The Shining10
May 5, 2025
I finally sat down for "the shining" this past weekend with south park's parody of it being the only pre-conceived notions that I had. This movie lives up to its name, being a little comical at times to today's horror standards, yet still creating a timeless creepy atmosphere the whole time. The soundtrack stood out to me as it manipulated my heart beat in different scenes. Even at the subtle glance from the son, a new sound would appear and draw up a new emotion from the viewer. The Maze was enough to drive anyone insane, and I found the concept of the film to be novel (of course) despite it being older. I am quite happy I finally saw this and know why everyone has hyped it up for so long.

A Complete Unknown9
Feb 1, 2025
I used to listen to Bob Dylan cds in my first car in high school and this movie was a nostalgic walk down an era I had forgotten about. This was timothy chalamet's best performance yet, and the story was wonderful. He nailed the dialect, singing, and outfits throughout the film to a scary degree. Any time there's news showing the "political landscape" throughout a movie it feels a little lazy, but other than that I was a huge fan of "a complete unknown." Everyone who partook was great, including elvis / joan baez and woody / petey. I don't think I would've gone to see this without some encouragement and I'm so glad I did.

Office Space10
Jan 21, 2025
Comedies and films like office space hardly come out these days. The dynamic between the main actor and his boss are hilarious and I felt it on so many levels. Watching the other guy get sent to the basement over time was funny and I could totally see the end coming. I was laughing so much throughout this movie and found it to be an original concept that'll stick with me for a while. Anyone who's ever worked in an office or corporate environment will appreciate this film, the outstanding actors, and the various issues that face corporate America today. I wish I saw this sooner, and recommend this to anyone looking for an entertaining night.

I didn't know what to expect coming into this film and I'm definitely pleased. I knew vaguely of the story and it makes more sense to me now seeing all of the conflicting opinions. The interviews were great relief and the skating scenes were tense just as it should be. I thought Tanya's husband was great in this and her mother's portrayal as well. This definitely kept my attention as she fought for her right to be at the olympics and navigated everyone wanting a piece of her. I felt for Tanya by the end and definitely wish I could go back to some of the athletic feats of my past. I would recommend this as a historically relevant film given the role news has as well.

Going in Style6
Nov 8, 2024
Going in style was exactly what you’d expect from a bank heist - gone geriatric. It was very fun to watch and was light hearted, I would recommend to anyone. The banker is quite funny and the film even comes full circle as the young saves the old by the end. This isn’t a complex or difficult storyline, and I definitely laughed a few times. Very remniscent of “last vegas” and “the bucket list”. Some buddies trying to have fun with nothing left to lose as the end of life comes near. The main investigator did a great job, and so did the girl at the end. What a fun way to end a tale like this and bring everything together.

Joker: Folie à Deux0
Oct 13, 2024
Joker 2 was an atrocity following the first movie. No matter the intentions of the studio, investors, or director, it's insane how far this movie got without anyone stopping for a second to say, hey, this is like, horrible? The movie tries so hard to get a message across and it results in one of the best actors ever tap dancing next to one of the worst actresses ever. I love Joaquin per usual but it should've been him on the big screen instead of focusing on lady gaga and his followers. The movie is called "Joker." He doesn't have a dual personality. This is dumb. He is a villain from a comic book. The songs also ****.

Fool's Paradise6
Sep 4, 2024
Fool's paradise wasn't what I expected at all when looking at previews or the cover image. I was pleasantly surprised by the all star cast, and sheer ridiculousness of the plot. Charlie Day's performance is outstanding and whimsical as he gets thrown about the fringes of Hollywood. It reminded me of late night interviews, red carpet photoshoots, and all of the idealization that takes place despite taking into account the human nature of each actor and actress. Don't get me wrong, this wasn't my favorite movie, but I chuckled at a few parts of it and was glad to have watched it in the end. I'd recommend it if you're working on something else or in for a fun, easy movie to watch.

Boy Kills World9
Aug 21, 2024
I had a blast watching this movie and thought it was even more appealing than something like Monkey Man. This was farther away from John Wick, which I liked, and the fanciful costumes/his imagination getting in his way constantly made it quite unpredictable. I thought the inner voice was a good idea as well, and he was a great leading actor. The dystopian vibes, costumes, and production throughout the entire movie were impressive and colorful. This was sensory overload in all the right ways. I think for a modern revenge film this surpasses my standards by far when "judging the book by its cover."

The Magnificent Seven7
Aug 20, 2024
"The Magnificent Seven" is a classic western movie that older generations might enjoy, but with new modern tropes that don't make much sense. This was easy and fun to watch, something that's hard to find these days, but I found the "personas" to be conflicting with the dirt and shootouts. Major parts of this film could've been improved but it was cool seeing Chris Pratt be in a role like this. I'm surprised I didn't watch this much sooner.Every member of the seven has their own personal struggles and storylines they bring to the equation, and it's fun watching them come together despite those odds for a greater purpose.
