Very intelligent premise , but far too intelligent for 'Meurican television used to "mindless crap" as our protagonist once asserts. Indeed, since there is only one human protagonist (the 11 others are surprisingly dumb cartoonish versions of humans - something Gilligan never stooped down to do ) left, the only interesting aspect of these musings would have been a soliloquy and/or a psychological depiction of our protagonist train of thoughts, fears, etc...something only the WRITTEN word can deliver (as in the book that protagonist was said to be working on) And there is only so much "resting **** face" Seehorn can muster to try to represent what's going in her head. Indeed all the fillings needed to advance the meager plot (the action of the hive mind) are as interesting as watching the workings an Amazon warehouse or a Ford assembly plant. Or...maybe it is a satire: the satire is on all of TV viewers: We are the morons, we are the hive mind that is fed "mindless crap"like this show, so that its writer, in this case Gilligan, canuse the money to write a real book. A bit like the ever repeating boxing scene in Twin Peaks season 3? Or Last year in Marienbad?

American television is digging deep, trying to reach the roots of inanity and wrapping it with a glossy package of second-rate actors, tired tropes and one-liner dialogues that would make afternoon soaps blush. However, more concerning is the fact that the show runners try to hook you with a very well crafted first episode. It's a con to get you addicted and not let go until a very very deeply unsatisfying pay-off. Don't let them win. Don't watch, just read the wikipedia page.

Watched a grand total of 9 minutes at 1.5x speed (as usual for Netflix fare). It is a very inferior and poor form of British humour where self-deprecation belies self-importance and self-satisfaction and impudence is mistaken for sagacity. Not everyone can be a Black Adder. But everyone can make a fool of him- or herself.

tried it after the hype it **** first episode was disappointing to say the least. The writing is very lazy for a HBO series, relying on boring tropes and mob clichés, as well as simplistic, ahem cartoonish (maybe that's the point?), character depictions. Farrell is unbearable, overacting, just like in his worst films. Was it written by AI?

HORRIBLE: the extremely badly written weekday afternoon soap opera around the dalliances, "romances" and "realtionships" BAD: the too hastily/easily settled/preposterous side-quests (Scanlan, Percy etc). The one in Hell was particularly unscarry, unimaginative and sloppy. Even the necessary knee-bending to the woke religion was not nearly as annoying. GOOD: the light-hearted humour, the Boss battle and one villain's arc Overall: a very marked drop in quality

Usual Netflix letdown. I was expecting a witty, tongue-in-cheek satire, and we have extremly lazy cultural asides (Olympus/Xanadu, Spartan cereals, Trojan terrorists...) that seemed to have been written by 13 year olds. Money grab by Goldblum playing himself more than ever. Lazy character depiction of Dionysus and Hera. And Eurydice's character is insufferable. It improves once we move to Hades but not much

However, the atrocious acting and dialogues, the pitiful lack of effort in decor and make up makes this show unwatchable after 5 minutes (where we see Daryl going in Les Baux de Provence and what looks like Sète). It is, first, a public service, not just your average socio-economical documentary . But even better is its main character, the closest thing to a modern holy fool, living a fascinating paradoxical existence. It is really a case of life surpassing art, not just imitating it. And that justifies the existence of this program alone. My only issue with the program is the tedious and repetitive description of the scamming system as if we needed to go in all the nitty gritty details of this epic Quixotic quest to prove its reality.

There are still some jokes that may be far too lazy, but 30 years later this show has mastered almost a very -let's be clichéd for a second- "zen" way of creating beauty with void: Indeed, it is when the action stops, where the animation is frozen, when the silence takes over that the pause reveal the very some utterly true but crooked moments of hilarity in our human condition. And it's balanced with the acerbic obliteration of the pop-music acts of this stupid generation or inane youtube videos. Thank you Mike Judge!

Great premise at last on a more mature discussion on faith and religion in the face of total adversity. It could have been a great opportunity to compare how faith and religion were upended when Europe survived the Black Plague or, closer to us, cholera epidemics in the late 1800. But it is ultimately wasted on a oversimplistic, bestial resolution and complete "character assassination" of the main protagonist (the faith leader). Zik, zak, boom, boom...Action, action for little children. It just exemplify that this is a very very narrow-minded little show, well, that is meant for a similar audience
