This is a bad game. It's pretty to look at, sure, but it is BORING af. I have my doubts that anyone at Bethesda actually tested any of this stuff. Literally every single thing in this game is tedious. I can't even put into words the disdain I feel towards the inventory and resource management. Not to speak of the total lack of any information to do literally anything. The much advertised ship builder is a total piece of trash. Base (or outpost) building takes hours and honestly, I think I'll just stop playing it altogether. At this time, I seriously want to punch Todd in the face, lmao

- very mediocre writing - not a single likable character. All are **** all the time, the macho-protagonist being the pinnacle of horny idiocy - lackluster voice acting (both in English and German). They didn't even bother to hire actual Germans to voice the Germans' German lines - way too much senseless stuff to do on the map in terms of post-game (like Assassin's Creed, but even worse) - abysmal mission design - nice visual gimmick with the black/white turning into colors - climbing mechanic is okay. Not on a level with AC, but it has its advantages - decent variety in cars and weapons It's quite obvious that Pandemic had way too little money and time on their hands (thanks to those **** at EA) to fully capitalize on the potential **** like this. The unique setting and aesthetic were promising, but poor writing and lack of funds held this back from being great, or even decent. (Any comparisons with GTA or Mafia 2 really aren't suitable, in my opinion. GTA has always shown a lot more quality in writing and management, while Mafia 2 simply shares a similar time-frame while being infinitely better written and designed) EDIT: There is an impossible collectible. Good thing pandemic shut down

nostalgia-wise, this is an easy 10. However, it does have some short comings and the levels are often rather poorly designed. Otherwise, good title with more than enough content.

How lazy do you want to get? Nintendo: yesssssss If Super Mario 3D All-stars didn't exist, I'd classify this game as the biggest cash-grab in Nintendo's history (which says a lot). You've got six games and one coming later. Of every game there is just the bare minimum and, except maybe for soccer, they've all been done better before by Nintendo themselves. If you compare it to Wii Sports or, much better, Wii Sports Resort, this game falls short in every. single. category. Except maybe for the online Leagues but considering Nintendo's netcode feels older than the Internet itself, this is only a drop in the ocean. Even the Joy-Cons feel inferior to the Wii Remote. At least the latter could be re-calibrated mid-game which they somehow forgot here. It's overall evident that no competent designer of ANY capacity was involved in development of Switch Sports. I've rarely seen worse and less functional UI (except for maybe ubisoft's STEEP). It's overall a mediocre experience that perfectly encapsulates current day Nintendo's philosophy: don't work smart OR hard. Just don't work at all.

SM3DW: Decent platformer with a few glaring issues. The levels are generally good and fun but overall not well designed. The only real problems I had were the controls (which I got used to) and the lack of depth-perception. Firstly, the controls feel very floaty and the levels were clearly not designed with so much pace in mind. They should've maybe not sped it up as much as they did. You can get used to it, though. The lack of depth-perception really made me mad a couple of times. I died to it often and needlessly. A 3D-platformer that fails at its only gimmick (other than being playable on WiiU) should maybe be overhauled thoroughly. It doesn't help that the camera-movement is as bare-bones as it can get. It is also obvious that they had no idea how to utilize the Switch in terms of technical fidelity. Graphics still don't look as good as they could and there were moments where I thought, "are they not ashamed to present this to the world for $60?" Other than that it is a decently fun game, especially recommended for kids who just want to have fun or are not very experienced with video-games. They'll probably adapt very quickly and be able to forgive the 3D-problems Bowser's Fury: To me, definitely better than 3D World. It's fairly short, but the level design is very good and the 'puzzles' are decently creative. Reminded me a lot of SM Sunshine. It's also short enough to not become repetitive for me. ------------------ overall definitely a lazy package from Nintendo (no surprises there), that's never worth more than 40 bucks (except maybe for fanboys or very inexperienced players). It's incredibly short and even the newer Bowser's Fury had obvious technical issues.

