Stepping into Hades II is like I only played Hades (I) just yesterday. So if you've played that game, you'll feel right at home. The voice-acting is great, as is the music. And the art style is colourful and has very much a personality of its own. So totally recommend the game. BUT, there is one minus that I have to mention: the main story line is just too long. I had fun with lots of runs, but towards the ending it really started to drag, esp. because a run towards 'the top' takes quite some time. Also, the game doesn't tell you that 2 main goals cannot be worked on until you have completed the main story line.

Mind you: this IS a great game, with great voice-acting, tons of lore, tons of possibilities for strategy, and more. BUT, I do not recommend it _for a player like me_: I am not familiar with D&D, and I'm also not a tactical (game-type) player. Deep game mechanics are not really my cup of tea. And this game has tons of mechanics, and a lot of D&D. So I missed what a lot of the lore was about, I usually had no idea which attributes or skills of my party members I should focus on, and more. I felt like I was just doing random things, hoping for the best. And the game studio (Larian) has added lots of info pop-ups and tutorials, so it's not like they do not try to help you. But I just couldn't get into this game. I have played "Baldur's Gate 3", and played through it to the end (albeit on a lower difficulty). So I can recommend that game to people with a similar playstyle as mine.

If you want to play all 3 batman Arkham games, then sure play this. The game looks good _given its age_. Mechanic-wise it feels rather dated, and after a while rather repetitive. What's more, the controls can be quite frustrating (who ever thought it would be a good idea to map climb and roll to the same button...?) and slow to respond. Which leads to many an annoying death.

To be honest: I did not like the game that much in the first few hours. Like so many games, Arc Raiders doesn't explain a number of important things, and its UI can take some time to get used to. So do yourself a favour, and watch a few "beginner's guide" videos before you dive in. And apparently I was quite unlucky with which enemies I encountered in my first sessions, as I was killed twice on the same day by a Rocketeer, just when I had been able to **** together some good gear. But after that initial phase, and a lot of grumps, I get better at the game, and really started to get into it. My review after playing about 35 hours, and as PvE-gamer (I'm not into PvP). POSITIVES: - The new matchmaking has greatly increased the chances that if you only play PvE, you will actually be in sessions with only, or mostly, PvE players (but see "negatives" for more on that); - If you do only encounter other PvE players out in the world, you can have very fun and amusing moments. Like people who spontaneously help you out in a tricky situation. Or people who are walking around just making music. Things like that: that I love(d)! - There are a lot of things to do, so when you go out on raids, you'll pretty much always find a few things that you can use for upgrades, projects, and more; - The sound design is great, so I strongly recommend playing with headphones, as you'll be able to detect enemies much better & earlier that way; NEGATIVES: - I've stopped playing the game for now. I only play PvE, and with the new matchmaking, that mostly leads to pleasant gameplay. However, the moment PvP players are on the map (even the lower difficulty ones), that enjoyment goes out the window for me. I'm just not into PvP, esp. not with "sweaties". Until the game is changed so that there is a hard 'wall' between the 2 play styles, I will not play the game any further. (Think of that what you want); - Your stamina is limited, which I get from a game mechanic point of view. But lore/story wise it makes no sense, as you're moving through miles of maps, yet you still have the stamina of 100 year old. And when ARCs gang up on you, you run out of it very fast...; - If you have to investigate things for a story quest, and that action results in an object, that object is NOT added to your inventory automatically, contrary to what happens in pretty much any other game. The times I thought I'd (partially) finished a quest, only to find out I did not actually pick up the required object, were many, and frustrating; - Server connections can be spotty at times;

I really like how they modernized the concept of a point & click adventure. And the voice acting is very good. And there is a good story, if somehow "out there".... However, from about chapter 4 and further on, the frustrations really started to grow for me. Quite a lot of things you have to do to move ahead, are just not very intuitive/obvious. Or sometimes even completely farfetched. What really isn't helping, is when the mechanics of things get in the way. Like when you have to repeat the same action multiple times to get right/final result. Or that when you look at something at the wrong time, you will not find something, making you think what you need is not there (or nothing you could need is there), and then later it suddenly is. This felt like I had no choice but to just click on everything multiple times, regardless of the fact of this made any sense. And that I was just trying random stuff. And some combinations of objects you have to make are not very intuitive. There usually aren't that many objects at most moments, so you can brute-force it, but that is not how I want to play a game like this. So that is why I don't like the game in the end, and do not recommend it.

The skills, potions, and inventory system is quite extensive, but I found it very manageable. If I had to name any real negative, it is that horse riding (no matter how nice Roach is) can be finicky at times, so often I would just run on foot as that would make things easier & almost as quick. I totally can recommend this game. And don't forget to play the 2 story DLCs that are available, as they are very good as well.

