This is an amazing game. People playing a game for 180 hours and giving it a 7 is hysterical to me LOL. It's intensely deep, far too much to see in one play through (enough spells to scroll through many pages, seemingly endless weapons, armor, etc). I'll never use even a quarter of them. Wonderful writing, great characters, choices matter, etc, etc. This is an epic game that deserves far more love than it is getting. You command your own party through the story, AND you also command armies on a larger board to fight enemy armies. SUPER fun.

Absolute gem ****. It's a shame there aren't more people experiencing it. From the voice acting to the story to the gameplay. Fantastic. Shrugs. Maybe it's because I started playing it after the patches, but it runs beautifully on my machine, and is a genuinely fun game. Excellent graphics, sound, story, gun play, etc... And I love the little aspects like having to charge your electricity pack once in a while with a few hand pumps, etc... Great game, most of the low scores are from people with technical issues or those that really hate the Epic store. But the game itself is actually very fun. I'm having a blast, at least.

This game is FAR better than the current 6.2 user score due to performance issues I'm just not seeing. Click on the people leaving 0 scores. They are almost all one-offs by anonymous people just to vote 0 on this game alone. The combat is great and gets more complex as you play (turn based in small grids). Otherwise it's a 1st person RPG with loot, armor, weapons, magic, collecting, recipes, equipping your gained party members with what you want depending on how you progress the characters through advancement selections, etc... I'm 15 hours in and have experience a single crash, but otherwise am having a lot of fun, which is the real test. It's a wonderful game that is definitely worth the $35 for this long time gamer. I played the original games but it's been so long I have no idea what they were like. People complaining that it's not the same as those games is beyond silly. On it's own, it's a very good game, good story, side quests, etc..

Wreckfest9
Jul 23, 2018
This is my favorite "want to play a fun game for 30-45 minutes" game of the last several years. Online multiplayer is a mixture of frustration and perma-smile fun. It's hard to keep an eye on the track sometimes because I'm fighting tears of laughter. The damage physics are great and the races are approachable. There are a few dozen cars, each with performance AND appearance modifications to spend your earned in-game "cash" on. You can also tune your cars before each race depending on the course type (percentage of dirt vs tarmac, how many straightaways, it could be an short/long oval track on dirt/tarmac, etc...) Super fun game. My only frustrations are that that I didn't want the "career"' to end (too much fun) and I believe they can add so much more to this game. Definitely a genre that has been void and Wreckfest crushes it. Figure 8 race in a station wagon with a modded engine and metal door plating? School bus? Lawn mower? Harvester? Double decker cars? Want a straight up demolition derby in a grass field? A street course filled with hills and turns? Yep.

Some of the bad reviews here are amazingly vapid. This is a better version of the first game in nearly all aspects. I'm 50 hours in (the end is nowhere in sight) and am having a blast... which is all that counts. I have a high end PC (7700k, 1080, 1440p display) and I get a constant 120 FPS and have yet to experience a game/quest ending bug. I've had two crashes, both had autosaves that were only a minute or two behind where I was. It's a great game with many mechanics (even ship upkeep/sailing/cannon fighting... down to what sort of food you give to your crew and how it affects their moral...) in a world with almost too much to do/explore. Almost all of it voice acted (which is amazing). Definitely and highly recommended for anyone into classic RPGs.

There are currently two reviews from "different" people with the same exact review text (Gave it a 10). Most of the low scores are from new people that have only voted on this game with very similar complaints. This is why I don't usually take the user review scores very seriously. If you like turned based strategy games, this is a very fun game. I just wanted to give it my honest score and leave, but I had to post when I saw how terrible some of the other user reviews were. LOL, the two current 1 scores are from the "same" person. Joined on the same day, only one post, and they say almost exactly the same thing (complaining about no Steam release). This is why Metracritic user scores stink. CLEAR spamming. All the time. BUT, this is the same game, clearly, but with better/smoother visuals. Challenging, vast, beautifully scripted and voice acted, exceptional artwork... The very few annoyance I had were patched within days, which was incredible. Having a responsive developer is more important than some may realize. The choices that can be made regarding your party and how you engage/perform battles is nearly limitless. As many others have mentioned, you seem slightly off kilter at first. There is just a lot to take in... You may wander into battles you are not ready for, you may not have seen those vines to climb up the first 3 times you scanned the area, but stick with it. It is incredibly rewarding once the mechanics become second nature to you. Great game all around.

