Only a true fool would support this game. This practice of gouging money is absolutely ridiculous. Individuals are now dropping in giving the game a 10/10 saying "No microtransactions"...seriously? You DO realize that's a temporary removal right? Temporary...look it up sometime. Don't be fooled, this is trash.

Bloodborne is an exhausting journey. It is vague, and often times confusing. It will challenge and frustrate gamers. What makes Bloodborne so amazing, is that it pushes gamers to become better and to learn. It is a game that forces you to think, rather then mindlessly bash buttons. To that extent alone, it would be impossible to give Bloodborne anything less then a stellar rating. I would not easily recommend this game to my friends or casual gamers. You REALLY have to have the right kind of patience and persistence to truly enjoy it. You have to be willing to die, a lot. You have to be wiling to replay various areas, and kill the same enemies over and over again. IF you can understand how this game works, then you will eventually get better and you will find it enjoyable. Pay no attention to the individuals saying 'get gud or go home', ANYONE CAN PLAY THIS GAME - it's simply a matter of if you have the capacity to learn and adapt. Personally, I have a lot of respect for this game. I'm annoyed by it, but I absolutely love the challenge. This isn't exactly the freelance game that's going to sell consoles (or at least, it shouldn't be), however there is a lot of great content here to satisfy the right audiences. Embrace the world of Bloodborne, and push yourself to rise above the challenge.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2

At $25 there's a lot of good things to say about Revelations 2, however the overall quality of the finished product is far from pristine, and in terms of creativity and originality Revelations 2 falls well short of the marker. Unfortunately, Rev 2 literally pulls every last strand of it's campaign from ideas implemented in previous RE installments. Long gone is the Queen Zenobia and Terragrigia, as now we are immersed into a new scenario with familiar characters and sadly familiar circumstances. Honestly, the story itself is not all that bad, and most fans of the series will enjoy it's few twists and turns, but I have to reiterate that NOTHING about this title feels 'new' or original. To it's credit, the game does feature tight third person shooter gunplay, and while the graphics certainly look dated, the variety of enemies and scenarios will likely keep you happily occupied. Raid mode is the stellar selling point for this entry, although I'm not a fan of the new microtransactions that are now being thrown into the users face. They can be avoided....however the fact that Capcom even feels the need to implement them really feels like cheap way to take advantage of the fanbase. All in all, this really isn't a bad entry to a floundering franchise, but it just doesn't bring enough quality and content to the table to merit an above average rating. If you are looking for some fun third person shooter action though, this may not be a bad time sink for $25.

Dying Light

Dying Light succeeds at many of the goals that it sets out for, yet falls shy of a few. Techland took many of the elements of it's previous zombie title Dead Island and spiced things up a bit by implementing a few new features and game elements. Dying Light is generally a darker, more serious game then the former title, however the main antagonist Kyle Crane has some of the most bland and generic dialogue moments I've ever heard in a game. I'm not a big fan of Crane at all - he's about as generic of an American antagonist as can be, and most of his dialogue is just cheesy. That being said, the game's main story is engaging, and there are many side quests to do to keep you on your toes as well. I'm a fan of the new parkour elements implemented throughout the game - they seem to add an even greater element of tension and exploration. The soundtrack from this game is also very unique, and almost serves as a 70's/80's horror film throwback. The game can be a bit buggy however; the key things I have noticed is that the parkour elements can be somewhat unreliable at times, and when moving through the open world at a fast pace there seems to be some frame dropping occasionally. The durability and stamina systems would be more fair individually, however when put together they can make combat very frustrating early on. Fortunately, you level up fairly quickly by gaining experience for doing just about anything and everything. It's also fair to point out that the graphics for this game are great - they may not be the best that the PS4 has to offer, but it's a definite step up over previous gen titles. Dying Light is sure to develop a cult following just as the Dead Island titles - if you are looking for a first person zombie basher with rpg elements and a fusion of parkour gameplay, then you'll probably enjoy this game.