A great looking game, with interesting world building and good storytelling. For that I give it a thumbs up. What didn't work - for me - were the dialog choices you have to make. For some it felt like a random guess as to which response would be the right/best one. For example, say you encounter a character that becomes aggressive, do you give a calm response to cool them down, or do you push back even harder to nip this in the bud? Both options can be 'right' options, depending on that character. And I did not feel I got enough info to know which one to pick. And picking the wrong one more than once had (really) bad consequences (incl. losing a **** maybe this is a "what if"-game, where you are supposed to go through the scenarios multiple times to try different reactions. But than it feels like I'm playing a mechanism, and not a story.

I loved "Vermintide II" a lot. So when Darktide came out I was very much looking forward to **** first version of Darktide disappointed me a lot. Luckily Fatshark gave the game (well, mostly the skills system) a do-over, and now I like it a lot. The game isn't anything shockingly inventive or very deep, but I like it for the often stupid fun that it is. And I really like the chatter between the characters, which is very funny and on-point (with great accents :-)). My biggest negative of the game is some of the players. Like the 'speed runners' who just run ahead & vacuum up all the goodies, and don't care about the other players. Or players which keep drifting off from the group, then getting killed or mauled (the game punishes drifting off just as much as Vermintide II does), and not learning anything from it. But if you get the right group of fellow players, the game is a blast and a half!

The game is very good, and I can see a lot of things that I recognize from RDR2, like locations, but also voice actors (sometimes in different roles). Graphically for a game this old, it looks as good as it can. For a modern gamer, the controls can be a bit fiddly at times though. They probably wanted to give the player a complete experience, but I think they could have trimmed some things off. As some missions just felt repetitive or a bit like filler.

A very nice game with over-the-top, bloody/gory combat. Set in a universe of which I only know the outlines, but I still like it. The 'single-player' campaign is a good way to get into the game, as everything you need to play the game is shown in increments. The PvE part of the game opens up as you progress through the campaign, and is most likely where you will spend the most playing time (I did not play the PvP part, as PvP is not my cup of tea). The difficulty of the PvE felt higher to me than the campaign, but you get used to that. And going up in difficulty often increases it quite significantly, so beware! But doing so also opens up ways to unlock better weapens & perks. All in all I like this hack-n-slash game a lot. However, it is not free from bugs or weird design choices. Like how you cannot see your melee move set outside of being in a fight. Or the matchmaking system, which does not take your class into account, which can lead to duplicate roles in the team, which are not possible and will have to be resolved. At least make it so, so that no players are added to the team which have the same role as the leader. Or add an option "I only want to join a session where I can play with the current role - I don't mind waiting longer if I have to for that". And there are occasional game crashes. Also, when you are kicked from a game you should at least get the XP you have accrued sofar. Currently you get nothing, and I have been booted from the game because I had some trouble keeping up. And was booted at 2/3 of the session, meaning I lost about 20 minutes playing time and got nothing for it...

Some trimming/pruning here and there really would have helped. I started out by completing every ghost "haunt" I came across, because they are well made, and you get some nice rewards from them. But by doing these, the total game time goes up quite a bit. And there are a lot of them in the game. Towards the end, I just wanted the game to be over, and hurried through the last 2-3 chapters. Which is a shame, as that took away from the emotional connection that is built up between the two main characters. Also, combat can be a bit clumsy at times. And the game got stuck (crashed) a few times, but maybe XBox's Quick Resume was to blame for that (as I have experienced issues with that with other games).

This game looks very good, and the music is nice. But it also plays very much like Diablo III, which I also gave a "mid" 7. The story is functional, but takes way too long, and is too complicated for this game. It also boils down to "your princess is in another castle" numerous time (where the princess is Lillith, obviously). The campaign mode also has far too many unneccesary in-between stops, where you are sent all over the map, just for the conversation to sort of move along for a few sentences: "Meet me at X. Okay, we are at X but we need to find Y which is at Z: meet me there. We are now at Z, and something something, so now we have to meet at Q. etc.". And if those journeys were interesting, that would be fine, but I found myself mostly just moving through sort of the same environments, getting into more or the less same fights. So if you like a lot & a lot of samey battles for random loot (which if you do: fine - I don't judge that), than this is the game for you. But I myself would have wanted a shorter/more focused game, or a game that is more involving than it is now.

If you like Far Cry games, you will like this one too. I bought it in a combo with Far Cry Primal, and they are very similar game mechanic wise. If I'd have to chose, I'd say I like Primal over FC4. Plusses of the game: I like the campyness of Pagan Min (being mean with a British accent never gets old ;-)), the music is good, and there is a lot to explore (well, it is a Far Cry game, so duh...). Minusses of the game: just like in Primal, applying healing often takes too long. Some mechanics in the game (like C4) are not explained very well. I found the weapon handling to be rather clumsy compared to other shooters I know. The storyline in the game is functional, but not very surprising, and at times even a bit disappointing. And towards the end of the game, enemies become quite the bullet sponges (like, there is this armored guy with a flame thrower, and you have to shoot him in the face with a rocket launcher 4 times to kill him, where one shot is often enough to blow up a car or truck...).
