, must-own killer app.

YALL TWEAKIN THIS PEAK
The quests and storyline are so funny
The minigames randomly are kinda annoying but that’s a nonissue
And the only reason y’all hatin is the title? CRINGE AS ALL HELL!

A nice batch of cheap thrills for what it is, even though the core aspects that have made past versions so popular aren't as prominent.

The GBA version features a whole slew of different things to do and play, but it all seems just a bit uncreative for the first outing on the handheld system.

In this game, there are more decisions to make, a stronger plot and the game is better for solo play.

If not for the board game pain, this would have been OK. But as it is, it's just another lifeless Mario Party to sling on to the slowly growing pile. [NGC Pocket]

Possibly the worst videogame Nintendo has had the misfortune to publish. Avoid at all costs; this is disgracefully bad.

The mini games are really intrusive. But the story is fun. This game is just heavily misunderstood and players are being misled by its title...

This is almost as bad as Mario Party 9 and the only good things about it are the characters you can meet and the minigames to an extent an meh game at best and a bad game at worst.

This is what happens when you try to make a multiplayer game into a single player experience. The minigames are lackluster and the main game is boring. You're best off avoiding this one.