I was really excited to finally be able to play this game. So much praise and all the trailers/screenshots looked fantastic. However, after having enjoyed the first five hours, the fun basically stopped entirely. Here are some aspects that stood out to me. | Story: There are essentially two stories in this game. One of the past, and the present story. In the game you're basically trying to figure out what happened to the world while unraveling the story of the past. The story of the present was pretty bad in my opinion and the world-background was the main thing that kept me going through this game. While not entirely original, it was intriguing and kept me wondering what would happen next. | Characters: Just terrible. Aloy, our protagonist, is one of the most annoying main-characters I've ever come across. While it is very refreshing to have a female lead that is not sexualized (in any way), she more than made up for that with stupid remarks and just an unlikeable attitude. The voice-actress was the best in the game, but the lines were just horrible. She also wouldn't stop chattering to herself with useless phrases that completely broke any sense of immersion. I generally dislike (game-) protagonists that are unable to shut their mouth for just two minutes, but this time around she really made me hate almost every minute I played. What also bothered me was that she always (and I mean ALWAYS) was right about everything. No matter how illogical her thinking was, she somehow always managed to exactly hit the mark on any "riddle" that presented itself. She never really seemed to struggle with anything and thus made a really uninteresting case of "I'm the chosen one so I cannot fail in any way". Pretty much every other character was simply a puppet used to advance the story in any possible way. No interesting "rivals", only incredibly stupid cardboard cutouts (although a lot dumber). | Visuals: This game is obviously gorgeous in almost every way. Every screenshot looks breath-taking and foliage looks convincing. However, there were some things that really bothered me and seemed too easy to fix. - rainy weather. I'm not sure if anybody at Guerilla ever experienced rain, but it certainly does not immediately put a black & white-filter over your eyes. Gameplay was heavily impeded by this, as visual clues get lost completely on a bright screen. It just does not look good. - caves. and subsequently, Aloy being too dumb to carry her own light around. Not sure if she has nightvision and doesn't care to share or if the developers had their screen-brightness on maximum. With HDR enabled, caves were a chore to plow through. Barely anything is visible and even machine lights do not help a lot with orientation. The world looked great at night though, so no idea what they f'ed up there. - terrain. It looked generally great (as I hinted at with the believable foliage) but stones basically always look like plastic. Not sure if this is a shader-issue, but I felt like playing in a sandpit with plastic rocks again. | Combat: While I think the idea of machines and vulnerable parts to shoot off is great, it just got boring after a while. It's cool that you can see the parts flying off and can then use them to craft other things, but the novelty wore off a lot faster than I expected. - Hit-detection (or lack thereof). My biggest gripe with the ranged combat was the hit-detection. Not only are there numerous invisible walls throughout the game (even in boss-fights) but arrows also sometimes go straight through enemies. Being in an intense fight just to either see three arrows stuck in the air before me or have several consecutive arrows go straight through human heads (WTF) without dealing damage makes me want to throw my controller until it's considered micro-plastic. Seriously, how did they not manage to fix stuff like this in four years?? - close combat. Honestly some of the worst melee I've experienced in years. Not only do animations take ages, they also cannot be cancelled and the lack of a lock-on feature completely killed it. Luckily, there aren't many situations that require its use. | Other things: - Dialogue. Holy **** is it bad. I had to laugh out loud at almost every other sentence with how stupid it was. Not sure if this is due to the studios lack of experience with open-world games, but damn the game took itself WAY too seriously and 95% of all sentences made no sense. Voice acting (except for the two main-characters) was also very sub-par. My opinion probably was also influenced by the horrible facial-animations. Another heavy task, of course, but damn it removed every ounce of respect I had left for the dialogue. - Inventory. Not talking about UI here (it was pretty good actually) but how space is managed. Basically, it's like the inventory in Minecraft, just with stacks of 50 items. The problem is that it is full WAY too fast and usually with items you never need

I never played any God of War and only looked at Kratos' past story to be up to date for this game. The Story is awesome and the Father-Son-relationship really worked surprisingly well. Most characters were very interesting and all seemed to make enough sense to be enjoyable. As mentioned, I haven't played any of the earlier games, but I thought norse mythology was very well connected to Kratos and vice versa. The humor brought in by the contrast of characters also works very well. Also a great soundtrack. The music was often not in the foreground, but when it stood out, it reminded me a lot of the lord of the rings movies, which is pretty damn good. The game is obviously gorgeous. Very colorful and shiny. To the point where I personally did not enjoy it as much anymore, because visual clues get lost easily and especially in tough combat situations, sensory overload is a constant problem. But in slow moments I can really appreciate it. Visually, it feels a lot more like a Marvel-movie than it should. The combat is fine. I personally think it makes little sense to have a literal, immortal god be killed VERY fast by some undead goons but maybe that's just me. Most enemies are okayish in terms of design and boss battles are largely enjoyable. I definitely think there are some (very) cheap aspects to some enemies/bosses, but never in story/mandatory instances so I don't think it's too big of a deal. However, it really feels unresponsive as hell. While animation-cancelling is a thing, they really did not go through with it. Blocking- and Sprinting-inputs are constantly ignored and that's kinda a deal-breaker, especially since they are crucial in terms of how battles are designed. There are also red circles that appear around enemies, when an unblockable attack is about to happen. The timing on those is horrible. Sometimes they appear half a second before impact, sometimes 2 seconds before. This really is annoying and enemies tend to "float" towards me mid-attack, which looks horrible. Menus are not very intuitive. While it's not an Excel-sheet by any means, I feel like they tried to make it as unappealing as possible. It's not a problem if you want to enjoy the story, but everything apart from that kinda needs gear- and ability-management. Those things are no fun and communication to the player on which effects are useful or not is nonexistent. I mainly stuck to one set of abilities because everything else seemed a huge waste of time. The world makes no sense, honestly. While it's really cool to walk Midgard and other places of Norse mythology, the level-design does not follow any kind of "lore"-rules (for lack of a better word). Countless chests with crafting materials everywhere (why are they there?) and crooks and crannies everywhere simply to hide something not worth hiding. While traversing is generally fun (although collecting everything really isn't), you're not allowed to question anything since that'll make it fall apart quickly. (link omitted per site rules) Overall, I enjoyed the experience greatly, but post-game is just work without any fun and there are weirdly off-putting things, that should be really obvious to game-designers

