Halloween is a love letter to the original picture and entertaining on its own terms. Thrilling, atmospheric, and brutally violent, Green delivers exactly what fans want from the series and then some.

No one-dimensional, stone-cold badass here—this version of Laurie Strode is among the most nuanced horror heroines presented onscreen over the last handful of years.

best Halloween reboot, best Halloween since 1978. If you're a fan you'll love this

In my opinion, Halloween (2018) is a worthy prequel to the part from 1978. Some things the movie does even better, for example the atmosphere in the movie is much darker than in the original movie. I also think the mask is just great, and the character development of lori can be followed up only at the end have the characters made decisions that contradict the characters built in the movie.

Unlike with the series' other sequels, this one finally feels like it was worth the wait.

The Halloween of today is slick and sick, but little is left of that sleep-destroying dread. Still, not all is lost, because the Bogeyman, bless him, has not forgotten his manners. For old times’ sake, he gets to sit up straight.

You wouldn’t call it profoundly scary – the one thing a wiped-clean slate can’t do is instantly defamiliarise us with every iteration of the monster that’s come since Carpenter. But it’s robustly suspenseful and shot with loving care.

For all of the film’s attempts to get back to the sinisterly sidling Michael of the first Halloween, his stealth movements no longer terrify because his fixations are less unthinkingly instinctual, more compulsively mortal.

Halloween 2018: Probably one of the best horror movies of the modern generation. What can I say this brings the 1970s original into the mainstream modern day. Jamie Lee Curtis gives a terrifying performance you can tell she has so much ptsd from the original movie that she even trained her daughter to be a hunter and it’s shown at the end. That’s not to mention all the other actors like Judy Greer and Andi Matichak are fantastic final girls there not dumb girls who just wait to get killed but since Laurie trained her daughter she can put up her own in the little time it’s shown. Also the big man, for a 60 year old Michael Myers, James Jude Courtney gives a performance just like Nick Castle did in the original. What also makes this movie one of my favorites are the kills along with the music composted by John Carpenter and his son and Daniel Davies my favorite is when Allison is finally meets Michael for the first time it’s so awesome. Now those sweet kills are gorey some off screen kills which are still really good like one guys jaw getting broken all to hell and having his teeth pulled out, my favorite is when Michael stomps on a dudes head and it turns to mush great practical effects. Overall this is one of the best modern horror movies of all time with fantastic performances, amazing music and fantastic gore it’s a horror movie modern classic in my eyes. Ranking masterpiece

Time to bury the franchise. The original from 1978 was a milestone. I personally like the sequel from 1981 even better and every Halloween I'll watch them back to back. That's all the Halloween you'll ever need. The sequels from the 80s, 90s, the Rob Zombie remake/sequels got worse with each new installment.
Then they had a "brilliant" idea: a sequel that ignores all sequels which also is the beginning of a trilogy! Hollywood doesn't even try to hide the fact anymore that it is creatively bankrupt.
Halloween 2018 brings back JLC as Laurie Strode but does nothing different from Halloween II - 8, Halloween 2007 & Halloween 2 (2009). If you've seen any of those, you've seen Halloween 2018.
Bury it already. Let Michael rest. Forever.

Lame Sarah Connor imitation. Having loved and worshipped the original Halloween then rewatching it 40 years later with an avid following of fans at the cinema I realised the many faults the film has. The excellent concept, filming and music are let down by goofy moments and outdated pacing. It's still iconic but flawed. The new Halloween is nothing but flawed. I feel like I'm watching a really dated film that is trying to be ironic but comes across sarcastic and tiresome. The scares are lacking, the characters unconvincing, the development dull and so on. I could not be more disappointed. Halloween: H20 (1998) was better, at least it got the Halloween vibe and was entertaining. The only decent recent remake was It (2017), that was phenomenal and I didn't get my phone out once watching that. The music and filming are the only positives of the new Halloween. Maybe it'll go full circle and I might enjoy it in 40 years.