LOL, 99% of the low scores here are from people that have one review... and it's for this game. The complaints are filled with rhetorical nonsense for the most part as well. It's as if they were all written by the same person and after only playing for a few hours. Ah well. I'm a little over 22 hours in and I am having a blast. I have no idea what people are talking about. The facial expressions (especially the eyes) are a little wonky, certainly, but the story / gameplay is super fun. It DOES take a bit of time to get to the main gist of the game, how all the components work, etc... (there is a LOT in this game, something we can all agree on). It's a big game... Outside of some odd facial expressions and body movements during dialogue (eye roll), this game is flipping BEAUTIFUL. One of the best looking games I've ever played (saying a lot). Just amazingly gorgeous. The voice acting is superb, even if some of the writing sounded like it came from a 12 year old. While some here are talking about that, I've only noticed one or two things that made me stop and say "gah, they could have written something less cringeworthy there." To suggest ALL of the writing is bad would be dishonest beyond belief. I think most of the criticisms here stem from this game not being the most perfectest Witcher 3 killer bestgameever right at launch, and only because expectations were so high for a beloved series. But I'm telling you... this game is massive, fun, gorgeous and is most definitely a very good game.

I've only started playing it a few days ago, after the latest large patch. If there were bugs, etc... on first release, they definitely do not seem to be there now. I've played 62 hours, no crashes, lags, etc... Runs great. *shrugs* It's an immense, extremely fun, complex but playable classic space RTS. Gaining resources, researching tech, building/designing ships and destroying others. Throw in exploration, surveying planets, etc... It is amazing this game isn't more popular than it is... And some of these bad reviews are so wrong, and I mean flat out untrue, that I either question whether they have actually played the game, or if the first two large updates were just that drastic (never played it when it came out a few months ago). On my second play-through, still having a blast, worth every penny IMO.

An incredibly fun game, great story, interesting characters and it screams Baldur's Gate 3 2015. I will let dorklies discuss how it deserves a zero because they feel the need to change each character's choices every second. (Your companions obviously DO come with AI, no one is actually changing what each of their companions is doing each blow... that would be insane). People can talk about kickstarter games and not enough "studio" to produce a AAA monoliths with every bell and whistle, but as far as having fun... the literal point, games like PoE grab you by the heart and do not let go. For newcomers to this sort of game... Take it slow, save OFTEN. Relax! Look at some of the reasons for the 0 and 1 scores. Hilariously childish. This game is amazing. A solid 9 without pause. The graphics (at least on the PS4 to a 50" Plasma) are stunning, gameplay is fluid, fighting is however you want it (smash-mouth, or stop and plan every move), the voice acting is superb (stick with the English male, however) and RPG elements are everywhere. Some of the reviews on here are simply bizarre. Either played before final release, or reviewed only after a few hours... I can only assume. As someone who actually played Wasteland on an Apple IIc in the late 80's, and as a fan of the genre in general, this is a fantastic game. Turn based tactical combat scenarios, dozens of interesting quests and story lines. I have no idea how may more weapons I'm going to find, and I'm definitely going to want to play again with different skill sets, just for fun. Great game. Some of the excuses for low ratings here either had nothing to do with game play, and some almost sound as if they are playing a different game or only played for a few hours? Just, weird...

I might not be aware of earlier issues that may have warranted the lower score (so many complaining about bugs). However, I just bought this last week and am having a blast. It says it's at version 1.5.x, so there seems to have been quite a few updates. *shrugs* Very fun, lot's of stuff to explore. It's a familiar game (a good thing) that allows you to play the bad guy for once. It also runs very, very well on my 4 year old machine driving a 27" screen. It says I've played 112 hours... and if I calculate in my head that may be about right, but it has seemed like 40 through sheer fun, and I have no idea how much of the main story is left. The game helps as little as possible without being frustrating, which is an incredibly hard thing to pull off. It makes you feel like an adventurer again... instead of a button smasher. Broken Age: Act 18
Feb 26, 2014
Is incredibly short. I finished it in one night, and got to bed early... I definitely do not feel I got $30 worth of game, YET. I am hoping the "free add on" of Act 2 "later this year" will make me feel better about this purchase. With that said, and understanding this is a story (well... two stories) being played out in game/puzzle form, this was a wonderful start. The writing, the voice acting, the visual style, the musical score for nearly all actions are just plain fun. I was like a little kid again (the story, of course, helped with this immersion). As a 40 something with kids of his own, that has been playing video games since Space Invaders, I do not regret this buy in the least. Even with how short it was, I still feel its lasting effects, and cannot wait for Act 2. Super fun.