Liked the game, but there were many things that really bugged me. I never played any Yakuza game or anything from the studio, so I didn't have any expectations. First of all, I really liked the story. It was quite long and had serious pacing issues, but it really felt like a top-tier crime series. Overall very well written and engaging. Funnily enough, the last third of the game, which is made up of the shortest chapters, felt extremely stretched out and wasn't particularly fun (except for the story bits). I really did not like the combat, though. The system itself is not necessarily bad, but it seemed very rushed. Many mandatory fights are straight up badly designed and some bosses are pretty unfair (I'm talking Bed-of-Chaos-unfair here...). It doesn't help that the game basically consists of constant fighting. For the first 15 hours it was pretty fun, but after that it just felt tedious and unnecessary. Some mechanics are just not good. Singled out, they do have a lot of potential, but in this game they seemed just crammed in with little effort to shake up gameplay. The mechanics that I disliked: - Tailing missions; fun for the first two times. Just annoying afterwards. Especially towards the end they seemed to have skipped any kind of testing on them. - Perma-damage; generally not a bad idea and definitely effective in keeping the player on their toes. The implementation was just poor. It basically just meant that long fighting sequences without any chance of accessing the open world became a risky endeavour. As soon as one was in the open again, it basically was just a waste of time and money. (The worst was one "boss" who dealt out non-dodgable perma-damage. Depending on the last save-point, this fight could become a huge problem for some players) - Bosses; I don't mean the bosses as characters - they usually were rather intriguing. How the fights were arranged was very bad, though. No consideration for how the combat works. The fact that I had to eat up to 30 meals during a fight just to heal up from some random non-dodgable combos is ridiculous. The worst was one passage were I had to fight one certain "boss" four or five times over. Really made the single fights seem useless and insignificant. - Threat Level; probably the worst thing about this game. Increased chance of random battles basically for the rest of you playtime... Seriously? Definitely one of the most annoying, unnecessary and time-consuming things they could've thought up. Clearly, this was a last-minute implementation that was not thoroughly tested. Overall everything related to combat simply felt lazy in terms of design. It doesn't help that apart from fighting, there is very little in terms of gameplay if you concentrate on the Main Story.

Easily among the worst games I've ever played. I owned the Wii version back in the day. It was pretty much my favorite game and I must have played it around 12 times from front to back. Revisiting the Xbox-360 version now, I realise how incredibly bad it is. Mind you, the Wii and 360 versions are basically different games. The story is the same but gameplay, level design and pretty much everything else is different. This version is borderline unplayable. Sure, there are cool things present, but it feels more like an unpolished, unbalanced technical demo than anything else. Disney obviously doesn't give a f#ck about this property (it never was canon), but I hope that one day there will be a remake. There is a lot of potential, but as a game, there is barely anything of quality to be found here. Although, credit where credit is due: I don't like quick time events, but this game has one of the best QTE-implementations I've ever seen

*I have yet to play the second part. The following only concentrates on Shenmue I* I'm not sure why, but I kinda liked this game. Nothing really stands out in particular (except for the Music!), but the presentation was excellent and the world seemed very much alive. Combat is not my cup of tea, although there certainly is some potential buried somewhere. It also has some major design flaws that can get annoying very fast (I advise using some kind of guide. Spoilers should be avoided, but sometimes it's hard to know what to do exactly). The last five or so ingame days also dragged on heavily and was plagued by the most "mistakes" in terms of design. It's obviously an older game, but it held up enough to enjoy a first playthrough this time around. The Xbox One port is alright. Some QoL changes here and there would not have hurt the game, but I suppose it was brought over just the way it was 20 years ago. I'm definitely looking forward to the second game

