Visually appealing and highly addictive

The repetitive environments drag it down a bit, but that’s far from a fatal blow. [Feb 2002, p.107]

Different, rewarding, intelligent, funny, and filled with memorable characters and weird creatures. It’s damn fun, too, and will keep you performing the repetitive duties required of a monster raiser for far longer than you’d ever imagine.

Pretty good game that i still find time to replay even to this day of 2020.

It's a very fun game. I didn't like it as much as the first game though. Some of the story elements are a bit amateurish but nothing that is a major deal, and besides it is the gameplay mechanics and art style that really make this franchise. I always liked the changing chat dialogue pictures that are reminiscent of older anime. The biggest downside of this game by a mile is the voice acting. It is super, super cheesy. This is evident from the very beginning of the game, but I assume their budget was eaten up on everything else and they had to compromise here. Everything else is pretty well done though so if you can get past the voices you'll have fun with this game.

A good game that really does its own thing. At the time, this was a rather unique concept that really was allot of fun. However, I did find the game did get very repetitive the longer you played it. With a few more side activities and more in game mechanics, it could have been better. But, as it is, it still good and allot of fun. Overall: A different, but good game, that perhaps is better played in small doses.

The combination of missions, discovering new eggs, and furthering the story keeps this game from hitting that stale spell that plagues many RPGs. [Feb 2002, p.83]

Fans of the original Jade Cocoon, as well as those enamored by games like Monster Rancher and Pokemon, will surely love this fascinating sequel.

Despite our disdain of the very concept of this game we did find it fairly engrossing.

It’s an interesting system that places emphasis on strategy rather than brute force, but, in the end, it still feels a little limited. [Feb 2002, p.38]

The beauty of Jade Cocoon 2 is impressive but much like a supermodel, when you site down to actually get to know it, there's not much substance underneath all the pretty packaging.

JC2 shows promise initially, but a quirky sense of humor and an endearing fairy sidekick aren't enough to save it from becoming repetitive.
