Spider-Man: Brand New Day understands both Spider-Man and Peter Parker, just as Superman (2025) understood both the hero and the hope that defines Superman. It reminds me of how Bill described these characters in Kill Bill: “Spider-Man is actually Peter Parker. When that character wakes up in the morning, he’s Peter Parker. He has to put on a costume to become Spider-Man.” “What Kent wears - the glasses, the business suit - that’s the costume. That’s the costume Superman wears to blend in with us.” That’s exactly what Spider-Man: Brand New Day understands. Peter Parker comes first. Before he puts on the mask, he’s a young man carrying the weight of loss, loneliness, responsibility, and all the everyday struggles of ordinary life. That’s what has always sat at the heart of my love for Spider-Man. Spider-Man: Brand New Day made me laugh, broke my heart, and filled me with joy and childlike wonder all over again. As a little boy, for many years I loved Batman, Spider-Man and Superman… in that order. So Spidey will always have a special place in my heart, and I left the cinema feeling like I’d stepped back into the 70s and 80s. The film captures the spirit of those early Spider-Man comics beautifully. Wow… that opening montage of our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man put the biggest smile on my face. I also love The Punisher. Frank Castle ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to my sense of justice, and I’ve always appreciated that he’s willing to go further with criminals and the corrupt than most heroes would. For the most part, Frank works extremely well in this film, and Jon Bernthal manages to bring the character from R-rated territory into PG-13 territory without losing what makes Frank, Frank. The movie looks stunning, with cinematography and visual effects that are top-tier. The web-swinging is absolutely breathtaking, and Michael Giacchino’s score beautifully complements the film’s slightly more mature tone. Tom Holland and Zendaya are superb throughout, and their real-life chemistry naturally shines through in their performances. To say much more would spoil the experience. For me, this is a 9/10, damn good time at the movies with our beloved Web-Head. My Spidey sense was tingling throughout. More than anything, Spider-Man: Brand New Day remembers that beneath the mask is Peter Parker, and that’s exactly why it works so well. Last year, Superman (2025) reminded me why I fell in love with the Man of Steel. This year, Spider-Man: Brand New Day reminded me why Peter Parker has always had a place in my heart. As that little boy who grew up loving Batman, Spider-Man and Superman, it’s been a joy to spend these past two years seeing my childhood heroes leap from the pages of comic books and onto the big screen once again. And somehow, all these years later, I’m getting to experience them again in reverse. Superman brought back the hope. Spider-Man brought back the heart. Batman will bring back the resolve. Next it’s time for The Dark Knight Detective… the comic book hero who first captured that little boy’s imagination. A man who turned his deepest scars into an unbreakable resolve - giving him the power to endure, the strength to fight, and the will to protect the innocent. Bring on The Batman Part II.

There's just NO WAY Black Adam is a 40%, 4/10 (at time of writing) movie, as aggregated on ****, following the critics reviews. This simply demonstrates once again, just how much most critics are out of touch with what audiences are actually looking for in a movie. I’m so happy to see that the audience score of 89% (at time of writing), mirrors the experience that I had at the cinema. My family and I are just back from an IMAX screening of Black Adam and our scores are 7/10 wife, 7/10 son, 9/10 daughter and 9/10 me. How biased are the majority of critics nowadays and what’s their actual motivation for scores as low as zero? Are they reviewing a form of media ENTERTAINMENT or trying to project their political agendas onto the masses? Anyway, back to the movie… Awesome cinematography, incredible action sequences, fantastic performances by all, a tremendous score, spellbinding visual effects and a SUPER mid credits scene. Thank you Dwayne Johnson, Warner Bros.Discovery, New Line Cinema and Seven Bucks Productions for a great, FUN time at the movies. Yes, FUN time at the movies, something the majority of critics seem to have forgotten about. It’s a solid 9/10 IMO, so please ignore the critics and go see Black Adam on the biggest, loudest screen possible… you won’t regret it.

Critics and Marvel Trolls, chill; DC and Movie Fans everywhere, have fun with your Squad! Once again the critics have proved themselves to be out of touch and irrelevant as last night I watched one of the most fun movies in an age at the cinema and literally left the theatre grinning from ear to ear. I'm not a film critic but I believe I know movies and after trawling through some of the worst (written) reviews that I've ever read, I'm definitely ****. Late twenties Rotten Tomatoes score??? Not even anywhere close to representing the film I experienced. Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto et al, absolutely nailed it and David Ayer's recent twitter post played out for me throughout the entire film... Zapata quote is my way of saying I love the movie and believe in it. Made it for the fans. Best experience of my life. ️ The soundtrack and original score are also both fantastic and the mid credits stinger is just the icing on the cake. If you love Comic Books (I'm a Marvel Fan too

Josstice League, Joss Whedon's total hack job of Zack Snyder's beautiful piece of cinematic art should be avoided at all costs. Watch Zack Snyder's Justice League instead!