Marvel's Spider-Man

Really an excellent game with some flaws here and there. I'm personally not the biggest Spider-Man fan as I get easily annoyed by tropey jokes (which is kinda the modern Marvel way i feel). I grew up with the first Spider-Man trilogy, though, and absolutely loved it. I also enjoyed the Amazing Spider-Man, although I couldn't get warm with the newest iteration. This game however more or less does its own thing. Of course, there are your classic villains, but it takes place a few years after the origin-story, so we have a slightly more experienced vigilante to deal with. The Good: - Graphics. I wasn't too impressed when I just looked at screenshots or heard people say how detailed the world is. But having played it myself, I wholeheartedly agree. Quite impressive what they've managed to pull off on the PS4 (I played on Pro), especially considering the size of the world. - Story. While there are flaws and the dialogue was often rather weak (especially with the villains), the overall story doesn't have to hide from its movie-counterparts. While character intentions where often questionable, if not downright stupid, it wasn't really distracting and there were enough things going on in parallel for me to not get bored. - the Swing. The swinging is really that good that it deserves to be praised on its own. You have a short array of options how to traverse through the air and once you've gotten used to it, you'll really feel like Spider-Man. You'll want to stay off the streets for as long as possible anyway, for following reasons. The Meh: - Combat and Spider-Man on the ground. While the similarities to the Arkham-series are uncanny, the combat felt way more fleshed out imo. While you basically have to follow button-prompts with Batman and chain a few to get certain moves most of the time, Spider-Man seems to have much more control over what tools he's got on hand. The fluidity also doesn't feel as floaty as Batman's and movement seems more natural. There are downsides to it, however. The dodge was VERY inconsistent and button-inputs seemed to get ignored a little too often. Spider-Man is also much too slow when walking and basically took a nap after every dodge, creating rather unfair situations at times. It also doesn't help that he gets stuck in geometry very often, making dodge-attempts completely useless, even if it's just a water-hydrant or a car (he should definitely be able to jump those, no?). The Bad: - The opening Mission (Tutorial). Probably among the worst I've seen from games like this. The combat system really needs getting used to, so having a mission to train is much needed. The mission itself was not great, however. For someone who just started the game for the first time, the mission-objectives where sometimes not clear at all (those turrets still make me angry) and the boss-fight was too hard at that stage. It starts off the story in a nice way, but I bet many players got turned off immediately when they first tried it. For this reason, I would honestly never recommend the game to anyone who rarely plays video-games or never dove into the genre before (Arkham would be a better fit, probably) Also: easy plat :)

First of all, I really, really wanted to like this game. I've heard tons of great stuff, and a metacritic of 91 set high expectations. Also, some other things to know before reading on: - I've never played the original. I have no nostalgic feelings or memories about the game. Prior to playing it, I've only heard the greatest of things about it. - If you like the game, that's awesome. This is not meant as an attack towards people who enjoy the game. As long as games draw people in, I'm happy. No matter if I myself don't enjoy something. There are simply some aspects that ruined the experience for me So let's begin with my thoughts on the game. The Good: - Graphics. Obviously. I'm not sure if I've ever played a game that looked better. Maybe Red Dead Redemption 2. SotC is definitely a very pretty game. - Music. I wouldn't call the score a masterpiece, but it's somewhere between "very good" and "awesome" for me. I'll definitely listen to it some more in my own time. The Meh: - Story. Many people praise it to heights not achievable by anything else it seems. But to me, the (very, very small) bits of story did not really hit the mark. It's certainly not bad, but considering the bias I got by listening to other opinions, I was quite disappointed. There is a (kinda) clever twist, but I felt like it was too little too late to move me. The whole premise also isn't that great over all. There is MUCH better stuff out there that doesn't get nearly as much attention or praise. I can still see why people like it, though The Bad: - Controls. I'm NOT talking about the control-scheme (or button-mapping). This is about how using the controller translates to what's happening on screen. I get that the protagonist is supposed to be very young and inexperienced, but from a gameplay-perspective unresponsiveness and clunk (at least to that extent) are not justified by that. - Horse riding. Pretty much the worst riding controls I've ever come across. Tank controls in general are great (again, not about button-mapping) but the horse simply doesn't react to half my inputs. It slows down when I want to accelerate. It randomly takes a 90°-turn in an open field without me even touching the controller. It's unable to go faster than 2 km/h in forests (except in the very center of the "road"). Walking was often faster. In a game that is literally 50% riding, this can become a deal-breaker very quickly. Sure, a horse can have its own will, but this completely destroys any emotional connection with the horse I could have otherwise built. - Camera. Straight up the worst in the biz. Never have I experienced an ingame-camera even half that stubborn. Hell, most N64 games probably do better. The camera always tries to move to a "cinematic" point of view. That's generally not bad. Riding across a huge meadow can look stunning; having it zoom out while climbing a colossus breathtaking. But 99% of the time, it's just annoying. Even when trying to adjust it manually, the camera fights you. It always pans to a more impractical position. It doesn't help that the direction of climbing (on fur, for example) depends on how the camera is positioned. If it's turning all the time - which it often does when mounting a colossus, without the player getting much control over it - the left stick will have to be yanked in different directions countless times, just to move in ONE direction. I could rant on, but I think the point came across. Overall the experience could be described as this: I was not fighting the Colossi. I was killing them, but only through fighting the controls and the camera. I simply don't see that as justified for a modern game. Even a remaster such as this should have adjustments. Maybe even a toggle to switch between old and new controls/camera? Finally, if the problems were the same in the original, I see how people call this a great remaster (I guess). So if you've loved the original despite the controls, by all means play this remaster. It's just that in this day and age, there is no way I can recommend it on its own.