To every other person that has either never played this game, or it has been over a decade (Hi!), the $25 is definitely worth it. I had forgotten how satisfying this game is. So, much, fun... The responses by die hard fanatics of the original game seem meaningless to me. If you have been playing BGII for 10 years straight, modded up to your eyeballs, then I would certainly suspect that $25 may not span the difference between what you have, and what is offered. *shrugs* However, speaking to the "norms" out there, this game is absolutely highly recommended. I am on mission 20 of 27, and am having a blast. The complaints about the story here are inconceivable. I am finding it intriguing and well done, especially for an RTS at heart. The progression of the campaign feels very fluid as it adds choices and new species to play with. Choices that can be changed at any time. Seems there are quite a few bad reviews complaining about things they wish it was, instead of actually reviewing the game as it is. A shame. This is a very, very well done expansion. I am a gaming hobbyist from the early 80's, record dozens of hours a week to this day, and write very few reviews. However, I felt a need here. I just purchased this game a few weeks ago, so I may not have experienced the issues recorded in much earlier reviews, but this is a good game. It really is. I recently finished re-playing Silent Storm 2 and 3, so this game felt very, very familiar.... Throw in arming civilians in towns you have liberated, usually with the guns and armor you find on bad guys, a need to help protect these areas from warnings of incoming hostiles, and better graphics. There are a few frustrating bits that become much less of an annoyance after playing several hours. Using the camera view becomes more fluid with use, for example. I also see complaints here about things that they obviously fixed (assuming the original reviewer was accurate to begin with), like how you can check "fog of war" before starting a new game if you want. I am about 20-30 hours into the game and am having a good time, which is the best review a game can receive, IMO. I've been a video game hobbyist since the early 80's, and still play dozens of hours a week. I rarely submit reviews, but a 5.4 user score is not in line with the current version that I am playing.

For the newly initiated, you can add 4 points to the User Review score due to people posting 0's because they do not like DRM. For those with internet connections (ahem), this really is a great game. I'm currently a level 25 (Barbarian), 500 achievement points, have been completing everything, grabbing all loot, etc... (taking my time) and am having a BLAST. The story is well done and the voice acting is top notch. Sound in general are nearly perfect. The auction house (just started using it) is great, just used my gold from the game (I would never use real money to buy virtual things, sorry Blizzard) to pick up some freaking awesome armor and two axes. Throw in randomly generated maps, and characters that are wildly different means I will be playing this at least one more time (whenever I finish the Barbarian, that is, already about 30 hours in, probably half way through?). Super fun game. Sorry to the folks with bad internet connections. That does ****, and feel for you (I do not like this DRM type either), but when used in the environment Blizzard forces you to use it in, it is a kick butt game.

I cannot tell you how many times I cursed this game, threw my paddle and swore I would never boot it again. The most intriguing portion of this game is the player creation that starts your career as a young, mediocre player... and it is very hard, and frustrating... at first. However, I kept picking up the paddle, kept putting in the game. Something about it kept me wanting. Then, something changed. I played through some of the new Training sessions, ran through some scrimmages, and kept plugging away and spending my ability points. I finally got it. I was scoring 25 points a game (5 min quarters) hitting my goals, etc... We did not win much as the rest of my team was horrifyingly bad (Jazz), but grew through the ranks, was traded, and am now having a blast working towards a Championship and eventually Hall of Fame. I can now say this is a very, very good game. The work definitely pays off, IMO. Keep trying. This is not an arcade game, it is an NBA game. The complexity makes it far more enjoyable than any "blast and dunk" game, it merely takes a little work to find the gem this is.

I played this as KOTOR III, and absolutely loved it. I did not to one group quest, never spoke to another "live" person the entire time, and no one spoke to me. If you play this as a pure RPG (which is what it should have been to begin with, without the money grabbing MMO "add-on" it seems like here), and finish within 30 days, it is fantastic. Buy it. If you are looking for a WoW equivalent, move on. If you are willing to accept the differences and allow them merit, or are a Star Wars fan, also buy it. It is worth the $60 for 30 days, as much as that pains me to say. It is just that good. In fact one of the only detractors to the game would be the MMO element. They should have stuck with making it a Bioware/Star Wars version of Skyrim, which it is very close to right now anyway.
