It's been a very long time since I had so much fun with a game!
It is very reminiscing of the good old 2000's RPGs. This game is not for you if you dislike old school things. The game certainly does not hold your hand but you get the hang of everything very quickly. There is also guides if you ever get stuck on a quest. I hope the developer decides to make a follow up to this some time. There is nothing that compares in my opinion. Absolutely loving the game. Oh and did I mention split screen co-op? It's amazing and just an insane amount of fun with friends.

Read some of the reviews here, 1 guy gave it a 5 for no story... such a shame as there is indeed a story and quests... another a 0 because the character isnt centered... btw you can modify that in the options to your preference. Wish we could remove reviews from users that have no bearing on the actual game. That being said... now on to my review... Not much of a tutorial, but if you're an "explore everything" type or used to these types of games where you need to figure out your path then all is good. As for playability, within a week of getting the game, im hooked. Truly enjoying the wizard class, spells, gear, in game holiday events. Great nod to classic dungeon games of the 90s, with modernized playbility and graphics and soundtracks ( not the best out there but great for an indie ). Lots of little nods to pop culture, (ie Labyrinth well done devs... wont give it away more than that. ) for the pricepoint give this game a chance. The playability is simple, easy to learn if you read, most questions answered by the journals compendium. And the Discord community is great as well!

This game seemed very interesting to me, I'm a fan of Indie titles and always excited to check out a new ambitious project. Though while certainly ambitious, it does have a big shortcoming which I will talk about in this review that ultimately made me not really enjoy the game as much as I would have hoped to. The game initially starts off in the character creator where you can choose between a variety of classes and races. The classes themselves seemingly having access to different equipment and spells just like in any other RPG. I ended up going for a human Champion, the main melee dps class in this game, your regular sword and shield "Warrior". The other options in the character creator aren't that extensive, you can choose between a few presents of faces, hair, hair colour and a few other things but ultimately it is very limited. Once you have created your character you will first start in the game's town. This town contains a variety of buildings, and in them NPCs who serve as vendors and crafters. Now, this town is not 3D, I mean it is modelled in 3D and everything but you don't actually walk around the town with your character, you simply just click on the buildings and npcs you want to interact with. This section got me a bit confused as to whether I was playing a 3rd person action RPG or a point and click adventure. Anyway, after this you will go to the map and this is where you can see all the dungeons, I chose the one closest to the town which was sort of a mansion. The game suggests the difficulty to choose based on your level and once selected you will be put into the actual 3D world of the game for the first time. The movement and controls are what you would expect, you have a spell bar for your spells using your number keys, left click to use your basic attack and right click to block. You unlock new spells as your character levels up, and some of them are tied to certain weapons such as some spells only being for 2 handed weapons and others only being usable with a shield. The combat feels ok, it's nothing special really but it is good enough to leave you engaged at least for a little bit. The dungeon itself is massive, and at first I thought it was procedurally generated, but from what I read on the game's info page this isn't really the case. You go around the dungeon, killing mobs and looting gear, you might also stumble upon a vendor as well as some locked doors for which you need to find a key or a lever to unlock. And of course there are bosses, now to be fair some of these don't feel that different to fight compared to regular mobs, except the fact that they have more health and some special attacks though I did stumble upon this boss who needed to have his coffin destroyed instead of actually killing him which was quite an interesting change. But this is where I get to the big shortcoming of this game, the game doesn't seem to give you any purpose. Sure you can go mindlessly bash enemies left and right all day long but after a few hours of playtime it dawned on me, that there is no story, no objective, no quest and no real motivation to play this game other then getting more loot and more levels. It left me feeling like playing this was pointless because it honestly really feels like it is, unless you somehow really enjoy just killing and looting enemies all day long with no other objective then by all means, this is the perfect game for you, but I did not find it too enticing to play after about 5 hours in. Sure there are different bosses, mobs, differently looking dungeons but at the end of the day it feels like this game leaves a lot to be desired. I will say that for an Indie game this is still an impressive feat but regardless of that I couldn't keep myself playing this for longer then around 5 hours slowly realizing that there was no goal or objective to this game other then level up and loot.

There are A LOT of issues with this game, however there are some redeeming qualities too. First, this game looks, sounds, and plays like a PlayStation 2 game, if this was 2003 it would be fine but it’s not, it’s 2022 and released on PS4/5. This should not have been released the way it has been, feels like an early access game. You can have fun with friends for a few hours but it is very hard to recommend this game. Pros: 4 player split screen, in this day and age this is huge and with friends you can have some fun for a bit. There are a lot of bosses and the dungeons are huge. The Classes feel varied and work really well playing together, using spells and abilities like a dungeon party should. The movement actually is pretty good. Cons: There are a lot of text bugs, the Compendium will use wording like “scraps” or “Magic Power” but the ingame item it refers to is called “fragments” or “Spell Power”. There is a lot of text bugs. It’s ugly, all the textures seem like they are from 2003, the character models are pitiful, the attack animations and effects are equally bad. Audio skips, not often but it’s noticeable. Item info is complicated and messy, text is small, there is no viewing of an item in the inventory without comparison, making the ui confusing. Gameplay feels bad, nothing has any impact, no feedback, you just hit buttons and things die. Crafting is a joke, itemization is bad and never feels impactful.

Bought the game for local coop, not very fun solo but it's fun coop. A bit on the rough edge at first but we got used to it eventually. Text is extremely small in local coop (even on our 75in TV) and item/equipment management is hard. Combat is fun but a bit repetitive. Sometimes we lost the cursor in the main town and second player quests got buggy (can't complete some quests that player 1 could or wrong class item was given). We also got a random quick 1 second hang every 1-2 minutes but we still wanted to play. What really killed the game for me was that my character saves got corrupted and I've lost roughly 5 hours of progress. With limited gaming time and not knowing when this will happen again, I've decided to get a refund on the game. I might revisit the game next year after a few patches but for now everyone should wait for the game to be fully patched.

stupid camera position ruins the game. Put the character in the center!!!!!
