It’s something that really captured my attention, on a daily basis. It has such an appealing allure and such a great story to playthrough. I honestly loved the art, the combat, and the huge bosses, literally huge! It’s just one of those games that really will leave a lasting impression and provide nothing but joy.

GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon is a classic roguelike game with a stellar art design and some issues in terms of balancing, that forces the player to grind a lot to be more competitive.

"Overall, I’m pleasantly surprised by how GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon turned out. Considering Konami doesn’t have a great reputation at the moment with new entries in their properties, I was expecting a beautiful mess. Thankfully, I was only half right. Not only is the game stunning, but it also feels like the new Getsu Fuma game I’ve always wanted. The lack of story may be a slight disappointment, but I know I will be playing this for years to come. I really hope Konami continue supporting the game with additional stages and characters, as it really deserves it." ****/2022/02/28/getsufumaden-undying-moon/

Beh cosa dire…

GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon is not up to the level of the exponents from which it is inspired, but it remains a decent diversion for those who want yet another action roguelite.

GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon may be pretty to look at and enjoyable enough to play, but the snail's pace of its upgrade system flies counter to the appeal of roguelikes. Without more streamlined growth and acquisition, the incentive to dive back in for another run takes a massive hit. Barring a balance update, it'll remain a textbook case of "slow close, yet so far." The return of GetsuFumaDen isn’t as successful as we expected, with a game that, even though it delivers an enjoyable game, feels inferior to the big names in the genre.

After a few content updates, GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon has the potential to be an essential in the genre. Right now, it still feels like an early access game and one that has annoying technical issues on Nintendo Switch. Its biggest draw is the aesthetic and combat, but it needs to be polished and tweaked in its current state to be an easy recommendation when you have much better games in the genre on Nintendo Switch priced similarly.

Many of the avoidable snags found in GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon were solved by genre predecessors long before this game was announced. There is no doubt that in a few patches time this could be a fantastic game — but that's if Konami, which hasn't been in many gamer's good books for a long time, actually grants the development team the time and the funding to work on it. As it stands the game could end up being something special, the trouble is other similar Switch titles already are.