definitely better than the first DLC, although the story is bonkers and makes no sense. The map(s) is/are, again, the highlight. Not sure if I would pay 20 bucks, but in a sale, this could be worth your time/money if you liked the base game a lot. The positives still don't really outweigh the negatives enough (for me) to justify a higher score. The base game is probably still the strongest bang-for-your-buck in the whole package

I'm mainly giving this game 7/10 because of the typical Rockstar humor and the unique setting. It's very much aged in a non-favorable way. The controls are the worst I've ever experienced from a R*-game and the performance was not great, even on Xbox One (RDR1 for comparison ran perfectly). Completion was not too bad. By now, the community has pretty much figured out all tricks and checking the boxes isn't too tedious (for people who don't mind it in the first place). Overall an overlooked classic that is worth to play, though it is not necessarily a must

I played Limbo right before this one and did not enjoy it much. Inside is quite a bit better though. This time around, the puzzles made more sense and the story was actually in the game and not just in its description. The move from 2D into 3D (without abandoning the "side scroller" movement) worked very well, and the controls were a lot more polished in comparison to the predecessor. I overall enjoyed it, but some puzzles felt unnecessarily frustrating and the timing was often way too narrow. Otherwise I definitely recommend it over Limbo (although I'd never pay the full 16.49 € on GOG).

I don't think I've ever played a game that was so incredibly overrated. The visuals are great. The art design really resonated with me and the idea of a non-verbal game is also something I can get behind. Now I remember when it came out and basically became a viral hit. I'd played the demo to death and really wanted to play the full thing but never was able to realize it until today. The anticipation probably did it no good at all. Maybe I'm just not in the right headspace right now, but I'm not sure if a single minute was actually fun. Sure, the visuals and atmosphere are appealing. But that's about it. Puzzles were either boring or frustrating and none were particularly hard (maybe 3 that I actually enjoyed). The controls also really held it back. I played with a gamepad and they actually managed to f up two-button-controls*. I also really despise timing-based puzzles, of which this game has A LOT. The biggest problem about the puzzles was that I could often clearly see the solution but was unable to solve it despite that (usually because of the timing-based nature), which is the most frustrating thing ever. They also kinda went the "Dark Souls-route", where you "have" to die multiple times to figure something out. Generally a fun idea, but here it just didn't fit at all. The movement is way too slow for that and the puzzles weren't challenging enough to bring satisfaction upon completion. Also, this game has little to no story. People might tell you that it's just very subtle (which is true) and that there is a lot of depth to it (I don't think so). Sure, some intriguing things happened here and there but nothing was ever really "explained" (not even visually) and it felt very unfulfilling overall. I'll try to read up on it and find out more but this is about the game itself and not its supporting literature *) admittedly it was the movement that felt clunky and not the two buttons

I have not played the original or any of the others in the "series", so I don't know whether it is better or worse than those. However, this game can certainly stand on its own. Apart from RPG, there is not really a single genre this game belongs to, but somehow many of them. Sometimes it's your standard action JRPG, suddenly you're in a text adventure, an hour later you find yourself in an isometric dungeon or in a bullet-hell boss-fight that feels like a sci-fi Dark Souls (although without the difficulty). There are some minor things I did not like here; platforming is horrible (luckily there is hardly any) and approximately 90% of the side-quests require you to collect X amount of Y and deliver it to somebody. I'm not the biggest fan of fetch-quests so I skipped most of those that seemed grindy. The story however is incredible. Trying to describe it without any spoilers or weird word-acrobatics would not do it justice. It would also seem rather average if any additional endings were ignored (there are a total of 5, becoming accessible with each NG+), since they contain the biggest chunk of information about what's going on. (Which is not for everybody, although each NG+ cycle shouldn't take more than 5-6 hours) I also cannot stress enough how much I liked the music. It often felt like a mixture of anime-theme and Dark Souls boss music, however without being as frantic or symphonic. I never got sick of any track and was almost constantly humming along. All in all it's just a big load of fun (gameplay-wise) and a lot of mind blowing (story-wise), which is just about what I love most about these kind of games (not that there are many like this one out there...). You can easily enjoy it without playing Nier: Automata or any of the Drakengards (which is what I did, but hell if I won't play Automata in the near future). I also did not encounter a single bug or anything that seemed unintended. Loading times where a little too long though, and many loading-screens seemed unnecessary with today's hardware.

