Death Rally

I have played this game in the old DOS days and finished it countless of times and loved every minute of it! When I found out, that I could make the game launch on modern systems, I was thrilled and sunk another few dozen of hours into it. Even after those years it is still way better than the crappy remake. Real golden classic.

Masterpiece! One of my favorite racing games of all time! I've played it back in '96, and still replaying it regularly since then (it's free on Steam!). I just finished my latest replay yesterday :) Unfortunately the remake from 2012 is trash...

This masterpiece ****, had the most fun I ever had with a car game, and I played Carmageddon (1997) before! This game Death Rally is a year before Carmageddon. And all I can say it is indeed fun to play. The writing is funny, the cars honk, you can hit people, shoot the other, put down mines, ram them, buy upgrades to your car etc... IN 1994! I was not even alive for 7 more years man! 10/10

Death Rally is a pretty simple combat racing game, with something of an RPGish career mode. The combat is fun, and the difficulty curve is just right I think, as the random saboteur deals and drug runs let you set the challenge to the level you want.

This first game by Remedy, in its original state, is enjoyable for its retro charm and for being highly representative of its time. However, it is hindered by poor controller compatibility, which, combined with an overly challenging difficulty, makes it cumbersome and frustrating to play. Instead, I would recommend the 2012 remake, which is superior in every aspect.
