I finished the game after 80 hrs, and it's one of the fun Open World JRPG i have play this year. + Exploration is Fun + Story is Engaging and actually Dark for an Atelier game which hooked me + The Characters are very memorable like every atelier games, but out of all Atelier protagonist, Yumia really Resonated me the most and became my favorite Atelier Protagonist +/- While the gameplay is fun the combat, it can get mashy, this is the first Atelier game where its not ATB system and more plays like a action game. +/- The synthesis system is the most i have mixed with, it's more streamlined and easy and will break the game cause of how easy to make S Rank Materials, but i still enjoyed the system even if it's very basic. Such a Fun game, and im really excited for the sequel in the near future!

I tried this after a friend recommended it. I wasn't expecting much, but I ended up enjoying this game a lot. It was light hearted fun. I think it's one of the best games I played this year.

I am into more lighthearted games this is why I love the Atelier series. While Yumia is definitely more darker than the previous games, the exploration is deep and characters are as appealing as ever!

This game is the best I have played this year. Its main mechanic, synthesis, I love because it forces you to collect materials around the map and the synthesis cutscene is amazing. As for the story, I won't spoil it, but I must say it's a marvel, especially from the 3rd area of Aladiss onwards. What I like the most is that they have been adding content like the Falbra Grove. Lastly, I want to highlight its characters, especially Isla who I think is super cute and I love how she is voiced.

With expectation comes disappointment... slight disappointment. Atelier Yumia isn't a bad game, but there is something with the games combat, synthesis, skill/Lv/progression system that just don't click for me, the game feels cluttered. Still a good game, I just prefer some of the older entries.

7/10 + 1 bonus for having an accessible trophy (you can plat the game without doing a bunch of obscure things) Overall the game is good, story is good, characters are likeable and more importantly I didn't find any of them Unbearable. However the game is really carried by the map exploration so it kinda falls flat for an atelier game. Alchemy, I can appreciate what they tried to do here especially with my only other Atelier being Ryza. Not having to spend hours sorting through inventory and collecting umpteen hundreds of a single component hoping the RNG gives you the stats your looking for was great. However their wasn't enough of a hook in the system as it stands to really get you interested in it. Also the lack of cost for duplication was a bummer, made it too easy to duplicate S rank mats and equipment. Once you have the facility you just plunk it in and walk away for a bit, come back to oodles of replicates. Battle. Again, appreciate the idea just wasn't executed. In short the games way too easy even on Harder Difficulties so battles are over before you can get into any of the battle systems depth. And you level way to fast I was Max level before picking up any of the additional Team members outside of Isla and Viktor that you start with. This was the most disappointing because I can see how fun the system could be but even boss fights were over before anything could ramp up. Base Building/Simple Synth. Overall I like the systems and I appreciate that the secondary "items". When you pick up a "Tough Log" you get secondary "Wood" item, so when you do simple Synth or Base building your using up these generic category items and not your actual items. So no need to go hunt down a specific component to build that new bookcase. The only irk here was the specific builds. Some quests would have you build a base with X level comfort, then later on ask you to place a specific build but the only way I could do that was to scrap my entire base. Quest wise it didn't matter, and maybe there was a way around that (if there was it wasn't very intuitive). I was kinda miffed when I had to scrap my 3 story hot spring resort to place a mana converter.... I spent hours on that. As for achievements, they were pretty straightforward. It was nice that you don't even need to unlock all the treasure troves, only locate them. If you need a specific one, it will appear with a quest marker by it if you track the relevant quest. You don't need to do every little side quests, just the important character and pioneer mission ones. The TLDR seems to be I appreciate what they tried to do even if they fell flat in some areas but overall the game was solid and fun to play.

Too many question marks on the map. Too many grind. The map is difficult to access, and it often takes a long time to find the way to a destination that is already right in front of you on the map. Often, after a Google search, you find out that you can only reach the target after making more progress in the main missions. So why are the question marks already appearing? It's annoying. The material grind for crafting is immense, even despite the multiplication in garden sheds. The final sequence after a fight is too long, and if you're really grinding monsters and killing one enemy after another, it just gets annoying at some point. Many things are illogical, for example the expedition leader later being in all base camps at the same time, and you then have to hand in quests to him in one camp and then in another, instead of being able to hand them all in to him in the most current zone. The world has become really beautiful, but at some point the game feels like work.

I’ve played the Arland and Ryza trilogies, and Atelier Yumia was the one I enjoyed the least. The open world is a nice addition, and I liked being able to explore freely, but the rest of the game feels like a step down. The combat is my biggest complaint. It's a button masher with very little strategy, and everything feels too chaotic. The game also has balance issues. You can craft extremely powerful items early on and keep using them through the entire game, even to beat the final boss on very hard. There's not much incentive to improve or adapt. The synthesis system is simpler than in past titles, and crafting or gathering isn’t limited in a way that keeps the challenge fair. Side quests are also pretty dull. Most of them, especially the random ones, feel repetitive and don’t add much. If anything, they just make it easier to get overpowered too quickly. The camera during exploration is another issue. It’s often hard to look where you want, which makes exploring less enjoyable. There are still a few good points. The story has a darker tone, which I liked, and at least it’s not censored like Ryza was. But unless future games really take fan feedback into account and work on combat, balance, and depth, it’s hard to be excited for a sequel.