This. This game. It's one of the best I've ever played. The characters, the emotions, the story, the world, the fanservice... it's pretty much all there. Now, I've played the predecessor about 4 months back so I am a bit biased but I think you can very well enjoy it without having any prior experience with Red Dead. The obvious out of the way: this game is gorgeous. I played it on Xbox One S, which is not exactly a power-house, and it ran pretty well. Sure, a few frame-drops here and there. Texture pop-ins, too (mostly in the end-game), but far too little that it could bring down the score. Here and there the facade might break a bit, especially in first-person (which is included out of the box), but otherwise it is easily the most immersive 3rd-person game I've come across. The characters are great and very lovable (and, very often, very despisable) and quite well written. You'll know almost all of their names by the end (and there are some 30 or 40 important chars), especially since the main story itself is pretty long. Their interactions and emotions toward each other can be felt strongly and one loves and hates with them along the journey. Media focused on the realism this game provides from the start but I found it perfect. It is a slow game overall and some mechanics might need some getting used to. But it isn't nearly as realistic as many would want you to believe. Sure, every once in a while you've gotta eat, same as your horse. But you'll always have enough provisions and the penalty for not doing so is pretty minor. Most other things come quite natural and are not too heavily relied on by the game's mechanics or gameplay. The only (big) thing I did NOT like here were the controls... It is known by many as the nemesis of Rockstar and this game is no different. I'm all for a realistic approach and having a slower character does not bother me too much. However, shooting behind cover, indoors, or with a Machete-wielding lunatic some feet away from you, can become very annoying to deal with. There is a lot to tweak in the game-settings but it never really felt sufficient. This, however, has been a problem since the first game came out and, by now, I've lost all hope for a "perfect" implementation by Rockstar. COMPARED TO RDR1: If you've not played Red Dead Redemption, this section is of no use to you. If you have, here are some things that stood out to me, compared to the first game. Riding: Riding was pretty much perfect in RDR. I found the tank-controls to work great, and the audio-visual feedback was on the brink of perfection. They ditched that. Don't get me wrong, the riding in RDR2 is still very good. The horses feel heavier and they added maneuvers to make them more agile. It certainly has more realism to it, but a mix of the two might have been a better choice (just my opinion though). Tank-controls + more maneuvers + weighty horses = perfect? As it stands, though, RDR will remain the best riding game for me (for now). Duelling: Oh well, duelling is anything but fun in this game. The first one had you move your hand to your weapon, pull it out, and log-in your targets. The second one has you pull the trigger... slowly. But it's not really more than that, with a bit of aiming at the end to get off the killing shot. At the same time, you have to focus on your opponent, while watching the "pull-the-trigger-slowly"-meter in the bottom right corner. The bigger your monitor, the more cumbersome it is. Again: there's a tad more realism here, as you don't get the opportunity to get 6 targets in at once, but the "pulling-the-trigger-slowly" mechanic was very annoying and absolutely no fun. Luckily, there aren't that many duels here, so it's not too big of a deal. A mix of both mechanics would have been better, though (again). Fishing (and a bit of swimming): Well, there wasn't anything in RDR. There is now. Have fun :) Hunting: In RDR, you manly had your region and maybe a certain spawn-point to hunt specific animals. RDR2 gives you the chance to actually track down your prey. Similarly to the "witcher-vision" in Witcher 3, you can discover clues with your Dead-Eye-vision, making it possible to search and find (legendary) animals in a more immersive way. Story: Honestly, I found the story in RDR to be just about enough. It's not bad, but also not great. It suffices and does not overstay it's welcome (it's not that long, really). Would probably make a good movie-series though, i guess. RDR2 dumps that and presents a pretty big amount of story missions, intrigue, friendship, family, etc. It's just really, really good. I'm not sure if it's perfect, but certainly great. It's an awesome prequel and if you liked RDR, you'll most likely enjoy what's offered here.

