A Star Is Born9
Oct 14, 2018
This movie is nothing short of amazing. Bradley Cooper, after showing us that he can bring it in front of the camera, in movies like American Hustle, The Hangover and Silver Linings Playbook, he now shows us that he can also bring it behind the camera, and oh boy he brought it Not only he worked wonders directing this film, he was great acting in it as well, Lady Gaga was amazing as well, in a role that was basically tailored made for her, and really the supporting characters were amazing too. The music is one of the best i've seen in a movie, music that contribute to the story, and give another depth to what is already a great movie. The movie flows so well, the contrast between Ally's rising career and Jack's slowly hitting rock bottom with his alcoholism, was amazing. The movie shows that, the music industry can make people lose themselves, as Ally starts with something to say, but quickly shifts into this typical pop sensation, showing and talking about her body, looking for approval, is epic. And lady gaga portrayed that really well. Seeing Jack, slowly realizing he's loosing her to the music industry is heartbreaking, and leading to the movies tragic scene. At times some characters moments seemed rushed, like important moments just seemed to be shoehorned in the movie, like their wedding, seemed to be really rushed, while i think it could have been a beautiful moment. I have so much praise for this movie, it is definitely one of my favorites this year, and i can only recommend for people to watch it. I watched it in an almost empty room and it made me sad that more people didn't go watch this masterpiece

Night School4
Sep 30, 2018
Night School promises with a good premise, but fails to make it count. The story of what could be a dive into different characters lives and their problems is totally skipped, making all the characters (expect for Kevin Hart's) seem like props, just to be used. With this movie, Tiffany Haddish shows that she might just be able to play one type of character, a very bad performance from someone who really seemed uncomfortable in her role. There are some hilarious moments, but really they don't completely make up for the moments of pure stupidity, bad acting and really making learning disabilities seem like a joke, then a problem

Ant-Man and the Wasp7
Aug 18, 2018
You expect Ant-Man to be funny, and it truly manages to be hilarious, and very entertaining. The action sequences between Ghost and Ant-Man and the Wasp were so good, so well choreographed. The acting doesn't disappoint and i'm glad they gave Luis more piece of the action. It knows it's a comic book movie, and it treats itself like one. Unfortunately the plot falls a bit flat, i didn't really see the need for the Sonny Burch character, that really felt like an unnecessary sub-plot in the end. Which kinda dragged down the movie. You can sympathize with the villain, she just doesn't want to die, which most people can relate to. But i wish they would have deepen the relationship between Ghost and Foster, would have made for a much better movie. End of the day it is a very entertaining and funny movie, and that's all i expected from Ant-Man and The Wasp, so i was far from disappointed

The Darkest Minds2
Aug 12, 2018
Darkest Minds begins hitting heavy, but unfortunately fails to continue that way. What really seems to me like a remix of the movie "Divergent" (which isn't a good thing), The Darkest Minds, focuses on a very forced love story, forcing even more a triangle than actually focusing on children dying over something that gives the survivors powers. Instead it turns into a generic, boring and heavily cliched movie, with corny dialogue that will make you roll your eyes until you have a migraine. There is absolutely NO RESOLUTION to any plot lines, making this feel like a 104 minute long introduction to a sequel. But let's be honest here, will a sequel really happen?