Fantastic game, even greater then the original. If you are like me and missed out on your opportunity to play the first remake on the Gamecube, then this is your golden opportunity. I absolutely love the remastered visuals, and the few minor tweaks here and there to mix up the games sequencing. The 'modern' control scheme works great for this game, and is highly favorable over the classical tank style controls (although you are welcome to use them if you would like to). Capcom finally got something right with this one, and I hope that enough gamers give it the love and support it deserves to help them realize what direction this series needs to continue on.

Give this game a chance before you decide to pass it up. Freedom Wars may not seem to appealing from the outside looking in, but once you get the ball rolling it becomes increasingly difficult to put down. You will definitely have to wait it out though - I'd highly recommend you give this game a good 2 hours or so to develop before you pass judgement on it. It can be very overbearing early on, and downright oppressive. Once you get the hang of things though, you'll find that Freedom Wars has an immersive atmosphere, an engaging storyline, and very solid gameplay mechanics.

Great port for the Vita, and perfect for on the go. While the framerate suffers at times of heavy combat, the game as a whole is very playable. This is may not be the optimal Borderlands experience if you'd rather use a **** personally, there's something about this game that just feels very comfortable on the Vita. The controls take some getting used to, but are very doable. I find them to be adequate, and have had little difficulty getting responsive actions from either the front or rear touchpad. All in all, I'm very pleased Iron Galaxy's work with this port, and love having Borderlands at my fingertips.

The glorious achievement in Halo: The Master Chief Collection is that you have 4 phenomenal games all on one disc. This is the collection that casual Halo fans have been waiting for, and while it may not be delivered in a perfect package, it definitely get's the job done. Sadly, the multiplayer is far from polished and has many bugs that 343 has yet to work out. As a mainstream series such as Halo, that's hard to accept as a consumer. The reason that I stand my ground on a high rating is in the fantastic campaigns of Halo 1-4 all woven together running at 60fps (most of the time). The difference in the framerate alone makes the experience that much more fun, and the updated visuals (especially of Halo 2) leave these games feeling fresh and far from old. Unfortunately for now, you get a bit more quantity than quality, however as an old school Halo fan, I'm beyond content with the content offered up purely at the single player level.

The overall user reviews are a terrible point of reference. The number of reviewers giving it a flat 0 is ridiculous, the only way a game truly deserves a rating that low is if it is literally unplayable. Sunset Overdrive is an incredibly original IP that brings a fresh sense of exploration to the table. The punk style of the game almost feels like a direct throwback to the 90's, delivering a nostalgic feeling like playing a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater game. The gameplay is fast at all times, so don't plan on standing still for very long. The character customization is really good, and adds to the enjoyment of riding through the wacky campaign. The humor is a bit on the weak side, but I personally appreciated the random silliness as I tore through Sunset City. Technically speaking, the game seems to have been patched up well and delivers a fairly seamless multiplayer experience. All in all, Sunset Overdrive is in my opinion one of the more overrated titles on the Xbox One, and deserves credit for thinking way outside the box to deliver a game that feels old school and yet new school all in one.

This has been my very first experience with the Far Cry series, and I absolutely love it. Far Cry 4 brings many non-traditional elements to the fps genre, and the overall execution is almost flawless. The game is beautiful, featuring vibrant colors, fast gunplay and great detail. The game handles very solid, though there are moments where it feels a bit buggy. Overall, I love the gunplay. It definitely takes some getting use to, but when you do get the hang of things you just feel very engaged in the atmosphere. Far Cry 4's main antagonist, Pagan Min, is one of my favorite in video games history. Think Handsome Jack from Borderlands, only add an even greater metrosexual flare. Min is incredibly sarcastic, yet can snap at the blink of an eye revealing his darker, deadlier side. There are a many, many, many things to do in Kyrat, from rescuing hostages to destroying enemy propaganda, to spending hours hunting down animals to upgrade your equipment. It's almost overwhelming at first, and will easily distract you from the main story line, giving the game even greater longevity. I haven't been so enthralled and excited for a fps title since Call of Duty Black Ops first hit the market, and I can easily say that I have fully jumped on the Far Cry band wagon for iterations to come. This one is a MUST have for the 2014 holiday season.