(PTDE review) One of the best games I've ever played. It's not for everyone, but everyone should have tried it once in their life. It's certainly hard, but not unfair. Lack of polish in late-game and obvious development constraints keep it from a full score. Also, if you get frustrated quickly and don't like to find the path for yourself, you will not enjoy it as much.

Probably one of the most overrated games of all time. I would recommend for everyone to never play this game ever. It's poorly designed and has no substance whatsoever. The devs clearly never touched it and neither should you.

I would've loved to give this game a 7 or maybe even an 8 but there's just too much wrong here. Let's start with the good stuff though: - the world: certainly in the center of the game and its main attraction. It's absolutely huge and looks stunning. Visually really among the best in the genre, both at night and day. - that's basically it for me... but the world really is f*cking awsome the neutral: - story: Many points and turns make no sense. While the general concept is actually not bad, its execution is lacking. As an origin-story for the Creed however, it feels fitting. - mounts: camels and horses feel alright. The controls are as basic as they come and could've been infinitely better if just inspired by RDR. They also move way too slow - ships: while it's nice to have back sea-battles, they just don't feel that great. They are pretty much insignificant for the story and don't control nearly as well as in Black Flag - RPG-mechanics: while I'm a friend of leveling and skill-trees (and this one is pretty good, I think), it's not well implemented here. The focus on numbers is much too great and fights do not depend on your skills with this messy combat-system as much as on whether your enemy has a higher level than you (could've as well been round-based, to go into the extreme here). The story-missions also force you to grind with side-missions. This wouldn't be a problem if 80% of them weren't actually as bland as they are the bad: - characters: while Bayek is based on an alright concept and his motives are mostly clear, he simply seems pretty stupid. Time and time again he proves to people that it's not the gods punishing them but some human, while he himself doesn't seem to grasp the same point in his motivations. Aya, while as a character not much better than Bayek, was not as annoying. Her gameplay passages however felt unnecessary and forced. Other characters are mostly not worth talking about. - animations & dialogue: something I can somewhat forgive in a game of such scope. Facial animations are basically nonexistent except for cut-scenes. Dialogues often seem obsolete and stupid, tying in with the relatively senseless story. - combat: praised by many and certainly a step in the right direction. While I personally enjoyed the earlier AC combat, it really did get old with time and this feels much more engaging. The execution is terrible though imo... essential mechanics such as dodging, blocking or shooting are insanely inconsistent. Dodging does not get you out of reach, no, the enemy will just turn mid-air and hit you anyway. What's the point of dodging then? The worst however are the combo- and animation-locks. Bayek does not move resposive enough and once in an enemy-combo, you might just stop the fight altogether... this felt most frustrating in the second to last boss-fight (won't give any spoilers here), where only very short time-frames were given to hit the enemy. With every further hour of playtime I'll probably come up with more points why the combat is insufficient but I think the point is made TL;DR: All in all a good Assassin's Creed but not a very good RPG (or game in general?). The world is amazing and the AC-feel is there. However, frustrating lack of polish with combat and everything surrounding the story can make it a chore to play.

Nice to finally have a campaign. Too bad it's garbage. Characters are bland and the story is boring while making little to no sense itself. Resurrection is a nice idea, though it's way to short and has the same problems as the main campaign. Collectibles are alright. Gameplay is decent. The obvious focus however is the multiplayer. Sadly, EA didn't learn from the first game (what a surprise!) and did not improve on server stability or matchmaking. If you're lucky, the game is loads of fun. If not, well, too bad. This game is basically just another example of why EA won't get my money until they change their approach to games (got this one for free)

This game does everything it sets out to do perfectly. It won't get easier over time, but you'll get better! The game's tight controls and unforgiving gameplay make it seem like no fun at first. But once you catch on and feel the first spark of motivation, there is no rest until you beat the level (and start the next one, of course). There is so much to do and some things seem impossible at first but it is all doable with enough practice. Few things beat the satisfaction of beating a level after over an hour of tries (and seeing your past failures all at once). The developers put a lot of their love of platforming, "motivational punishment" and gaming in general into SMB and it's always a treat to fire it up just to go 30 min on a single level (which there are more than 100 of - twice - with collectibles all over)

I liked DX better (would've given that one a 10 if I could) but this is a solid Remake Pros: - probably the best looking game on Switch - many quality of life improvements compared to DX - great sondtrack - short game but the memories will stay - nice collectibles Cons: - a little too easy on default difficulty (Hero mode is accessible from the start though) - performance issues (Switch is 5 years behind with technology) - 8-directional movement -> you CANNOT play with the D-pad - not worth the full price, maye 25-30 bucks Play it if you can get it on discount. Otherwise, get DX on 3DS for 5,99. Despite it being a Gameboy Color game, it will always be a timeless gem to me and is worth every penny twice.

