Return of the Obra Dinn10
Sep 26, 2021
The only thing I didn't like about Obra Dinn was when it was over with... I could play 100 games like this one and still be hungry for more.

Viviette7
Sep 4, 2020
DYA Games has created something magical with Viviette. It's like an SNES horror adventure with cute but macabre graphics. This game makes great use of the Switch's screen capture feature; I used it when I came across something of interest, so recalling where things are located and which clues I needed for puzzles was a snap. Viviette isn't for everyone (if you don't enjoy classic adventure, puzzle solving, or exploration-based games, I'd steer clear). But if you're like me and you love a scary old mansion, figuring out which object to use where and well-crafted retro style games, Viviette is worth the money.

Super Mario Party7

It's another OK addition to the Mario Party franchise. The lack of a complete online multiplayer experience is seriously not cool; that was literally the primary reason I purchased the game. I'm a bit bummed.

Octopath Traveler8
Jul 4, 2019
This is a wonderful concept and the graphic style is both beautiful and innovative. Octopath Traveler is just barely short of being on par with the best of the best in its genre, but I love classic turn-based RPGs and I love this game.

Picross S 37

The presentation is excellent but Picross S3 contains waaaay too many easy beginner-style puzzles.

Castlevania Anniversary Collection8
Jul 4, 2019
I was initially elated by a collection of classic Castlevania titles--and they are worth revisiting--but felt just slightly underwhelmed by the number of titles included for the price I paid. The Switch version does allow for controller mapping, which is absolutely essential.

Submerged6
Jul 4, 2019
I love the storyline of Submerged and I initially really enjoyed exploring its flooded city, but eventually the gameplay became repetitive and not very rewarding. It's decent game for the price point.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker10

For fans of exploration-based games, this chapter in the Zelda franchise is not to be missed.

Bad Dream: Fever4
May 23, 2019
This felt like a really cheap smartphone adventure game and the interface was very problematic for me. I played both on the Switch's touch screen and using the control pad; either way I found myself clicking on an endless array of tiny objects just trying to make something happen. Nothing is explained well, the object-based puzzles are maddening (and this is coming from a graphic adventure fan), and I just didn't care enough about this game to see it through.

Until Dawn8
May 23, 2019
Highly satisfying for fans of cinematic-style survival horror (like me!) The action is downplayed somewhat n favor of establishing ambience, but when it does happen, it grips you like a chill-wind slap in the face. The characters, overall, are well crafted, superbly acted and made me care about the storyline.

Cuphead8
May 23, 2019
Cuphead's aesthetic is nothing short of truly wonderful. The gameplay is good but heavily favors playing with a partner, as going it alone will send even seasoned gamers into volcanic bouts of rage at its near-absurd unforgiving level of difficulty.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate10
Dec 28, 2018
9.5. If you're a fan of the series, there's really nothing not to like here. SSB Ultimate is like a Smash Bros. anthology. There's a staggering amount of content, and you really get the feeling that Nintendo crammed in every ounce they were able to into this game.

Coming Out On Top8
Dec 28, 2018
On its own, an excellent visual novel with a massive amount of possibilities to choose from. There's a ton of great humor to be found in the game, the dialogue is expertly written and feels very natural, not wooden like so many other titles in the genre. As a gay-themed game, Coming Out on Top doesn't disappoint. It's hot. Like, seriously hot. Big kudos to the artists for serving up grade A prime male hotness, and if you're able to get the uncensored version, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Stardew Valley9
Dec 28, 2018
For me, **** Valley hit a lot of right notes: beautiful 16-bit-era graphics, tons and tons of things to do and collect, just the right amount of weirdness, and a satisfying blend of action and farming simulator game play. There's a lot of heart in this game, too; the more you get to know the residents of **** Valley, the more you'll experience as far as plot depth. I'd give this game an 8.5 overall if I could, but I'll round up to a 9.

Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors9
Dec 28, 2018
If you can get past the forced slow pacing of the hefty amounts of text in this game, you'll find one of the most engrossing, chilling and satisfying story-based adventure titles ever released. For those new to the visual novel genre, you will be reading a LOT in this game. If you're a fan of classic point-and-click adventures, this one is not to be missed. Multiple endings create good replay value, and the characters and dialogue are solid. I couldn't put this game down!
