Asphalt 3D
In the end, Asphalt 3D falls below gamers' expected standards. As far as technical aspects go, the controls are fine, while the sound and graphics have some issues. The gameplay is solid enough, but there are very questionable mechanics in play that either do nothing to the experience or ruin a few good moments. Multiplayer is limited by closing off every other mode but one for play, but at least the game makes good use of the StreetPass feature. For racing fans who have become early adopters of the 3DS handheld, stick with Ridge Racer 3D for your racing fix. If you've already grown tired of that game, then try renting this one to see if you can overcome the flaws and squeeze some enjoyment from the title.
Asphalt 3D is an extremely poor port that does not utilize any of the capabilities of the 3DS to any good extent.

It's almost a relief that the game struggling to break free from these severe technical shortcomings is mundane. [May 2011, p.104]

This game feels like a scam. It's so bad it makes Android shovelware look like it's good enough. It's even worse if you think that it was launched at the same time as Ridge Racer 3D, which is an amazing racing game for the 3DS. I don't recommend this to anyone. The graphics are horrible, the soundtrack is even worse, and the absolute worst part is the gameplay. Cars feel weightless, colisions are terribly done, the cars just flick into each other, making it look like it is glitching. It's an overall super cheap and bad experience. Just as I said at the beginning, the game feels like a scam.

Asphalt 3D is a pretty okay launch title for the 3DS, but we all know it isn't perfect... While the car models might seem good, everything else looks like a cheap mobile game... because that's what the game actually is. A bad port of a mobile game. The controls are okay, but the drifting feels way too awkward. None of the music was interesting enough (For me atleast) but it's better than Sonic Chronicles for the DS. Overall, this is an okay racing game, but we all know RIdge Racer 3D is way better.

The game is fun, it looks great, and given the relatively sparse offerings for 3DS launch titles, this one is easy to recommend.

A mixed bag: lots of good ideas mixed with bad execution. I feel that this was a missed opportunity. If the game had a few more months of polish, we could have had two great racing showpieces for the 3DS launch.

An unremarkable but serviceable racer that too often doesn't put its best foot forward. It's a shame it didn't capitalize on its stronger aspects to deliver a more consistently thrilling experience, but even with its flaws, there's some speedy fun to be had on these streets.

Launch titles are often rushed and not representative of what the console can really do, but Asphalt is poor even by these lowered standards. Of all the early 3DS games I've played, this one is a dead cert to be filling bargain bins in a few weeks.

The 3DS did not need two Ridge Racer style arcade racers for its launch, least of all one as badly made as this tiresome wannabe.

Despite the many cups, cars, upgrades, skins, and everything else a cell phone game crams in to substitute for meaningful content, Asphalt 3D falls on its face straight out of the gate with a slipshod port of its mobile equivalent that at least demonstrates how busted most consolized phone games can get.

A decent game that could be better, but you have to admit, with this great selection of cars, amazing graphics and simple controls. The car controls terribly when using the nitro boost though.

Look, it scratches the racing game itch. This game kinda falls into the “so bad it’s good”catagory, but it does do a few things well intentionally. For one, the car/bike models are actually really solid and hold up pretty well today. plus the 3D effect isn’t all that bad either. The primary issue with this game is the choppiness of the gameplay. While it runs without really freezing, the frames drop to quite low levels due to the intense asset rendering (that I assume wasn’t optimised very well for the 3ds.) the choppines does’nt quite make it unplayable, in fact I got used to it pretty quickly. My favourite part about this game is the utter chaos that ensues when multiple CPUs are surrounding you, especially the police in the chase mode. There’s something about the multiple police cars barreling towards me at 500km/h with 5 other racers jamming and no clipping into each other + my poor 3ds having a stroke trying to render it all just brings a smile to my face. It’s just funny watching the absolutely broken AI desperatly try to commit homicide on my vehicle. Some other things to note, while the games menu is messy and unclear, the game does have quite a decent progression system and a decent amount of content that encourages you in all the right ways. Overall, this niche game pulled off far more than I expected of it, while simultaneously being a completely glitchy mess. I’m impressed really, but to rate this anything above a 6 would be a crime. 6/10

Ok, get this straight: Asphalt 3D is just (kind of) a port of Asphalt 5 for iOS onto a 3DS. The gameplay is Ok, but it doesn't feel like you are actually playing an official Asphalt game. It has everything a normal Asphalt game would have, but it has more. This might not be a problem, but you have to do three laps for each race. It has plenty of glitches and as a plus, the are cops trying to take you down. Its not as epic as a normal Asphalt game would feel, and not as immersive either. The 3D effects are not so good. But sure, if you are a casual gamer who happens to have a 3DS and no iPhone or Android, get this game. If you have a mobile phone, get Asphalt 8. It's definitely not the best, but not the worst.
