It’s the perfect game to get out when you have family around for an occasion, and the retro events will likely elicit fond memories from gamers of a certain age. And to top it all off, there’s a decent single-player mode to get stuck into. It’s not perfect, but as mini-game collections go, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is up there with the best of them.

Realmente vale la pena. En pandemia fue algo que sin duda alguna no podías dejar atrás.

Definitely the best game in the series – but too niche to recommend it to everyone. [Issue#241, p.63]

Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020 is an entertaining take on the sports-event genre that has, by and large, disappeared in the modern-day. The game aims for accessibility at every opportunity, and while nothing about it is particularly exceptional, it still has plenty of unique flourishes to offer, and the wealth of different events and simple controls make for an appealing casual multiplayer title. Thanks to a generous selection of events and a few neat gimmicks, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is the best entry in this series.

A fun collection of events, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 has some chaff amongst the wheat, but overall, this an entertaining package that will no doubt be a party favourite.

Mario & Sonic's latest Olympic outing is more of the same, without any real innovation. The new additions of retro and dream events don't fundamentally change up the formula enough to feel like truly meaningful additions, though online multiplayer does add much needed longevity.

Though bold and colourful and accompanied with a dazzling score, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games 2020's clumsy gameplay lacks the polish we've come to expect from games emblazoned by that iconic little plumber.

This game deserves so much hate for no reason. I mean, this game is amazing. Stellar graphics, amazing events, decent story **** god, this game is so good. My only complaint is how this 2019 game advertised the 2020 Olympic Games, which ended up being in 2021. But regardless, I recommend you stop your whining about how mid this game is, pop it into your Switch, and give it a try.

Worst game in the Mario & Sonic series. I got bored very quickly. Too bad it ended on a flop.

All this game really is, is a collection of mini games that all control terribly. I don’t think there’s a single mini game that controls nicely. The atmosphere of the game itself feels super bland and uninspiring. This game does have online play, which sounds nice, bus as expected, nobody wants to play this. Now back the controls. I will use the skateboarding mini game as a reference. You might be thinking “Oh you just **** at the mini games” no. The skateboard mini game controls as if you a snowboarding on a sheet of slime. Compare it to any Tony Hawk game which always feels so fun and natural. This doesn’t meet that criteria at all. I would only recommend this game for young children, or if you are playing with friends. Other than that. There is no way it’s worth it to waste money on this game. I’m sorry.
