Blumhouse's Truth or Dare

Truth or Dare is likely to invite comparisons to a lot of other films. It takes a few cues here and there from Saw, It Follows, and Final Destination, but mostly manages to coast on an engaging cast and a story whose built-in anticipation keeps you in your seat (when you’re not jumping out of it).

A genre movie that's at war with itself.

The truth is, it’s not very good – and entirely without scares. But we dare you to watch it without unleashing a few unintended laughs along the way.

The internal logic of the movie is complex, confusing, and as a result the movie is not very much fun.

Unfortunately, the good stuff comes not only too late, but is more or less undone by a head-scratcher of an ending.

The ugly truth here would be to tell you to just skip the film, and the dare is to actually pay money to see it.

Truth or Dare commits the cardinal sin of a film with such a stupid premise; it tries to explain the spiritual source of the game.

Did you like the movie It Follows? Then you'll like this one. Same basic concept as It Follows just the game Truth or Dare instead of sex. Seriously, people loved It Follows yet are hating on this movie. Why? It's entertaining for a movie done on 3.5 million dollars. Totally worth seeing. Don't listen to the haters.

Ich habe diesen Film irgendwann im Jahr 2019 gesehen, vielleicht auch 2020 oder sogar schon 2018, und zwar damals auf Russisch. Da ich mich mittlerweile intensiv mit der deutschen Sprache beschäftige, habe ich beschlossen, mir den Film noch einmal anzusehen. Insgesamt kann ich sagen, dass mir der Film durchaus gefällt. Er ist sehenswert und man kann seine Zeit damit verbringen. Allerdings würde ich nicht behaupten, dass es ein außergewöhnlich guter Film ist. Die Schauspieler sind zwar gut, aber im Großen und Ganzen würde ich ihm etwa 6 von 10 Punkten geben.

A somewhat entertaining story with little thriller and horror. The movie had a couple of interesting twists, however, that's about it. The movie is quite moderate.

An interesting concept, that made for a thrilling movie. But the ending was very disappointing. It could have been a lot better.

this film does not put tension, in fact it is very, very funny. it is truly first of all logical sense, the protagonists are hopelessly stupid and their ability to make the wrong choices throughout the film is iconic. the deaths are meaningless and have no depth: the protagonists never stop to mourn their dead friends but prefer to argue over their stupid secrets. the actions are unmotivated and have made me absolutely perplexed and confused for the duration of this "masterpiece". recommended for those who have time to waste and want to have a laugh. 3/10 and I've been nice
