Final Fantasy XV7

An overall positive experience with some fundamental issues. I really enjoyed the story, characters, visuals, and overall gameplay. The controls are lacking and take away from the experience at times. Some features especially around the driving mechanic were frustrating and hard to get used to. The EXP system and hotel integration was really strange and unfortunately left me intentionally skipping certain things I would have liked to try in order to maximize EXP gains. The characters were very well made, and very reliable - no complaints on this. The basic combat system was fun but some of the finer details like Summons, special weapons, etc felt rushed and poorly implemented.

This was an interesting experience, but it is not for me. It was a very short arcadey experience with very interesting visuals and music. I could see this game really hitting hard for some people, but it did not for me. Also be advised that this is a very short experience and as such I do not recommend buying a physical copy like I did as you will not get your money's worth unless you play it several times. This game felt like an interactive music video, and I give the devs credit for trying something different.

2020 Game of the year in my opinion. The visuals of this game were absolutely stunning, the landscapes and world were very realistic and immersive. The combat system and use of stances was exciting taking it a step above the systems we see in most games now. The story was deep and intriguing despite being fairly slow at time. The main characters are very relatable and have realism to them, but some of the supporting characters are more or less forgettable. the open world features are fun and quick experience and I never found them to overstay their welcome which is a problem I have with many modern open world games. I highly recommend this game.

Assassin's Creed6

Game had many groundbreaking features but did not age well. The gameplay is super repetitive and the controls are frustrating and tedious. The way that you unlucky your gear and abilities is also strange and immersion ruining. The combat is also ridiculous in the way it is repetitive and easy once you figure it out but also incredibly frustrating based on poor controls. I recommend playing a later game in the series and leaving this one in the past.

I played this game in co-op mode and it was a fun experience. It was a fun, charming, short experience. If I had played this game solo I probably would not have enjoyed it nearly as much as I did. The story was uninteresting and the gameplay was mediocre. The co-op multiplayer features is really what made this game what it is!

Final Fantasy VII Remake8
Jan 3, 2021
I really enjoyed this remake. Square did a great job capturing the feel of the original FF7 and expanding upon the world. I know some people are upset that the entire story of the original is not included in the remake, but this is a full story and did not leave me feeling like anything was missing. The new combat system was much different than the original and took some getting used to, but fun nonetheless. I found the side quests to be one major drawback for me, they were boring and lifeless and broke my immersion at times. The soundtrack was fantastic and really tied everything together. Highly recommend for any RPG fan!

Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection7
Jan 3, 2021
This is a convenient way to go back and play some of the older Assassin's Creed games. Ubisoft unfortunately milked this character and storyline too long to the point I just wanted it to end. The gameplay in Brotherhood was the best of the 3 by far. AC2 did not age nearly as well, and is somewhat painful to get through. If you can pick this up cheap enough it is worth it for Brotherhood alone.

Resident Evil 29
Jan 3, 2021
Very fun game! The visuals and gameplay were fantastic, and the world was very immersive. The story was fairly generic and lackluster, but I imagine it was made to be the same or similar to the original which I have not played. Prepare yourself for a scary horror experience complete with jump scares - and do not pick this game up if you are not in to that! Capcom did a great job with this, and set the bar high!

Assassin's Creed III Remastered4

Game was playable but boring and lackluster. Open world felt dead and the characters were generic. I was excited for the North American setting of this game but was disappointed. Found myself just waiting for the game to end. Do not recommend.

Resident Evil 36

This game is a really fun experience. The visuals are great and the gameplay is very immersive. Unfortunately Capcom decided to charge full price for this game despite it being an experience that only lasts a few hours. If this game was released not as a full price standalone game but a $30 DLC for RE2 I would be much more likely to recommend it, but unfortunately I cannot based on these decisions by Capcom. Play this game, but only if you can get it on a very deep sale!

Assassin's Creed Syndicate7

Game played fun but lacked anything exceptional. Story was fairly boring and the open world features were fatiguing. Not a bad game if you skip all the repetitive extras and rush right to the end, but otherwise you will note yourself. Still a step up from Unity!!

Assassin's Creed Origins8

Easily my favorite Assassin's Creed game (although I have not yet played Valhalla). I loved the new combat style, and I found the storytelling and characters much more interesting than in Odyssey. The environments and landmarks are breathtaking and fun to explore. The open-world features and side quests are somewhat fatiguing, but the main storyline more than made up for it.

Assassin's Creed: The Rebel Collection7

Both games were quite good. I was not a huge fan of the sailing sequences in the Assassin's Creed games and unfortunately these games are VERY heavy on the sailing. The stealth and combat was a lot of fun. Also some of the best storytelling in the series.

I played this game in 2020, apparently it was optimistic of me to assume Ubisoft had ironed the kinks out of this game by now as I still faced countless bugs, glitches, and crashes. The story in this game was completely boring and the characters lacked anything memorable. My least favorite game in the series, cannot recommend.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales7
Dec 30, 2020
Game was fun, but I expected more. I really enjoyed the original Spider-Man game and this was more of the same. I had expected a major step up from the first game, especially considering the console generation jump but this game failed to utilize the features of the PS5 in any memorable way. I had also hoped for a longer experience, this game was very short and given the price of this game, although not a full-priced game still felt as though I did not get my money's worth. If you liked the first game, you will like this one too, but do not expect anything different, and wait for a sale!

Assassin's Creed Odyssey7
Dec 30, 2020
Game wasn't bad, but not the experience I was hoping for. I found the story to be boring and drawn out, and an unfortunate step down from Assassin's Creed Origins. The gameplay and combat systems were good and fun to play. The NPC level scaling left me feeling like all the side quests I was putting time in to were pointless ass grinding also increased the level of all of the enemies. The boss fights in the game were a lot of fun and the absolute highlight for me. Game took about 60 hours to complete and unfortunately overstayed it's welcome

Astro's Playroom9

A great job turning what is technically a Tech Demo into a very fun game! The utilisation of the DualSense is revolutionary, and is really what makes this game what it is. A shorter charming experience. Game was designed to be very user friendly, making going back for all of the collectables actually fun rather than tedious and chore-like. Tons of callbacks to PlayStation history really plays to your nostalgia. Highly recommended, a must play for ps5 owners.

Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring The Legend of Zelda9
Dec 29, 2020
Great spin on a classic franchise! This is a fairly short experience at about 5 hours. I am not usually in to rhythm games but the way the rhythm elements mixed with elements of action-adventure and rogue-like genres really had me hooked! The soundtrack is phenomenal: remixed classic Legend of Zelda tracks that really immerse you in the action. I found this to be unlike anything else I have played and highly recommend it for any Zelda fan, or anyone looking for a shorter but fun experience.

Cyberpunk 20773
Dec 29, 2020
A game with a ton of potential but unfortunately hindered by its blaring technical issues. I am not normally a fan of FPS games but the shooting gameplay of Cyberpunk is fantastic, with options for fast paced run-gunning, cover based shooting, or stealth takedowns. The story of the game was compelling enough to keep interest, but not enough to push me to spend a great deal of time exploring the world. The main issue with this game is unfortunately the instability. I played this game on the PS5, and still received about 1 or 2 crashes per hour. This was coupled with numerous glitches that left me falling through the floor, stuck in invisible walls, my weapons disappearing, and being unable to progress in the story. At this time I cannot recommend the game, but if future patches come through and fix the technical issues it may be worth the play.