I really want to like Unity, and I keep putting precious time and effort into it with the hopes that I will eventually feel satisfied and justify my purchase....however, the more I play, the more I realize I will be moderately entertained at best. While there are some likeable features to Unity, it feels more like a burden then a game changer. The new rpg elements are a decent idea, but there are ways to work around the system that Ubisoft has built (especially if you are playing with a group of competent players). If you have the money you can buy good weapons and equipment, after that it's just a matter of slaughtering your way through the game. Arno is a boring main character, who lacks character development and likeability even moreso then Connor of AC3. If anything, he is arrogant and has all of the makeshift abilities that every Assassin throughout the series bears. Co-op can actually be a fun experience...when the game isn't bugging out horribly. This is easily the sloppiest AC I have ever seen, and while I found that moderately entertaining comically at first, it quickly becomes frustrating and simply unnecessary. If you want a solid AC experience, try going back and playing Black Flag again, otherwise hit this up when it's in the bargain bin ($20 or less). Very disappointing sequel to a generally solid franchise.

Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition

Diablo III is a fun game that offers unique rpg elements in terms of customization, classes and dungeon diving. All in all, the story is entertaining, but certainly isn't ground breaking. You get to choose from 6 different classes, although that's the most depth you'll get other than choosing your gender. Your goal is to beat all the acts, level up and find as much rare/legendary gear as possible to make your character a beast. This can be fun to do with a group of friends...although the repetitive nature of the game will start to sink in over time. Repetition might be fun for some, and for those people Diablo III will not disappoint. Personally, I grew tired of jumping into a dungeon, killing off enemies, fighting a boss, and then reporting back to town for a lackluster reward. The real rewards in Diablo III come from fighting enemies on a hard difficulty setting and looting them for better equipment. The enemies will grow old though, and the constant back and fourth of the entire game may very well leave you disappointed. All in all, not a bad game, but nothing worthy of an above average rating imo.

I almost forgot to leave a review for this game. I never played The Last of Us on the PS3, because I didn't own one. Fortunately, I had my chance with the Remastered version on the PS4, and I absolutely loved it. Through and through, Naughty Dog creates a masterful story with very solid gameplay that keeps you on your toes and makes you think before you act. This is especially important in the multiplayer, which offers a very nice change of pace compared to the traditional CoD shooter title. Exclusive to the Remastered version is the ability to run the game at 60fps. It might seem like a picky detail, but swapping between the locked 30fps and then changing it back to 60, I couldn't imagine playing the game any other way. Great game that deserves a lot of credit, and should be a part of any Playstation owner's library.

The Evil Within is an exhausting game. Whether you are running for your life, or stumped by a seemingly unsolvable puzzle, it will wear you down. The atmosphere is always tense, never leaving you with a moment of comfort (unless you consider being in a psych ward with Claire De Lune constantly playing comforting). The game controls akin to Resident Evil 4, although the controls are a bit more sluggish. It's important to note that the developers have done this intentionally in order to add to the tension and difficulty of the game. This can all be managed and refined by finding a substance known as green gel throughout the game, and upgrading your abilities and weapons. Once you have done so, you'll notice that the game begins to handle much more easily, but again you have to EARN that. Personally, I appreciate their approach with this; it gives gamers a greater feeling of accomplishment throughout their journey. The story is one that is ever evolving, and the game will literally toss you around through various encounters and scenarios that will literally keep you scratching your head throughout it. The dots to begin to connect as you persevere, whether you seek comfort in that is completely up to perspective. While this game seems to take after the 'action 3rd person shooter' of previous Resident Evil titles, it does give you a very different feeling in the lack of resources available. You cannot stock up on ammunition and health (unless you upgrade the ability to), and even if you do resources are hard to come by. You will often feel like you have what you need, but you will NEVER feel like you have too much. Graphically speaking, the game is far from superior. Current gen or next gen, it simply isn't the best looking title on the market. That being said, it is done well enough to the point that you won't be overly worried about pixel perfect textures, and while said textures aren't always perfect, the atmosphere throughout the entire game will keep you engaged regardless. The Evil Within was very tastefully done, and brings back elements of anxiety and tension that we have not seen in horror video game titles in years. It may not be perfection, but it is definitely worthy of praise for it's contribution to the survival horror genre.