After feeling lukewarm about the demo, the actual game turned out to be much better as the game opened up with more skills, crafting, and items. Especially after having emotional attachment to all the characters and villains. Best game this year!

garbage battle system basically just battle mash and the alchemy is dumbed down to the max just use the ingredients that have the widest resonance there is no skill involved whatsoever. dungeons require energy so there is always a time limit you can't just explore peacefully or take some time to grind since your energy is always ticking down! no where as good as Sophie 2: the BEST atelier game!

PSA: YOU CAN'T BEAT THE GAME. THERE IS A BUG AT THE FINAL BOSS. Would have gave it a 5/10 if not for it. Other than that, It's fine. I don't understand why they threw out the amazing formula they had with Atelier Ryza 3 (my favorite JRPG of all time). This feels like a poorly designed, decades-old, open world, game rather than a laidback, peaceful, semi-challenging Atelier game. I don't want to build a stupid fence! - I don't play Minecraft, I play Atelier games - and where is the cauldron? I don't want to spend hours watching dancing - especially when it is the same dance over and over. I really miss the cauldron and having a nice looking atelier that I don't have to build by hand. The building mechanics really are frustrating in this game and have no part being here. I hate all the collect-a-thon stuff they throw in the game just to pad the time, like every other generic open-world game. You know what the last game had to pad the time? Story! The world design is pretty sloppy, as well. I can think of at least ten open world games that have better world designs. I am also not a fan of the combat system. I thought they would refine Ryza 3's system, which was amazing. It's not horrible, but not very fun. Devs, please don't make sequels to this and just make an Atelier Ryza 4 - and don't change anything from 3 except the story and refining the systems already in place, and no more of having everyone hate the main character, that's not lighthearted and cozy. (Sigh), It's not a horrible game. It is playable if you got nothing better to do. Just make sure to vote with your wallet and sail the high seas, it's not worth a purchase. Let them know to go back and refine their old formula, not throw it out to make a game that is "trying to be with the times".

I'm a part of the Atelier community since Rorona and this game series is among my favorite games. However Atelier Yumia has so many issues... starting with the performance of the game, awful texturing (yeah you can see very visible seams on rocks etc) but also some game freezes, even on PS5. I also managed to fall through the floor a bunch of times, glitching through mountains etc. The alchemy system is boring compare to the other Atelier games which is sad because it's one of the main reasons why I like the series so much. The story and character writing is great. Exploring can be very frustrating if you missed like one item and now you can't find it because the region is too big. Also please give us an option to view (at least opened) treasure chests on the map.. Also parts of the trophy translation of my native language are just wrong, I was only able to understand the instruction when I switched the language option to English. I won't stop buying Atelier games but I really hope that they won't do another open world game.

It’s a good game, but not very atelier, it lacks both charm and complexity.

Tried really hard to like it. Combat is boring miss the turn based system, alchemy is horrible and unlike any other Atelier game. Seems like they've tried to appeal to a wider audience without caring about the fan base.

We finally get a protag who isn't the worst person in her world and they blew it. The game can look pretty at times, but unfortunately that's the only positive it has going for it. You will rarely be doing any alchemy, which is mostly a positive, since crating anything involves a process that will take you several minutes to complete. The battle system has been overhauled into something that's overly complicated and incredibly easy to win. The new engine clearly could have used some more time in development, because it glitches, stutters, slows down and even once just didn't even show the characters in a battle. Battles take place in their own world, consuming lots of time, and once placing you back in the world can put you in some pretty bad spots. Once it sent me nearly half way across the unlocked map. I'm glad that they're changing up the formula, but this really wasn't the way to do it. Atelier games really need to be alchemy focused, instead of trying to be some other game. Really disappointed in this title, and developer as a whole.

Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & The Envisioned Land is a bold evolution for the Atelier series, offering a more mature narrative, a revamped combat system, and an immersive open world. Despite some technical and design issues, the game is a rewarding experience for JRPG fans and longtime followers of the franchise.

Slick and fun. For a smaller studio this really does rival the big budget AAA titles. An excellent entry in the series.

Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & The Envisioned Land is a bold step forward for the Atelier series, blending deep storytelling with accessible gameplay. Its compelling narrative and memorable characters shine, each tied uniquely to the world of alchemy. The automated synthesis system makes it approachable for newcomers while retaining depth for veterans. Balancing smooth pacing with rewarding challenges, it captivates players. With innovative features and a strong female protagonist, Atelier Yumia stands out as a top JRPG this year. Yumia is more than a protagonist—she’s a rising legend. Mark my words: Yumia will be the next star of gaming industry

Recomendo!

There is a wide range of problems with this game. First of them is the AAA pricing for a game that delivers an underwhelming experience from the PS4 era (Granblue Relink graphics are the bare minimum for games in 2025!), from repetitive and uninspiring gameplay to outdated and ugly graphics; second point are the characters, none of them are interesting with exception of Yumia; and third one are the stiff animations, look at the bike, how a game that asks for an AAA price, can deliver an animation that looks like a png picture moving? Forth, are the lack of free skins, KoeiTecmo holds everything for a DLC you cant unlock anything playing when talking about customization; lastly the soft censoring, like forcing the character to weird poses just to avoid something, making everything unnatural. Conclusion is, wait for a good deal, this is worth 50 dollars at most, I got so disappointed with this game..