Mission: Impossible – Fallout9
Aug 6, 2018
Being the 6th movie of a franchise, it could easily fall into the trap of a lazy story telling and generic action sequences. But i’m here to tell you this movie does not. I’m amazed how after 6 movies, this franchise still manages to make unique movies like this. Going to start talking about the action scenes. Completely amazing, purposefully, well thought out and well choreographed action sequences. This is what Fallout gives us, there was a scene, where Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and Walker (Henri Cavill) are fighting someone in a bathroom. The punches feel so real, the sequences was awesome, and brutal. The cinematography was amazing, more than what i was expecting from a Mission: Impossible movie. And that is because they use practical effects instead of CGI or green screen. That makes the experience as real as possible. Performances, were great from everyone. Not only Tom Cruise, with amazing acting and stunts, but the supporting cast did a great job. Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames were incredible as always, Rabecca Ferguson also did a great job. And this has to be Henry Cavill’s best performance. He was great in the action scenes and his character felt intimidating like it should be. Talking about the story is where i have my first minor issue with this movie. It seems a bit recycled, and to make it completely original after 6 movies, is a bit of a stretch. The big twist is a bit obvious, you can really see it coming. But this doesn’t make the story less mesmerizing, the script was great and the director did a great work into moving the story along in such a way that every scene, every shot and every line of dialogue is extremely important, because it really is. The characters are great too. Ethan Hunt is incredibly charming, and the length he goes to not kill innocent people just makes him more of a compelling character. The villains where great, although i did want to see more from the main villain, as a character. This movie is gonna be in a lot of peoples top lists for 2018, i’m 100% sure it’s gonna be on my top movie list for 2018, and you don’t really want to miss, what i can safely say, is one of the best action movies i’ve ever watched.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again4
Jul 22, 2018
This felt like a disney movie amped up to 11, and this isn't a good thing. The whole "fall in love after just meeting" is so old that even disney doesn't do it anymore. Most characters are shallow and very under-developed. The script feels very childish, if that's the right word for it. Can't tell you how many times i rolled my eyes, at the stupid and corny things said by those characters. The amount of unnecessary sub-plots could have been taken out, cutting the movie to at least 90 minutes, Cher's character and plot line comes to mind. It certainly could have been more straight forward, to make it a better movie. Being a lover of music, i have to admit, some songs are very catchy and good to listen to. The performances are good and convincing, but unfortunately this movie suffers a bit with Meryl Streeps absence, although that point is kind what drives the movie forward. I wasn't expecting too much of this movie, but wasn't expecting it to be a combination of a live action disney movie and a mexican soap opera.

This is a nice movie, about friendship and keeping your inner child after growing up. I really enjoyed some scenes, for a moment, the movie didn't take itself seriously, and it made it for some really enjoyable moments. Until the end, where it gets too serious, there's a HUGE bomb dropped about one of the main characters that comes out of nowhere and then disappears the same way it got. The tag sequences where they are all trying to tag Jerry (Jeremy Renner) are the best scenes there, but there are parts of the dialogue with really unnecessary and just unlaughable jokes. Rebecca (Annabelle Wallis) is just a character who is used for exposition which was really poorly done. In summary, it is a nice movie, that shows how friendships can survive the test of time. How adults should always keep hold of their inner child, even if it's just a small part.

Ocean's 87
Jun 23, 2018
This is a very enjoyable movie. Love it or hate it, you cannot deny the talent in it. Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway and the rest of the cast do a great job, with a very shy script. Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) makes for a likable character, but the rest of the team didn't feel natural to me The chemistry between all of them was great, i guess the big problem i have with this movie is, the lack of stakes, as in, they don't really look like they're scared of what's going to happen if it goes wrong, and the movie doesn't make any attempts to keep you guessing.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom3
Jun 23, 2018
The amazing visuals don't distract anyone on the very poor story and weak script. Every character except for Owen, and maybe Claire are complete disaster, there was nothing i liked about any of them. And even so, Owen gets no development whatsoever, he is completely untouched from start to end of the movie. Claire gets some attention and changes, but nothing to big to make it great. The script was all over the place, decisions from characters that didn't make sense or are stupid. The villains are your basic, cartoonish, mustache twirling villains that are just doing it for the money. The "using dinosaurs as weapons" thing is touched once again, even though it was never a good idea from the start. The movie turns into a horror movie, but instead of a haunted house, or a "monster" there was a dinosaur. With all that being said, the visuals were outstanding. But Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom falls flat on script, character development, poor villain and really didn't have a clear identity as a movie

Solo: A Star Wars Story5
May 25, 2018
This movie is neither good or bad. It takes advantage of the good cast it has with good acting and good dialogue, at times. The relationships make sense, and the chemistry between actors were good. The start of the movie was really slow, they needed a lot of action to try and pace up the story, action that in the start wasn't well crafted. Sometimes the camera work seemed a bit shaky, and the movie lacked real meaningful stakes, the "main villain" was weak as a character. The final act was good, that's the part i enjoyed the most, with everyone doubling crossing everyone, showing the real point of the Han Solo character and where the movie was taking it

A Quiet Place9
May 6, 2018
This is one of the best thrillers i've ever seen, John Krasinski did an amazing job directing this. Not relying on cheap jump scares, but great moments of tension and suspense that keep you on the edge of your seat. Emily Blunt and John Krasinski performances are great giving much needed depth to this characters, and making the tragic moment in the movie really hit me. This is in no doubt one of the best movies i've watched this year

