One of the most enjoyable strategy games perfectly adapted to console. Anno 1800 works really well with a gamepad. Sadly, the game doesn't include the funny and brilliant DLCs of the PC version. [Recommended]

Anno 1800 is one of the most addictive city builders that I’ve played on console, full of gameplay intricacies that create an intoxicating experience. With so many moving parts, it suffers a bit from the typical PC-to-console control issues that plague the genre, but I doubt that will stop you from spending hours building an empire.

Anno 1800 is a stellar strategy game and while the Console Edition has some flaws (e.g. large interface windows cluttering the screen, some technical issues, the lack of major expansions available on PC), they’re not so annoying as to suck the fun out of the experience. However, it seems the PS5 and Xbox version of the game was developed with novices rather than veterans of the series in mind. Regardless, I enjoyed my time with Anno 1800 Console Edition very much.

the game is great. But unfortunately Ubisoft ruins everything. The ps5 version is ok. A little to get used to, but to be able to play it you have to login to Ubisoft, which was annoying but ok, I like the game. I can make yet another account I will never use. But what made me delete the entire game is that you can’t manage saved games. You can’t delete old games or profiles at all. Even when the screen is giving you the option to delete it, nothing happens. You go to system settings to delete saves and you are warned that Ubisoft has sync saves, so if you delete them they will just reinstall from the cloud. I don’t know about you but a game that is literally controlling your hard drive doesn’t deserve my time or money. What a technological disgrace. Putting so much into creating this great game just to have it ruined by a bunch of bureaucratic pencil pushers on marketing.

A well made city builder that doesn’t lack depth but it doesn’t quite have the variety to match the best of the genre.

Anno’s core strength is the cities that it allows you to create. Sometimes it does feel more like a puzzle game than a simulator, as you desperately try to figure out how to give your most demanding residents access to everything they crave. However, the satisfaction of doing it well is almost incomparable for the genre. I am a firm believer that simulation games, at their best, teach you about real-world jobs, processes, and social/cultural/environmental dynamics, whether that be flying a plane, driving a train, running a hotel or building a city. Anno does that, and it presents players with a vision for cities that will, hopefully, be the future of urban planning.

All in all, Anno 1800 is one of the best building games on the market, even on the console. Of course, the port in its current form is not very interesting for those switching from the PC. There is simply too much content missing and the change in handling can't be ignored. But as a pure console player, you can look forward to a top-class building game that will excite you for countless hours.

I have 311 platinums in PlayStation. I know what good game is. This is in my top 10 list in my all game life. Sooo much fun and makes you addicted to the game. At first it seems like to be boring but when you understand the game you will the game.

Only have about 15 hours so far, but really enjoying the game. I'm still learning all of the games many management functions and tricks for success, as it becomes pretty difficult fairly into a new run to keep up with if you make mistakes. I do wish some of the paid DLC skin packs were included into the base game, I'm not upset that there's cosmetic DLC to purchase but the vanilla game should have come with more options for buildings still. The music is simply beautiful and the graphics are amazing for a city builder sim game. Control wise it can be a little quirky as the game was obviously designed for mouse and keyboard, but they did a good job making it work well enough on console. I can't comment on how fun the multiplayer is because I've sat in matchmaking for over 5 minutes several times and gave up, but it's a pretty niche game for console players so I expected that. Overall the game is probably an "8" for me so far, but giving it a "10" because anyone giving the game a "0" just because they apparently had to use an email to play the free demo is simply a ridiculous thing to trash a game over in 2023. It's a really great game if you like this genre.

Very good port: the best city-building sim for consoles! The controller control needs some practice but works nicely.

Anno 1800 Console Edition will eat hours if you let it. One minute you're ruminating over where to place a lumberjack's hut, the next you're connecting a huge network of warehouses.

Anno 1800 Console Edition is an excellent translation of a deep, satisfying PC strategy experience to console. With engaging mechanics and an insane amount of replay value (not to mention multiplayer), anyone looking for a more arcade-kind of management sim will find a happy home here.

ANNO 1800 succeeds in making itself playable and enjoyable on home consoles. It's rather beautiful, and the gameplay with the controller is successful, although it will take a little time to get used to it. On the other hand, if the game is nice to the eye, it has a few technical glitches that will make the less patient players complain. Some of the game's loading times are quite long, textures sometimes have trouble displaying when zooming in and the framerate seems to be slowed down quite often. It's also a shame that the game is not as well supplied as its PC version. It lacks quite a bit of content. And even though you'll already have enough to play for many hours, you can't help but be disappointed. Anyway, it's hard to sulk your pleasure, ANNO 1800 on consoles is successful and will satisfy fans of the genre.

Anno 1800 is a truly fantastic city-builder, a game you can easily lose yourself in for hours on end, watching your meticulously planned industrial and trade empires come to life. The transition of this complex PC experience to consoles is nothing short of superb; the controls feel intuitive and the UI is remarkably well-adapted, making the entire building process smooth and engaging. However, what I was not prepared for were the sometimes laughably long loading times, especially when first booting up the game. I also found the inclusion of some "text adventures" to be entirely unnecessary and quite distracting from the core gameplay loop. My biggest disappointment, by far, is the complete lack of any of the excellent DLCs that have made the PC version so robust. For a game that thrives on expansion and complexity, the absence of any post-launch content on the console is a major drawback and a significant missed opportunity.

This game is definitely going to be popular with a certain demographic of gamers, but for me the whole thing is far far too slow. As you enter a new technology phase you often have to re-juggle all of your resources, re-balancing as you go isn't a challenge but it's just dreadfully time consuming. I reached a point where my resources were stable and the end was in sight but then I realized I would have to spend countless hours waiting to build up an armada. A half dozen instantly built harbour turrets can annihilate a 15 strong fleet. I figured I could guess the outcome and stop wasting my time. I much preferred the previous titles where resource management wasn't a full time faff.
