Backrooms2
May 29, 2026
The movie starts very slow. "Fine" you think it must be building the characters and plotline. When it finally starts to get interesting it throws an unnecessary curve trying to be "edgy". You'll know it when you see it and ask yourself "why?". OK, so you get by this major distraction which is only loosely connected to the backrooms history and are now focused on a different character that you REALLY don't care about. When you finally get to another point where the film could finally get really interesting and connected to the lore, the film ends without a real ending. The film tries too hard to be deep or mental, but misses the point entirely. Think you know what the film will be like by watching the videos and playing the games? Probably not. I was excited by the trailers and the strong actor in it. Nope. Save your money. It's a dud masquerading as a deep, emotional and mental health movie. Have you ever been in a backrooms level where it walks around forever but never shows you much? Just like it. Very let down and disappointed by this film. Worse than any youTube video you might have seen. Feels like it gives you the middle finger at the end. Possibly setting up for a sequel money grab? Fool me once shame on you ...

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu7
May 23, 2026
I really want to rate this one higher. It started very strong. I think the lack of a dynamic plot and the character building for Grogu in the middle kind of killed it. I see what they were doing there. The ending was appropriate, but nothing special. Blue leader was a bit of a let down to be honest. Very predictable. Did the film actually have a plot? I guess so. There were no twists in the film. Great effects. Few droids. Robots yes, but nothing interesting. This is the kind of film that will win many awards as the quality of films in the theaters lately has been lacking. Should it win an award for writing? No. It was worth seeing, and well done - just like the series was well done. I did enjoy it. Could this have been a episode or two in the series? Probably.

Mortal Kombat II4
May 9, 2026
Most of this movie will be forgotten by tomorrow. Barely watchable only because there have been very few good movies at the theaters lately. The cop-out at the very end is lame. I won't reveal it, but it conveniently solves all the problems with the tournament. The music was weak and the famous Mortal Kombat song is only in the closing credits. I'll probably remember more from the first movie.

Project Hail Mary7
Mar 27, 2026
7 seems generous, but it was a generally favorable movie. It's not the kind of movie that you'll ever watch more than once. I'm sure it will get a lot of awards. The science is bad. The ship design is flawed leading to a huge plot point, but the movie never says why. There are limitations to what the alien can see, but that's quickly forgotten about. I thought the second extended ending (you'll see what I mean) was unnecessary. It's a watchable movie and the buddy-buddy mostly works. There are a few forced comedy events that I rolled my eyes at but these were quick and over with. So that's good. I generally think that the movie is way too over-rated, but there hasn't been many solid movies at the theaters lately so it was good timing.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die3
Feb 14, 2026
I can't recommend this movie. It can't decide what it wants to be: edgy, funny, weird, etc. but it fails at all of these. Many parts of it are dull to be honest. It's the type of movie that you sit watching saying "Oh here's where it is going to start getting good", but then it's not good. It's not futuristic. It's barely sci-fi. The actors have so very little to work with in this. I would call the overall movie weak. You watch it giving it the benefit of the doubt for over an hour, but it never gets there. You hope it does. You expect that maybe it will. It's almost lazy. It's hard to put into words. It's way over-rated. I went in not knowing what to expect and left disappointed. Walked out before the very lame ending was finished.

We Bury the Dead3
Jan 3, 2026
It's not a zombie thriller. What does that leave us? Do we get interesting characters with compelling back stories? No. The back stories are at best a 2 out of 10. The movie tries to wrap everything up at the very end into a deep metaphysical experience. Does it achieve this? No. The entire movie was unmoving and a little dull to be honest. Did the writers end on a big, meaningful, secret, unexpected ending? No. By that point, the viewer doesn't care. I didn't walk out of the film, but I thought about it. Even though this is a 2026 movie, I'll lump it in with all the other trash from 2025. Here's hoping the year gets better.

The Running Man6

Thought it was good. It does seem to fill in some plot holes with characters who want to help him and have the resources to help him (four or five times). Though I guess you need to do something in a movie.

The Long Walk6

The book was better. There's a few liberties and subtractions when making the movie, but it's watchable. I wasn't a big fan of the casting for the major, but it was ok.

I'd say it's a good filler movie. The lead actor was good and there were a few good ideas.

