The only time you can use the Bat-grapple is when you get an onscreen signal to look for a huge, out of place Bat-insignia perched on the corner of some overhead location. Oh, I guess I'm supposed use my Bat-grapple here. Sheesh!

It's an atrocity to play. [Nov 2001, p.98]

Nothing chaps my hide more than a really good idea for a video game absolutely destroyed by poor controls and subpar cause and effect.

A+(8.7/10) A fantastic pre-Arkham Batman experience. As a fan of the Animated Series, this game absolutely nails the atmosphere — the story is great, the music is terrific, and there's a lot of variety in gameplay. The only real drawback is the combat: clunky, inconsistent, and dated by today’s standards. Controls can feel stiff too. Still, I had a great time and it's easily one of the best batman game out there. If you love Batman, this one is a must-play.

Where do we begin? Batman Vengeance in 2024 is still great fun that holds the test of time 23 years after its initial release in 2001. I absolutely adored this game as a kid, playing for hours, and have very fond memories of many of the games sequences. This was my generations “Arkham” series game. Before Spider-Man 2 (2004) changed the landscape of super hero games, Batman Vengeance was the absolutely best in the business. From today’s point of view, the gameplay and (lack of) camera control can feel slightly clunky but remains very smooth throughout. This being the only drawback for me in the entire game. For a video game that was produced between 1999-2000… this has got to be the “GTA”, gold standard of super hero games - for its time of course- until Spider-Man 2 took the world by storm in 2004. It’s fun to play - hard to put down actually, loaded with action, seamlessly transition from third person to first person when needed, Bat gadgets galore, Bat plane, Batmobile, grapple, fly around with your cape, beat the snot out of henchmen, dive off of structures to rescue the innocent, brain teaser puzzles, and more! There are so many reasons to absolutely adore this game - for something that was released in 2001 it holds up amazingly well even now in almost 2025. There are so many games from the PS2/Xbox/GameCube era that deserve a remaster and this is definitely one of them. I would pay full retail on my Series X for a remaster. Batman games are typically a treasure, and Batman Vengeance has got to be top 5- if not Top 3 of all time. Thanks for reading.

I think this game isn't that good. i think it's OKAY but things are WAY too dark too see, The controles are HORIBLE, it is alittle cartoonish for a teen videogame, it is boring, you need to use the hook shot at surtin' parts, and you need to hand cuf them when their down. This is the worst batman game in HISTORY!!

The game itself is not the next-generation butt-kicking game I hoped it would be, but it is a fun, varied title that, despite harboring some awkward control here, and simplistic design there, winds up being a respectable arcade game, steeped in Batman lore.

Superb graphics and tons of game play make this title more than worthy of a rental at the very least.

Ultimately, Batman: Vengeance is hampered by its linear nature and lack of mental challenge, but the game is still heads and shoulders above all other Batman titles released in the last few years.

Batman Vengeance is a decent and somewhat stylish super hero/adventure game who's ruined by its terrible controls and lame boss fights. I don't recommend it, specially for Batman fans.

This is one of the games that help give Batman the bad reputation in the video game world, first of all it's to dark to see anything going on screen, and the controls are bad, and the story doesn't keep you hooked either, it's definitely one of Batman's worst games.
