Blade is an entertainingly macabre and excitingly staged action horror, with a propulsive energy and a prototype “bullet time” sequence one year before the Wachowskis made it famous in The Matrix.
75
Wesley Snipes understands the material from the inside out and makes an effective Blade because he knows that the key ingredient in any interesting superhero is not omnipotence, but vulnerability.

This is one of the best Comic book movies ever made imo and is very late 90s and early 2000s which I absolutely love

Blade doesn't manage to work up a whole lot of suspense.
50
For most of its two-hour running time it simply flings a barrage of horrors at the audience, enhanced with the most imaginative science-fiction atmospherics this side of "Dark City," which incidentally was a far more original picture.
40
Although the opening scene suggests a dark urban satire, Blade quickly turns into a cartoonish futuristic action-adventure yarn in which Blade is the only thing keeping humanity from being exterminated by vampires in a hematological holocaust.
30
Adapted from the Marvel Comics series, this movie lacks the mournfulness that sustains a good horror strip; it's trashy, but too deafening and invasive to have the appeal of good pulp.
20
Working from a script by David S. Goyer ("Dark City") that lacks any sense of humor or character, Snipes seems unsure if he should vamp it up or play it straight, while Dorff just plain sucks.

The vampire hunter movie par excellence! Despite his proud 25 years, not a day older! You can watch the film over and over again, the action, the exciting story, the crazy soundtrack, especially the main actors Wesley Snipes, Stephen Dorff, Kris Kristofferson and the supporting actors N'Bushe Wright, Donal Logue, Udo Kier, Sanaa Lathan are simply bombastic good! Everything fits! AWESOME! This is the best casting, a top choice! It just doesn't get any better! TOP! TOP! TOP! BRAVO! AWESOME! AWESOME!

The cinematography and effects haven’t aged well. It all looked a bit smeary. Most of the computer effects looked pretty bad but thankfully they were fairly rare. It looked good enough to watch. I liked the sound design, which has aged better than the ****’s a bloke film like Species (1995) and Predator (1987) but with Wesley Snipes running around killing vampires. It’s not as good as either of those films though. The characters are all fairly memorable and it is entertaining. The martial arts fighting looks dated, well any martial arts before The Matrix (1999) looks dated. There isn’t much depth but if you have a beer in your hand then who cares? It can be a little slow in places.

"Blade" has its right character with Wesley Snipes as the Vampire hunter Blade. But the movie is bathed in the wrong dialogues and childish scripts.
