Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition
85
CD-Action
Canadians responsible for this edition restrained their own creativity almost completely, delivering a polished product true to the original game. [13/2014, p.63]
For someone looking for a game like the Baldur’s Gate titles but with more emphasis on spending time fighting monsters and delving through dungeons, this may be just the thing.

A gem of a game. A bit more straightforward than the Baldur's Gate games, but Icewind Dale is a classic RPG in its own right. Beautiful artwork, great soundtrack and responsive combat make for a great game. [Dec 2014]

Final boss is absolutely unbalanced and OP for any party. Even if you grind your levels and can cast several lvl 8 spells. The imbalance is because he just dispells every buff you have. Good luck not to die in 3 seconds after then.

Even if I don't play it for too long, it feels very empty compared to BG1. It doesn't stand out with its story. The gameplay is also not interesting enough because it's getting too old. I will try it again in the future.

Ah yes a game for real men ( you guys probably forgot what that means ) I’ve seen some bad ass smart women play this on a overrated website everyone seems to visit and take so serious, called YouTube. You have been warned, no return from this game, MAN UP, sissy and click install. ( it’s double click )

Best Version of the Game ever, they still put some Upgrades likes new Portraits and Sound Effects in Every Patch ... GREAT GAME!

A satisfying Hack & Slash game that requires a tactical approach rather than mindless clicking in order to enjoy it in full. The use of the rule-set, tables and classes from Baldur's Gate II Enhanced Edition turns an already huge game in a replayable heaven. My only gripe would be the path-finding of characters, something that has plagued all Infinity Engine games since their inception.

The best possible version of what still is an RPG from more than a decade ago. There's also some new content for people who need it.

It may not have the narrative thrust of other Black Isle titles or the likes of Bioware’s slick epics, but Icewind Dale remains an important part of the adventuring landscape for those willing to brave its frosty depths.

Icewind Dale is a wonderful RPG that retains its quality nearly 15 years after its launch. The bad news is that this Enhanced Edition doesn't add much new content.

Nicely done remake of RPG hit shows the time can’t be stopped. This piece will make fans very happy but only them thou. [Issue#247]

I had played IWD2 before hand and all the other infinity engine games, IWD1 was one that i hadnt really had a chance to play before. I was glad to have the chance to play this. With the new updated Infinity Engine that beamdog had created it was a very good game to play. The new additions to this engine enhanced the overall experience, like the quick loot option. The game itself is great, gets to the heart of action quite quickly and builds the story well. Plenty of areas to visit, not as many as BGII obviously, but still a decent amount of gameplay. I finished it and was left wanting to play more BG games, which is a good thing.

Icewind Dale is good team-based RPG with huge focus on combat. The plot was very simple and straightforward but still engaging, combat - interesting and tactical enough on Hard difficulty, only the final fight was very disapointing. Beamdog has done really good job 'enhancing' this one: the game looks decent and feels comfortable to play. Except for pathfinding, it's still terrible)

Great game but they could have easily added companions BG2 style. As it is, replaying the same game you played 15 years ago with silent companions and asking 15 euros for it, it's kind of a stretch. Worth it for 5 euros or if they add some DLC companions in the future.

This game is just an infinity engine dungeon crawler with very little story. The problem? Well the infinity engine combat is really dated and obtuse. Even when you take the time to understand these games poorly communicated rulesets you still aren't left with a particularly interesting tactical combat experience. This is poison to a game like this that leans entirely onto those aspects. This is a dated game propped up largely by infinity engine nostalgia.
