It's just great overall, not really any major bad things I could say about it. It was a huge improvement from the previous digimon story games and they fixed a lot of the issues people had had with them. Game mechanics are really nice and refined, the selection of digimon is also good since there is a lot of them in the game. I wish some of the newer ones were included, but this game started development before they were a thing so i can't really complain. The game was well phased, as in like especially in the beginning you couldn't overlevel or anything since you just couldn't gain exp nor get evolutions until you progressed in the story or worked for it, that i really liked. Also I like that the bosses were long fights since it offered challenge and forced you to actually get your item management and skills together, not just spam one thing. Story well I cried a couple of times, is it a habit with the digimon story games to keep pulling your heartstrings? I don't think i can even talk about the story without spoiling everything but like it hits kind of like hacker's memory but just so much more painful. I also like that this game is okay for people not familiar with digimon, as in like easy to get into even without knowing about it I'll rewrite this in depth once i finish replaying this so i can get the full experience now that im more familiar with the story.

I would describe this as a very immersive card game that's quite different from the usual bunch. The game is divided into multiple main chunks, which are all very different from each other, I won't go into details here to not spoil anyone, but when you think you've beaten the game you just really haven't. Generally speaking, you'll get surprisingly attached to the characters and really immersed into whatever is going on. The card game itself is also good, once you beat the game you'll get access to ridiculously difficult challenges, whatever you prefer, this game really just has it all. Complaints? Not that many really, just the amount of back and forth you have to do with it, but that's not really a big issue

Just in general a fantastic game filled with lots of exploration, lore and challenging battles. My only complaint is the learning curve for new players, figuring this stuff out without having played other soul-like games is well difficult. There really is so much stuff to explore, when you think you're done you're just really not, and then there's the underground section, you won't run out of things to do with this game. As you play you won't get the full story of well anything, you're left with lil clues you're meant to piece together, so it's a really cool way of delivering the story to the player. The player here is really just solving family drama through the entire game, that's the plot, but it is very interesting. You're encouraged to try different builds with bosses or outright come back to them later, the game forces you to learn so you won't be brute forcing your way through the bosses.

For it's time, this game was really great, especially considering what other games this one spawned. Plenty of areas to explore and monsters to find and battle. The battle system, in my opinion, is not the greatest since its more about figuring out what you should likely gamble on. Side quests could have been a bit more creative than "Find this material, battle this monster or bring certain types of eggs". Since this game is old, I'm in fact going to praise it for it's areas and mechanics, it is a 3ds game and it was an absolute blast on said console. The story, well it was mediocre, but it did focus on characters a lot more and that was enjoyable. If you want to play something that's basically the same thing but better then just play monster hunter stories 2. Or for that matter play the other monster hunter games, while they aren't similar they're definitely an upgrade and a lot of fun

This is not worth the price, absolutely not. Let's be honest if it weren't a pokemon game people would not even pay 30 euros for this. The game should not be looking like its 15 years behind, calling it a ps2 or a mobile game would be a disservice to them. It is a very lazy thing to have a game based in a city where the buildings aren't great and you can't even access any of them. The areas are mostly the same and uncreative, you would expect there to be a huge underground area but it turns out that's not the case. The problem isn't that it takes place in a city, the problem is the lack of content and things to do in it. About the new combat system and stuff, the idea is alright but the execution is kind of bad. You end up spamming buttons and that takes away most of what made the previous games special with all of the special strategies. You'll also end up with issue regarding targeting enemies, pokemon getting stuck and pokemon having to run back to you constantly, that makes the gameplay not great. There also aren't challenging fights in the game, most of them are too easy and if you have any mega you'll just obliterate anything really, its not balanced. The challenges also lack in variety, most of them are the same few things repeated over and over again, it gets stale. Tutorial keeps going on and on, even kids aren't incompetent enough to need a tutorial that long. Mostly meaningless dialogue with a plot lacking in depth. This is all without talking about the issues with the company releasing these games, very greedy bunch. Would not recommend this, if you want to not waste your money and still play monstertaming games then there are other alternatives, don't waste your time and money on this slop.
