Excave III: Tower of Destiny
Strangely, many of the positive aspects of its predecessor have been left out but the overall gameplay mechanics remain the same. Fans of the dungeon crawling genre will find potential for fun in Excave III but other players should look somewhere else.
While Excave II made some nice quality of life improvements to the original formula, it inexplicably seems like most of Excave III's changes are for the worse.
A fairly repetitive dungeon crawler which is fun in small dose, but gets samey too quickly. There’s not that much wrong with Excave III, but it’s too bland to stand out from the crowd and there are better games of this type available on the 3DS.

Definitely not for those looking for great context or a deep story. Highly recommended for those familiar with titles like the Simple Series. Really the main attraction here is the Tower of Fantasy, and the super challenging leaderboard. It's really more closer to a classic endless arcade challenge than a traditional dungeon crawler. An indeterminate number of floors to overcome, a vast arsenal of weapons and accessories scattered randomly throughout the levels, a difficulty curve that makes the game accessible to anyone but not surmountable for everyone. Perhaps if the aleatory level design was a little more detailed and the perspective was in third or even first person we would be talking about a game with higher scores. Such a beautiful protagonist cannot be fully appreciated seen from such a distant perspective!

Pretty solid game , way better than the mediocre Excave II. The bad ideas from the previous game, like the useless male character and the ridiculous story mode are completely absent. The Fantasy Tower is the game's main attraction, with lots of secrets and the online leaderboard. There's still the problem of bad translation though, making it difficult to decipher the unlock methods in some title descriptions.

It is not a terrible experience in any way shape or form, but it is an experience that you will come to tire from a bit too quickly for the money you will pay.