Holy smokes, JOKER is truly EPIC, I left the cinema with the biggest grin on my face and my mind blown. As a lifelong DC comics fan, this was a perfect movie and the only way this story could have been told. Awesome leading performance, awesome cinematography, awesome soundtrack, unbelievably awesome final act. As for all the critics who're contributing to the media frenzy about the movie promoting violence; I believe you'll find that life is still worthwhile, if you just smile. This is a must see film, period!

I'd been waiting for Zack Snyder's Justice League, ever since I left the movie theatre on opening night of Josstice League, back in Nov 2017. Who at WB thought it was a good idea to ditch this beautiful piece of art for Joss Whedon's hack job? Thank you Zack and Deborah Snyder for this truly mind blowing cinematic experience. So hard to review this film as it goes beyond words!... Oh and Tom Holkenborg's score is just absolutely incredible!

And I thought Eternals was bad! Just when I reckoned Marvel movies couldn't get any worse, along came Thor: Love and Thunder. Wow, this Marvel phase of films has really ****... please avoid this garbage at all costs! How do you make Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Russell Crowe, Tessa Thompson and others look really bad on the silver screen? Simple, just employ Taika Waititi to direct another Thor movie. He really must have lucked out on Thor: Ragnarok, as this time around, his direction gives us a movie that falls flat from the opening scene and then manages to just about limp along, right till the very end, embarrassing all involved along the way. As the credits rolled, my wife asked "did a five year old write this one?" I understood where she was coming from, but I believe five year olds have far superior imaginations to the creative team involved here. Bottom line, Thor: L&T is just a really bad movie, period! As the curtains close, it states, "Thor will return"... let's hope if that's the case, that Marvel has the good sense next time to go with another director. George Clooney, finally I can forgive you for Batman and Robin.

Embarrassingly bad with an appalling script, bland acting, dull editing, cardboard characters and a weak, whimpering, whispering score. Avoid at all costs... We stopped watching it at the 2hr mark, as we realised there was still another 37 mins of this garbage to go and we just simply couldn't take it anymore. The only emotion experienced throughout the movie was utter boredom. Nothing marvelous from Marvel here! ****!

Breathtaking is a word that describes Dune: Part One perfectly well. It's just a breathtaking, beautiful movie from start to finish. Incredible screenplay, cast, cinematography, production design, VFX, stunts, costumes, sound, direction and score. Once again Hans Zimmer has created an immersive soundtrack that **** you into the mesmerising world of Dune... it's the perfect accompaniment to Denis Villeneuve's masterfully created motion picture. The final "This is only the beginning" scene will have you leave the cinema full of awe and wonder, completely satisfied and wanting for a sequel. Days later and I'm still reflecting on the marvel that is Dune: Part One. Desert Power indeed!

“It’s about what you believe. And I believe in love. Only love will truly save the world”... Diana’s words from the 2017 comic book blockbuster Wonder Woman connect to WW84 so well. In a beautiful sequel to 2017’s DC classic, Gal Gadot truly is Wonder Woman. This is a relevant comic book sequel that’s full of heart, emotion, action and fun. Fabulous cast, incredible Hans Zimmer score and some truly magical, memorable moments. WW84 dares to be different, as DC comic book films so often do... and it absolutely works.

Against all odds, JJ absolutely nailed this movie! I was mesmerised back in 77 as a 5 year old kid during episode 4 and again tonight watching episode 9, I was totally captivated, ending the Skywalker saga on a massive high. How our Princess was handled was absolutely perfect, the movie looked incredible, the cast were all amazing and John Williams score, as always, was consistently awesome. I left the theatre this evening with a tear in my eye and a huge grin on my face. My 13 year old daughter scored the film 10/10, my 18 year old son 8.5/10, my wife 9/10 and for me it was a perfect 5 star experience. I'm going back to see it again tomorrow, to once again take in that stunningly beautiful final Star Wars shot, in all it's emotional glory. Star Wars has been a massive part of my life and tonight the saga ended with me feeling full of wonder, awe and absolute total satisfaction; thanks JJ. Once again the majority of movie critics have demonstrated their irrelevance!

Absolutely loved this movie. Everyone left the theatre smiling which is surely what entertainment is all about. A fantastic adrenaline rush of a film and fitting end (?) to the franchise. Don't listen to the critics, listen to the audience. Go Sly, 73 years old and still kicking ass ️️️️️

Please see a direct quote below from one of the critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Rob Hunter... "I'm going to admit something right up front and acknowledge that I, like most film critics, am on Walt Disney/Marvel's payroll" That quote certainly helps to explain the mauling that this very solid movie has unfairly received from the critics. Don't believe the negative reviews, go and see this great movie made by a comic book fan for comic book fans; You won't be disappointed. Ben Affleck is ferocious as The Dark Knight, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman is a scene stealer (when she finally arrives) and Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL's film score is worth the price of admission alone. Thanks Zack Snyder and Warner Bros for daring to be different.