The Commuter5
May 5, 2018
What could have been a great psicological thriller was instead a mediocre action movie with quite generic scenes and acting. The plot had promise, but wasn't used the right way, we could have got to know the characters in the train deeper, or the murder mistery could have been slowly solved during the movie, intead we got an exposition dump from every character we met. The plot twist of him finding the passanger was good, i didn't imagine that, but the twist of who was the killer was very obvious in my opinion. Some of the action was good, but others were unnecessary, in the end this will be another movie that nobody will talk about 1 day after watching

When a gorilla named George has more personality then any other human character, you know something is wrong. This characters have no depth to them, nothing. The acting of some is just atrocious, whenever Malin Akerman and Jake Lacy were on screen i couldn't help but role my eyes. Their attempts on comedy were scary at times, but it was funny at times, special with Dwayne Johnson, Jeffrey Dean Morgan embraced so much the role of Negan in The Walking Dead that the director probably just told him to act like Negan. All that being said, i think the 3rd act was good, i mean, very inconsistent, but i like seeing giant animals destroy stuff, and the scene with George in the end was a bit touching.

Game Night7
May 1, 2018
This is a very funny movie, i had a very good time watching this, it does justice to some characters, something that comedy movies usually forget to do. Very funny script, with of course some lazy jokes written. Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams are great in it, and the supporting cast does really well. It got a bit messy towards the end, they kind of complicated a nice plot with unnecessary twists, but nothing to bad that ruined the movie

Avengers: Infinity War8
Apr 29, 2018
This is a thrilling movie that manages to play with the emotions of every MCU fan out there. It works well in the Cinematic Universe in the sense, but unfortunately as a solo movie it lacks in character, Thanos was the only presence that actually got something as a character, the rest were there too simply fight against him. Mark Rufallo has a great performance along with Robert Downey Junior and Josh Brolin. I have to give the Russo brothers a lot of props with this movie, it would be easy to lose sense of it and not give characters the amount of screen time that they need, but they did it well, even with all of those characters in the movie.

Winchester4
Apr 25, 2018
A very messy and incosistent plot, with information being added during the film that just made it feel like they were just trying to move it along, the movie flowed very forcingly. Relying on jump scares for horror factor was never really a great way to entertain me, if it doesn't have a good story to tell. In the case of this movie it does, but it doesn't tell it well enough to actually make me care for anyone in there.

American Psycho6
Apr 25, 2018
I finally got to see this movie, and... it certainly is nothing of what i was expecting. Although Christian Bale is outstanding playing the psychopathic murderer, the rest of the cast fails to reach the same level. Movie got me hooked through out, but the ending although very ambiguous also very underwhelming and complete shift of what seemed to be reality turned into an extreme dream. I guess Patrick Bateman isn't the murder psycho, but just a psycho searching for recognition somehow. Not a bad movie, but i guess i went into this with very high expectations

Blumhouse's Truth or Dare2
Apr 21, 2018
Even for it's genre it's still terrible. Relies os cheap jump scares, and the script is all over the place, so many inconsistencies with the characters. If you want to make a cheap teen horror flick, you can still make it good. Killing characters for the sake of it, will not make the movie better, maybe try and make know the character that is about to be killed off. This movie doesn't really run away from any cliches what so ever, and it really fails miserably

This is a very poor movie, that had potential.
The movie itself is dry, when you make a reboot, there's a lot of risks of unoriginality, and wow, this movie has fun with it. Because it's very unoriginal, it's also very predictable, situations that normally would be a shocking reveal, suddenly turn into scenes you think you've seen before. The characters are so uninteresting, Lara Croft is alright i guess, but the surrounding characters are so damn uninteresting that it's just harder to watch. Lara Croft is shown in the beginning of the movie as a very smart and athletic person, the athletic part it is very well exploited in the movie, but the smart part only comes out when it's convenient, with her making some small stupid decisions, that make you think;"a person that smart would not have done that". The action is kind of generic, nothing special, nothing bad by any means, some parts are actually good, but most of it it's very generic. I liked the beginning though, it was very fun and interesting. The ending scenes just made it feel like the movie was just a huge expensive set up for the sequel. Which is kind of a shame, because it could have really been a great movie

