the game is great. But unfortunately Ubisoft ruins everything. The ps5 version is ok. A little to get used to, but to be able to play it you have to login to Ubisoft, which was annoying but ok, I like the game. I can make yet another account I will never use. But what made me delete the entire game is that you can’t manage saved games. You can’t delete old games or profiles at all. Even when the screen is giving you the option to delete it, nothing happens. You go to system settings to delete saves and you are warned that Ubisoft has sync saves, so if you delete them they will just reinstall from the cloud. I don’t know about you but a game that is literally controlling your hard drive doesn’t deserve my time or money. What a technological disgrace. Putting so much into creating this great game just to have it ruined by a bunch of bureaucratic pencil pushers on marketing.

A well made city builder that doesn’t lack depth but it doesn’t quite have the variety to match the best of the genre.

I have 311 platinums in PlayStation. I know what good game is. This is in my top 10 list in my all game life. Sooo much fun and makes you addicted to the game. At first it seems like to be boring but when you understand the game you will the game.

Anno 1800 is a truly fantastic city-builder, a game you can easily lose yourself in for hours on end, watching your meticulously planned industrial and trade empires come to life. The transition of this complex PC experience to consoles is nothing short of superb; the controls feel intuitive and the UI is remarkably well-adapted, making the entire building process smooth and engaging. However, what I was not prepared for were the sometimes laughably long loading times, especially when first booting up the game. I also found the inclusion of some "text adventures" to be entirely unnecessary and quite distracting from the core gameplay loop. My biggest disappointment, by far, is the complete lack of any of the excellent DLCs that have made the PC version so robust. For a game that thrives on expansion and complexity, the absence of any post-launch content on the console is a major drawback and a significant missed opportunity.

I always have loved the Anno games and seeing one on the PS5 is amazing! This game is very clean and polished and works well with a controller. Although I would have liked to see all the DLC added from the PC version it still has tons of hours of content that will not disappoint! Can't wait to see the next Anno on the PS5!

Meh, the game isn't for everyone. I liked it at first, but then everything got very confusing and difficult at the same time. There isn't much explanation on how to do some things, and if strategy, continuous progression, and the like aren't your thing, don't play it.

Made an account specifically to criticize this game. I hear it's great on Steam - but it's literally unplayable on PS5. Save your time and money.

Only have about 15 hours so far, but really enjoying the game. I'm still learning all of the games many management functions and tricks for success, as it becomes pretty difficult fairly into a new run to keep up with if you make mistakes. I do wish some of the paid DLC skin packs were included into the base game, I'm not upset that there's cosmetic DLC to purchase but the vanilla game should have come with more options for buildings still. The music is simply beautiful and the graphics are amazing for a city builder sim game. Control wise it can be a little quirky as the game was obviously designed for mouse and keyboard, but they did a good job making it work well enough on console. I can't comment on how fun the multiplayer is because I've sat in matchmaking for over 5 minutes several times and gave up, but it's a pretty niche game for console players so I expected that. Overall the game is probably an "8" for me so far, but giving it a "10" because anyone giving the game a "0" just because they apparently had to use an email to play the free demo is simply a ridiculous thing to trash a game over in 2023. It's a really great game if you like this genre.

This game is definitely going to be popular with a certain demographic of gamers, but for me the whole thing is far far too slow. As you enter a new technology phase you often have to re-juggle all of your resources, re-balancing as you go isn't a challenge but it's just dreadfully time consuming. I reached a point where my resources were stable and the end was in sight but then I realized I would have to spend countless hours waiting to build up an armada. A half dozen instantly built harbour turrets can annihilate a 15 strong fleet. I figured I could guess the outcome and stop wasting my time. I much preferred the previous titles where resource management wasn't a full time faff.

The game is not bad but it is dull and limited without having DLCs which are not planned to be released on the console. Overall it does not deserve its pricey tag. Dividing cosmetics packs into many different packages and pricing them expensively is also a shame. If it was released as a full package including DLCs, it would be really a good game, what a miss. Controls are OK, neither good nor bad.

It is a pretty solid game, probably the best city-building strategy game for consoles yet. But to be fair consoles typically haven’t much good titles of this genre. The controls are pretty well done. Personally I miss the great content DLCs from the PC version and I’m very disappointed I can’t get them for the console. For this reason I can’t give a rating more than 8.

Great job, I have played Anno 1800 on PC too, but now I enjoy that even more.

With the new Console Edition of "Anno 1800", Ubisoft managed to take a huge step towards a perfect implementation of a strategy game on the home console. The controls and graphics are simply great and make every second fun. The storyline and sound are also a joy to play and make it hard to put the controller down. The different modes are fun and constantly push newcomers and veterans alike to new challenges. Unfortunately, there would be more to use in the insertion of the PS5 controller's features. Nevertheless, you get a really great strategy game for the console with the new Console Edition of "Anno 1800".

Its one of the best city building/strategy games I have ever played. It checks all boxes. Except, the UI and controls are terrible in different ways. Buttons can have different menus mapped to it, yet one has to press the red button each time to exit one menu, then enter one other instead of just switching directly. This would be much of a problem, if the controls were not so damn unresponsive. Often you end up in some submenu, completely not where you want to be. To make matters worse, often, in different menus it keeps scrolling no matter what you do, so you cannot select anything anymore. Even reloading doesn't help. Only a complete restart of the game. Later on in the game it happens every 15 min. This is a bad bug. If it werent for the bad UI and controls, it woukd be a 10

I tried the demo but unfortunately you need a Ubisoft account to actually play. Hard pass.

Anno 1800, subpar edition. the 9, day one cosmetic DLC's was my first clue, that this game was a rip-off (glad it had free trial). I started the game and it took longer than it should have to figure out how to blow up the fish. When i got my city started, i could only fulfill 2 of the 3 requirements and the game offered no tutorial or help as to how to advance. I was not impressed by then anyway and quit and uninstalled. Ubi has got so bad, it seems like obiden is working for them .

Very good Game. Ive got lost in the Trial for hours. Now ive bought it. My last Anno is now 25 Years ago.... The Console Controls are very good. Maybe they give us the DLCs if the Game sucess a little. So much lovely Details. (Try the "Konami Code" Easter Egg to walk in 1st Person)

great game! I had never played Anno1800 before because I don't own a PC. Finally Anno1800 came out for the consoles and I'm obsessed! The control was solved very well, I'm positively surprised. One negative point: most of the time the textures have to reload. Hopefully the dlc's will also come for the consoles

30 fps in "next-gen" 4 years old game on PS5 in 2023. Are you kidding? "Welcome to the 19th century" – that is true. Absolutely unplayable. Sony, give me a way to make a refund.
