An essential purchase if you want to get into KH. I enjoyed every playable game (yes even Chain of memories). I think just a couple changes to the collection may make it a 10 (either one more playable game, or an option to watch cutscenes for CoM.) Overall if you had to play only one KH game, it should be this one.
Marvel Rivals is not just a hero shooter with a good brand, it's a game that differentiates itself from others in the genre while taking some of the best aspects from the competition. It's not afraid to get creative with the roster like Paladins and has the polish of Overwatch. Destructible maps, wall-crawling, team-ups, and more ways that introduce new layers to the core system. Not to mention it has an absolutely gorgeous style. And as far as balance goes, they're really leaning into the power fantasy, you know what they say, when everyone is super, no one is. So the balance essentially works itself out. Another interesting thing is how most characters have self-sustain, like in Paladins. This means that characters are less team reliant, and leads to more enjoyment by more people.
Negatives first, story is a little muddled mainly in the last act, kinda buggy on release, and it's a little short for my taste. That is all, everything else is fantastic. Combat is easy to learn yet hard to master, traversal is THE best of any game I've ever played ever. Story is filled with tons of awesome beats and moments. The updates after pushed it up even further.
The core experience is good. There's definitely some issues or problems that need ironing, but overall as someone who doesn't typically like fast paced shooters this one has enough options so that I can enjoy. I like how there are tons of ways to play, and a ton of ways to counter ways to play.
This game has NO BUISNESS being so good. It's a good platformer unironically, (not that hard ofc), shows of the tech's potential in a lot of interesting ways, and is a love letter to Sony's legacy. Not to mention free of additional charge.
With the most recent update (weekend) there's a really nice experience. Especially with the remixes which are actually really difficult. Also doesn't hurt that the songs are a banger.
The remaster doesn't do quite enough to justify the 10 dollar increase. But it has all the merits of the first games still and there is some differences so it's not all bad. Definitely worth it if you don't have the dlc.
Combat is challenging, strategical, yet rewarding and satisfying. The story may have a mild case of McGuffin-itous but it's barely noticeable when buried under the masterfully crafted cast of characters. The story manages to be for long time fans and new-comers.
I'm writing this review with the product you would get now if you downloaded it online. Not the version on the base disc. After all the updates this is one of the best multiplayer star wars games. The graphics are modern, not the best but modern, the gameplay all around is fine, except the space ships they could be better. Campaign is neat, not great but neat.
I personally really enjoyed the game and have replayed it several times, but in my replays I encounter new shortcomings. There's definitely fun to be had, though some of it is on the player to be creative rather than the map itself. Combat can be fun, though there is far too much cheese.
The same master piece from before, but with updated visuals, framerate, and audio. Along with probably the best haptic feedback and adaptive trigger implementation that I've experienced. The only scenario I wouldn't recommend would be if you already played both games. Yet even than I have and I still feel like it was worth the upgrade charge.
Not as good as the first, but not by a lot. The downgrade in story is overshadowed by many gameplay improvements like swinging, combat, and it's use of the ps5's features which are on the better side. Especially with the inclusion of performance RT mode. This only leaves the game .2 rating worse, so still 9/10.
Combat is in-depth for a sonic game, though it can be cheesed in the late game. The open zone format is a wonderful starting idea with even more potential. And the cyber stages should hold over anyone who prefers more classic Sonic. And the free DLC really adds on to an already good experience.
It took me a whole playthrough to finally get the hang of the bat-mobile, and on reconsideration it's not so much bad as it is boring. 8.5/10. (which does round up)
The combat doesn't demand much and it falls on the player to find interesting and creative new strategies. The main story is solid, co-op is at worst mediocre and at best feels like a movie. However, the games as a service model it has does not work, for any new interesting content put out is just a loss for the company. There is certainly fun to be had but after that there's no reason to keep playing. The Playstation 5 upgrades are actually really well implemented and gives it the little push it needed to be a seven instead of a six.
One of my personal favorite's, unfortunately in my hundreds of hours I came to see the game's shortcomings. Personally I'd rate a 9 but more objectively it's lower.
Dang near perfect game. Unfortunately one too many things drag it down from a ten, them being the narrative and how uncreative optimal combat is. Everything else is immaculate.
Almost the perfect fighting game, fantastic competitive experience, easy controls that attempt to remedy the 'if you're not a sf player you're not an sf player,' and good single player experiences. The world tour mode may not be what many wanted, but it still has an arcade mode at least. The good outweighs the bad if we're looking at only the base game, so no microtransactions, then it sits at a 9.5/10(it rounds up).
This game is a near perfect sequel that expounds on everything there is to love about the previous. The combination of nitpicks and performance problems (though they are way better now, only several problems on ps5) keep the game from the perfect 10/10 score.
The original remake was just barely a 9.4/10, but the ps5 upgrades give it that little bit of boost that it needed, especially in the deluxe edition. The game has fantastic atmosphere, great gunplay for a survival horror game, story is still solid, and enough action and ridiculousness for newer fans. Scary, but not too scary.
There is certainly fun to be had in the game. But just a little too much of that falls on the player to extract. The characters are good, story is fine enough, stealth is honestly okay (especially on Robin) and combat feels smooth too little of the time, and also a tad unbalanced.
The few negatives that I can think DO NOT drag the game down enough to warrant a lower score. While I think the game is a 9.5, that still rounds up to 10. While the opening is slow that's on purpose to get the player to feel just like Nate 'Stop it with the boring stuff and get back to the adventure'. Combine that with some of the best set pieces (gameplay wise), some of the best characters (despite uncharted already having great characters), and mechanics that have had years to be refined. That wizardly concoction gets a 10/10.
