The Odyssey2
Jul 19, 2026
I, like so many others found The Odyssey to be a frustrating and massively underwhelming experience. While beautify shot, there is nothing else to recommend it. If Hollywood is content to throw hundreds of millions of dollars at Nolan in the future, then fool on them. A classic case of style over substance.

Disclosure Day2
Jun 25, 2026
What was going through Spielberg's mind when he was filming this?!! He hasn't made a movie really worthy of his name in over a decade and DD is arguably his worst to date.

The Creator10
Oct 6, 2023
I'm baffled that so many critic and user reviews are less than glowing about The Creator. I had the best time in a movie theatre since watching Dune {part 1} nearly two years ago!

Barbie2
Jul 21, 2023
I went in to Barbie knowing that it had a feminist slant which I personally have no problem with. What I wasn't prepared for was a mostly joyless and often plain unfunny lecture on how men are 'bad' who stifle women's 'limitless' potential. Gerwig has somehow made a movie that demeans both men AND women. Bravo!

Men2
May 28, 2022
I can't add much to what has already been said from other cinemagoers. A massively disappointing effort from a once promising director.

Alone9
Nov 10, 2020
I can't believe some of the negative reviews posted here. Did they see the same movie as me?! While some suspension of disbelief is necessary it doesn't detract from what is a great, edge- of-your-seat thriller. Go see.

The Invisible Man8
Feb 28, 2020
Elizabeth Moss gives a fantastic performance though her character does make some questionable decisions which require suspension of disbelief. Having said that The Invisible Man is a great little psychological Horror/thriller and well worth a trip to the cinema.

Joker9
Oct 6, 2019
Joker is one of those rare movies that my only regret in watching it is that I can never watch it again for the first time. That being said, I'm not sure when if ever I could watch it again as it's such an exhausting experience. And I mean that in a good way. One of the best movies of this century so far.

Midsommar2
Jul 11, 2019
As someone else commented 'a film school project'. Trash is one thing. Trash masquerading as something profound, even art is something else. Like Aronofsky's dire mother! Midsommar is just style and no real substance whatsoever. Avoid.

A Quiet Place7
Apr 17, 2018
An atmospheric and suspenseful movie well worth seeing though as others have said, not the scarefest some of the critics have made it out to be. If you've got the patience for it and are prepared to overlook some inconsistencies I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi3
Dec 16, 2017
After the letdown that was The Force Awakens {all style; virtually no substance} I thought the next installment would be safe in Rian Johnson's hands. Sadly, The Last Jedi is no better; perhaps even worse.

Song to Song2
Oct 7, 2017
There are some directors that are lionized by critics to the extent that can seem to do no wrong. Malick is such a director. His reputation may have once been deserved, but surly not now. Song To Song may be the nail in the coffin of his career as far as I'm concerned. Just terrible.

Blade Runner 20499
Oct 6, 2017
There's certainly more style than substance on show in the new sequel, but the story is still engaging. At no point during the nearly three hours running time did I feel bored or frustrated with how the plot was moving along. There will obviously be negative comparisons with the original, but this film should taken on it's own merit, and great merit it has.

mother!2
Sep 16, 2017
After the travesty that was Noah, I thought Aronofsky might be back on form with mother!. How wrong I was. Of course there will be those that argue that I just don't get it, but really, what is there to 'get'? It may be open to many different interpretations but the viewer needs to be invested enough to care what it all might mean. I just wasn't. I'm calling you out Aronofky. You are a charlatan sir.

The Invitation2
Nov 5, 2016
Pretentious twaddle masquerading as something much more deep and meaningful. If your idea **** movie is watching privileged, self indulgent, {mostly} 30 somethings get together and self destruct then go ahead. Otherwise avoid.

Wiener-Dog9
Sep 7, 2016
Terrific movie and unusually for for Solondz quite touching in places. If you are an overly sentimental dog lover I would urge caution, otherwise highly recommended.

The Hateful Eight1
Dec 30, 2015
This is an awful, amateurish {in some respects} movie from a director who doesn't deserve the adoration he so often gets. The Hateful Eight is a nasty piece of work featuring crude caricatures of characters from much better Westerns. I hope this bombs at the box office and forces everyone involved with this rubbish to give pause for thought.

Predestination8
Jan 9, 2015
Anyone who goes to see Predestination on the strength of the trailer alone will find their patience tested by a large portion of the movie which will leave you wondering what's going on. Your patience will be more than rewarded though. This is the first movie I think I've ever watched that I wanted to immediately watch again {to see if I had actually made sense of it all!}. Highly recommended.

Exodus: Gods and Kings2
Dec 12, 2014
This film would be laughable if it wasn't so depressing, and by depressing I mean Scott's blatant disregard for the Bible account he supposedly drew inspiration from. I wish I had walked out but I was compelled by a morbid desire to see just how bad it could get. In that respect I wasn't disappointed. Guaranteed to frustrate, disappoint or amuse the faithful and faithless in equal measure.

St. Vincent9
Oct 24, 2014
I'll watch pretty much anything with Bill Murray in it but I went to see this with lowish expectations having read some lukewarm reviews. It just goes to show you shouldn't be influenced too much by reviews. This is a great film IMHO, possibly one of Murray's best. The whole cast is great and while it may be a bit mawkish and predictable it hits all the right notes with both the comedy and the drama. Highly recommended.

Noah2
Mar 28, 2014
What do you get if you mix 130 million dollars, a talented but clearly misguided director and a story believed and respected by hundreds of millions of people around the world. In this instance, a nonsensical mess thats what. The 2 points are for a few striking scenes in an otherwise dreadful movie.
Feb 12, 2014
RoboCop7
Feb 12, 2014
Much better than I expected. I can't help but feel that some of the less than positive reviews are because of unfavourable comparisons with the original which is unfair because in many ways this is a better movie than the original.

Inside Llewyn Davis4
Dec 9, 2013
I agree with DirkV. I too am a big fan of much of their work, and when they successfully combine their unique visual flair, humour and a good story they are peerless. This just left me cold. Like another overrated film of theirs, O Brother..., this had virtually no substance whatsoever.

The Counselor1
Oct 27, 2013
Absolutely dreadful; a total dogs breakfast of a film. I can't think of a worse example of squandered potential in recent memory. if you are looking for a truer, scarier and altogether more believable portrayal of the drugs business, I suggest looking no further than Breaking Bad.

Gravity10
Oct 4, 2013
Wow! I rarely enthuse about any film these days, but this is something very special. Gravity is not only intense, devastating and ultimately life affirming, but has single handedly changed my opinion of Sandra Bullock, an actress who I normally have no time for. Full marks.
Jan 2, 2013
Jack Reacher8
Jan 2, 2013
Much better than I had expected. forget the naysayers; this is two hours of good if not great cinema. I am not a huge fan of Cruise the celebrity, but Cruise the actor almost always delivers the goods and this is no exception

Looper5
Oct 6, 2012
This movie is very hard to score out of 10, as the first half was as brilliant as the second half was disappointing, so I've opted for a 5. In my opinion, it would have been far more satisfying without the inclusion of the "Rainmaker" subplot, which bogged it down and stretched the limits of credibility to breaking point.