Destiny

Destiny is a very solid first person shooter that brings along all of the solid mechanics and gunplay that you would expect from Bungie's group. The pvp is fun, and strike missions are a blast to tackle with friends. That being said, Destiny has many short comings that keep it from being anything beyond average. The less than stellar story is one thing, but the horribly repetitive patterns of deploying and guarding ghosts will wear you thin by the end of the game. In fact, given the games development time, I'd say the biggest disappointment is the lack of content readily available right out of the box. This is where Activision continues to insult and manipulate the gaming world via dlc releases, gouging additional money from careless users until the next big thing comes along. It's really sad to see this sort of thing happening with a Bungie title, but unfortunately that's what you will be getting into with Destiny. In terms of social aspects of the game, Destiny bears even more letdown. While Destiny was created to give off a large open world social/MMO vibe, Destiny is hardly social at all beyond the ability to walk up and randomly dance with someone. Unless players are in your fireteam or party, you actually cannot communicate with them at all. This completely contradicts any social affects that Bungie may have been going for, and is just extremely disappointing. All in all, this is NOT a bad game to play, however it falls well short of my personal expectations, especially coming from the group that created Halo. Nothing revolutionary here, just another shooter to eat away a few months of your time.

There are about 3 different buttons needed to play this game, and I for one love the old school simplicity. The gameplay itself is somewhat repetitive, but it's engaging and satisfyingly challenging. Lots of people are saying that this game doesn't look all that **** I'm not sure they're playing the same game as me at all. Rayman Legends

User Scorerevrevolution
Sep 7, 2013
Like many other sequels, Rayman Legends tries to take the essential elements of it's predecessor Origins and modify them just enough to give it a fresh, shiny new feel. Unfortunately, Legends could have learned from itself in this case by bringing the gameplay "Back to Origins". While Rayman Legends is packed to the gills with content and challenging gameplay, somewhere along the line it strayed away from some of the basic elements that made Origins so phenomenal in the first place. Collecting lums feels very different, as you are expected to collect even more than before in every level (the giant sleeping lums that turned smaller lums red and made them dance have been replaced with an ordered pair of pink lums that offer the same effect, minus the fun music and timed excitement). Even when playing the 'Back to Origins' stages, these new effects remain. Also, you are now faced with the challenge of finding 10 teensies hidden in every level (smaller levels may have only 3, and this effect is also carried over into the Origins levels). I find it to be an effective change, however it only adds frustration to my experience having to do all of the extra footwork. I'm not sure why Ubisoft decided to change something that didn't seem to be flawed in the first place. Finally, the Murphy **** the Murphy levels. Forced down your throat, you will get sick of these gimmicky levels very, very quickly. A seemingly good idea at first, but once you've played 2 or even 3 in a given world, you grow sick of them very quickly. I applaud Ubisoft for making the use of touch controls in this scenario, however it strays away from the basic formula that again made Origins so successful in the first place. All this negativity being said, Rayman Legends is certainly not a bad game, and is chock full of charisma and challenging gameplay. Fans of Origins may find themselves getting frustrated with Legends at times, however there is enough of everything in this game to at least keep it balanced and make you want to keep moving forward.

I'm a little confused by the moderate to poor reviews that most critics are giving this game it's everything it was on the 3DS and then some. Personally, I think the graphics look very good on the console port, and really that's a testament to how well they were on the 3DS in the first place. The controls feel very smooth to me, though the only moderate gripe I can throw out there is the lack of a laser pointer for the aiming system. You now have a set crosshair that glows blue, red or green when it is locked onto a damageable target. Again, nothing huge but I do miss my laser pointer. Many critics have complained about the textures looking washed and blurry....however I have absolutely no complaints about them. As a matter of fact, I find myself soaking in the environment and even noticing things that I simply didn't when I played this game on the 3DS, so I'd say that's a nice improvement. A solid entry in the series, however it's pretty obvious that Epic Games decided to roll the dice on this one and try some things new with People Can Fly studio. Everything about Gears Judgement feels different from your rule of thumb Gears of War title. Gone are the days of directional pad gun **** a matter of fact, you only get to swap between 2 now using the Y button. Grenades operate a little differently as well, as they are now tossed with the LB button. The enemies are familiar, as are the main characters.....minus their personal flair. While Baird still has his occasional one liners, fan favorite Cole Train is as dry bone as ever. Very rarely does Cole have any witty remarks or funny classical 'Cole' moments. All the charm and charisma that made these characters so attractive in the first place just.....aren't there. I simply don't understand why Epic Games would even think about tampering with a formula that was already perfect to begin with. I feel like this title was really half hearted, and I hope that if this franchise continues towards the next generation of gaming that it corrects it's errors and brings back all of the elements that make Gears of War so great in the first place.