basically the same strengths and problems of the GTAs of the time. - poor controls - mediocre/okay story (although fitting of wild-west movies) - great gameplay (especially riding and driving) - perfect open world - short but pretty good side missions - fun collectibles if it weren't for the controls and the story this game would easily be a 9 but I got pulled out of the bit of immersion way too often and easily. Definitely play it. It's a classic at this point and a must play. Also not too long with its 17h of main story and at least as much of extra content if not more. also: Horse-back riding is for this game what ship-'driving' was for Assassin's Creed IV: Essential for immersion and masterfully implemented. You could just ride from one end of the map to the other and it would probably feel great

quite a fun shoot-'em-up/twin-stick that you don't really need to play. It's done in about 2-3 hours and doesn't offer much of a story. Gameplay is decently fun though and the map- and art-design are pretty good. If you loved those flash-games where you just kill everything that moves, I'd recommend you give Postal a try. Otherwise, you should maybe pass on this one.

A very solid RPG which got way too little polish and was obviously rushed. Storytelling, voice-acting and side-missions are top-league. The first person view even takes Witcher 3 out in terms of immersion. Maybe too few choices in the main story (except for the last 3 hours or so) but this game excels with it's side missions and extra story-lines (basically four parallel 'main'-stories in addition to the actual main-story) and gives you many liberties to chose which path you'll tread. The only negatives I see would be kinda boring gameplay. You absolutely have the choice to do everything stealth/hacking or without killing anybody or just shooting everything up. But in the end it never really matters and it's fairly easy. Also from a technical standpoint it is (at this time) far from finished and needs a lot of work still. Play it a few months after release and you'll (hopefully) find an exceptional game. Just don't watch any trailers of set expectations

EA should stop producing these like McDonalds produces Burgers and start to think about quality. This game has SO many problems and 99% of them are brought over from previous titles. Why? Because why make a new game when the old sold well. Just swap that 0 with a 1. Whoever works on these games and whoever buys them (I got it for free) should really be ashamed. You're a huge part of the problem. I don't care about EA's management anymore because those people don't deserve a penny of what they're making anyways. #boycottEA and stop the industry from going to **** (even further)

it's just Nintendo ripping off their customers again. Sure it's nice to have those games on Switch but the little bits of effort they made do not justify that price by any means. (Camera-) Controls are still horrible and why they didn't even think of supporting the GameCube-Controller for Sunshine is beyond me. After all again a nostalgia/fanboy product that keeps Nintendo from disappearing completely

While it looks the best, it is far from being the best Mario Kart. The content is lacking (battle mode?) and the physics might be the worst yet (seriously completely useless engine that would kill any other franchise but because it's Mario Kart it doesn't matter...) For playing with friends, I would easily pick Mario Kart DS or Wii over this one. While both have their problems, they seem to be a lot better engineered while 8 Deluxe feels rushed and superficial. Online is okay for what it is (the nintendo-switch-online service sadly is really bad but that's not the game's fault) but there are way too few options to customize a game or to set the maps. Playing with friends is annoying as hell for they just do not give a damn about online play at nintendo. It is overall really sad to see Nintendo becoming this very distanced company in regard to long-time fans and general communication. I really hope they get to feel some sort of punishment in coming years but I doubt it.

graphics isn't everything luckily I got this game for free. Otherwise I'd feel really ripped off. Pros: - really great graphics - It's fun for a while - Every mode has it's strengths and the feeling of speed really delivers - The snow "feels" great. Generally driving physis are very nice - good feeling when landing a "difficult" trick perfectly Cons: - Online required - Half the game is behind a DLC-paywall. Very often that only shows when being redirected to the store. BIG NO NO - It's fun for a while but doing the same over and over again gets boring after about five hours - Controls can be very unresponsive at times. Gets really frustrating when driving down a 5 min course only to be resetted at the end because your character crashes for no reason - the g-force stuff seems very random and often doesn't make any sense - the game cannot decide whether to be realistic or not. It's trapped in a valley that just isn't right (for me) - only very little content for the full price (which dropped quite a bit from release) - very bad camera. First-person is even worse and doesn't resemble snowboarding in the slightest (havent tried skiing but can't imagine it being much better) - Controls are a pain in the a**. Especially for the wing-suit - HUD is not great. Especially when someone is driving in front of you and you can't see **** because the "add to party"-button covers the way - Map is other-worldy bad. Very very slow with controller and the buttons don't do what they're supposedd to - Everything -- and I mean EVERYTHING -- is inconvenient. The menus, the map, the HUD, the controls, online play...... it could've been so much better if anyone just cared at ubisoft... all in all just frustrating and not recommended