As far as romantic comedias go, this one is one of the best. Steve Carrel and Ryan Gosling are hilarious together. And it is really funny. The way it all ties together makes for a hilarious and heart breaking scene at the same time, and it makes you feel so sorry for the main character. But the script however was very shallow, and it really made so much cliche moments. But it's a really enjoyable film

It is a nice movie technically, the intensity of the scenes and the performances of the cast are what kept me in the movie until the end. Octavia Spencer and Richard Jenkins were great and Michael Shannon was fantastic. But there one major flaw for me personally that made me enjoy the movie way less... I did not believe in their love, The main character and the humanoid amphibians loved is basically just based in their difficulty in communication, because that what they showed us, so it seems really shallow, so i think that took the magic of what could have been a fantastic movie.

What a motion picture, this is cinema at it's finest, amazing acting, not only by Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell, even Woody Harrelson. Lady Bird7
Jan 13, 2018
It's an interesting story, but going to this i really expected much more. It's not as original as it seems, with Saoirse Ronan just really acting like a teenager, but there are funny moments and good twists that really bring the character together and you see that it helps her grow. Laurie Metcalfe was really outstanding, her performance is so raw and convincing that i saw myself in her shoes started feeling what she was feeling. So although it's a quite good movie, it's really overrated in my opinion

So this is basically the best comedy of 2017, best way to summarise. I'm not even a big fan of romantic comedies but this barrely feels like one, it's honest and different, and super hilarious. The Disaster Artist8
Jan 12, 2018
I mean, this movie hit it right, i haven't watched The Room, but i definitely want to watch it... imagine that, i want to watch the so called "best worst movie ever". James Franco did wonders in this part, and Seth Rogen was fantastic, and leaving the mistery behind Tommy Wiseau is also a great way to end. Of course there are menor issues like the fact that they should have dove more into the start of the Tommy and Greg friendship, because it seems they just become friends out of the blue and in a day he's moving to LA with someone. But i enjoyed myself watching this and made me appreciate James Franco even more

It's quite disappointing how little of the actual foreigner i saw. To be honest i mainly went to this to see Jackie Chan back in action, and see how he would be in a serious movie and for the most part i actually liked it. The the movie got TOO political and ran away from the title, where the movie is about British and northern irish politics with Jackie Chans character stuck in the middle and it was too confusing and disappointing at the end

Thor: Ragnarok8
Nov 11, 2017
Definitely the best Thor movie.
The stakes are actually the highest ever and they don't sabotage the humor to show it, with Thor being the center stage of huge character development and Valkriye stealing the show. The inclusion of Hulk was perfect but i really think that at this point, Loki is pretty much useless, even though i enjoyed his presence.
Hela was a step up for most villains, i mean, she broke Mjolmir with one hand, that already made her into one of the best villains the MCU has had over the years

Spider-Man: Homecoming8
Jul 8, 2017
We finally have a Spider-Man that has a tone of an actual Spider-Man movie. Toby Maguire was a great Peter Parker, but and awful Spider-Man, Andrew Garfield was a awful Peter Parker but a pretty accurate Spider-Man, Tom Holland was amazing at both, with lines of dialogue that really made this movie enjoyable and really show Spider-Man's personality, strength and ability. I had a small issue with the acting of some actors, Flash Thompson was basically there for the sake of being there, but Zendaya as Michelle was hilarious and how they just revealed her character in the end of the movie was fantastic. So i really enjoyed this one, and hope they can keep Spider-Man this good in all the movies

Saban's Power Rangers7
Jul 2, 2017
Interesting
I mean, this rating is mostly due to nostalgia. Because i have to say it has issues. The pacing in the start was all wrong, too rushed in my opinion, think they had to spend more time outlining their growth in friendship, they tried making in one scene talking about it, instead of showing us, so more friendship growth and less training montage. But it was fun to watch, specially the 3rd act. When they finally morphed it was like a was 8 years old again. I really enjoyed their fights and the costume design.

Wonder Woman9
Jun 4, 2017
Brilliant! Visuals and special effects were amazing, the fight scenes, when not in unnecessary slow motion, were brilliant and so well choreographed. It showed the best out of wonder woman. The 3rd act was also really intense, although if they hadn't said who the actor playing Ares was, the reveal would have been way cooler.