Persona 4 Golden is a great slice of Japanese culture brought right to you in handheld form. It has all the elements necessary to create a great rpg experience, and enough charisma and charm to create a story that is driving and addictive. Beauty comes in simplicity, and Persona 4 capitalizes on this notion in almost every aspect. It's hard for me to give any game, let alone a great one like this, a 10 rating (especially since it is a port of a PS2 game). That's no excuse to overlook this title though, or you will sorely miss out. A fair warning to gamers though this game develops very slowly, and while it is likely that you will get **** into the story if you are an impatient gamer you may lose interest fairly quickly. Persona 4 keeps things sweet and simple, so if you are looking for an action based rpg you may have better luck checking out Ragnarok Odyssey. Dynasty Warriors next brings you great hack n slash gameplay fused with touchscreen mechanics to create an all around fun experience (handheld or not). While most critics have ragged on Next for it's implementation of touch screen mechanics, I've personally found them to be quite adaptable, and all around pretty fun. Gameplay is smooth and load times are practically non-existent, which I find amazing coming from a portable device. The characters are well designed and look great, when compared side by side to a title like Samurai Warriors Chronicles for the 3DS it becomes obvious which system creates a better visual display. My biggest complaint with Next is the layout of it's campaign, which is akin to a DW Legends title. Rather than being story and task driven, the main objective in and out of missions is simply to conquer every base and eventually take out the enemies main camp. While this does become repetitive, the ability to change up characters is always a nice option. All in all, Dynasty Warriors Next is a far better game then most critics have given it credit for. Ragnarok Odyssey brings so many great elements to the table for the Vita. Many critics like to compare it to the likes of Monster Hunter, and have thusly cast it aside as a cheap knockoff. As a gamer who has never played Monster Hunter, and who has played Ragnarok Online, I've found that Odyssey is nothing less than an all around fun hack and slash live action rpg that holds true to the main elements found in the traditional game. It's a bit of a dungeon diving set up, another rpg element that some might find to be a turn off, however the gameplay is so addicting that most gamers won't mind this at all. There are 6 classes to choose from when creating a character, and the customization varies from gender, to hair styles, colors, and even the sound of the characters voice. Characters grow stronger by completing Chapters and also by upgrading their armor with cards, which can have various effects. Cards and weapons can be found by slaying monsters in the open world maps during quests. All in all, Ragnarok Odyssey is one of the finest rpg offerings available for the Vita, and it's really a shame that the critics couldn't see beyond the fact that this game simply wasn't meant to be Monster Hunter.

I had little difficulty adjusting to the gameplay on the Vita, and found that the multiplayer still felt just like Call of Duty. It's a bit more sluggish, and takes a little adjusting, but ultimately it's pretty fun. This is coming from a consumer who got the game free with the Vita bundle. I would not recommend anyone go out of their way to buy this game for $50, that's just not fair. One can spend hours on end simply venturing around the frontier and exploring every corner of a very wide and diverse map. The combat is fairly simple, and I found myself adapting to it with relative ease. While the campaign is being critiqued at around 10-12 hours, I personally have put around 8 hours into the title without even obtaining my assassin's robe with yet with Conner. There are plenty of ways to stay engaged with this game and truly soak everything in. In terms of gameplay, it's about as fun of mindless button mashing as there is - leveling up characters is fun as well as collecting new armor and weapons to help polish your character (which there are many fun characters to choose from for free play). My only real 'beef' with this title is that gameplay does indeed slow down a lot during during some battles - this can be distracting at times, but honestly after you've played the game for a while you get use to it pretty quickly. The slowdowns aren't enough to keep this game from being a real keeper, if you're into side scrolling beat down games, then check this one out.
