KYOTO XANADU -the Blooming Phantom-

For fans of the Persona series, KYOTO XANADU -the Blooming Phantom- is certainly a title worth checking out. Both its school-life elements and dungeon exploration are executed well, while retaining a distinctive style of their own. Its combat, meanwhile, builds on a reasonably solid foundation and effectively works around its weaknesses, ultimately delivering a fairly satisfying experience. Its story also undoubtedly ranks above average among JRPGs.

Kyoto Xanadu blends 2D exploration with 3D action into a light, approachable JRPG, with characters that read as familiar but land well. The systems favor simplicity over depth — a deliberate trade-off that keeps the experience easy to pick up, though it may leave those seeking a bigger roster or deeper side content wanting more. Still, it shows real promise for Xanadu as an ongoing series.