Primitive War2
Aug 26, 2025
Not much to see here. The acting by the soldiers was shallow, stereotypical and over the top. Every forced war movie trope, but worse. The actress couldn't act to save her life or fake a Russian accent.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps8
Jul 29, 2025
Generally well done. I was put at ease when at the start of the movie it mentioned the name of Earth. At that point, it makes anything acceptable. It was fun that it was a subtle period piece

28 Years Later1
Jun 21, 2025
This movie is total trash and completely worthless. I almost rated this a zero. Avoid this movie. Imagine a weak main character on a quest that you don't care about. Without going into spoilers, it's a story that a child could have written. There are no effects. The monsters are minor and add nothing to the storyline. The main character, at best, is an annoying secondary character. The secondary characters are lame and serve almost no purpose. This movie has no story, no plot, no monsters, no effects, no purpose, no creativity, etc. There are overlapping minor elements in the movie and the last 5 minutes are probably trying to setup a sequel or TV show but the movie doesn't go into it. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this waste of time.

The Phoenician Scheme0
Jun 14, 2025
That was the worst thing I've ever seen. Plot = dull. Visually appealing = no. Casting = wrong. Acting = bad. Creativity = none. Zaniness = missing. Photography = amateurish. Sets = boring. Costumes = boring. Enjoyment level = worst. One of those rare movies I would rate a minus one (-1) if I could.

Ballerina4
Jun 7, 2025
In this unnecessary spinoff of the John Wick universe, there really isn't much here. The movie tries to make the plot important. Even the John Wick cameo doesn't make you care about anyone. It gets a bit boring. A few small parts are watchable, but it gets monotonous toward the end. By the way, another comment here said the best acting part was 5 minutes after the end credits, but there is no end credits scene. Joke is on me.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies5
May 6, 2025
As far as a period piece goes then it is good. I felt the zombie side of things was under-used and secondary. I enjoyed the women characters being trained, but still also felt that this was a very minor plot point. Meh. It's a period piece disguised as a zombie movie. It's not a zombie movie. Thought it was well done, but not really enough to hold my interest.

A Minecraft Movie4
Apr 21, 2025
Better than I thought, but I was going in with a very low bar. The good thing is that you get a break from Jack Black at times during the film. I don't hate him as an actor, but the last decade (or two) I can really only stand him in smaller chunks. Mamoa is good. The other 3 major side actors could have been filmed by anyone but they still did a good job. The movie is a filler movie. We went on Easter because everywhere else was closed and there weren't many good movie options in the cinema. A 4 rating is generous for the flick, but it was watchable.

The Electric State7
Mar 18, 2025
Overall I thought the movie and robots were entertaining. Admittedly, however, I've never read the source material. I also must admit that the plot with her brother felt a bit weak and the ending was a bit weak too. 7 is a bit generous, but I think a 5 or 6 isn't quite right. It's not exactly something that will surprise you, but it's definitely watchable. I liked it.

Black Bag4
Mar 15, 2025
This one is a "meh". It's ok I guess, but the acting is so bland that it's mind-numbingly tedious. It's like every character is overacting by underacting. I suppose it is to make it suspenseful, but it's not. I didn't care for any of the characters and I didn't find anything particularly clever. If you are looking for a thriller this isn't it. If you are looking for action this isn't it. If you are looking for intelligently written then this isn't it.

In the Lost Lands1
Mar 8, 2025
Yeah it's pretty boring and worthless. Even going into this movie expecting a clunker it wasn't even a diversion. The entire movie is filmed to wash down the colors. There's very little storyline. You go in and expect the worst hoping for something marginally entertaining for an hour or two, but you just don't get it. Many parts of the movie seem just stuck in there. There are a few "come on now" or "yeah that's stupid" moments. I won't spoil it for you if you are ever forced to watch this (maybe you lost a bet), but at one point there's no way the heroes can have horses again, but do. Keep an eye out for this. Just pass on this one.

My Dead Friend Zoe8

Very pleasantly surprised by this subtle movie. I've not been a big fan of Sonequa Martin-Green in the past. I never hated her, but I could go either way on her TV show. I've been middle of the road with her past work. Anyway, she really stepped it up for this movie. Great job Sonequa! Ed Harris was very good. Also Legion M also stepped it up. I think it is a Legion M film. I'll have to doublecheck. I haven't been a fan of their films either, but this was a great job Legion M. I'm hoping the momentum continues for both Sonequa and Legion M. The film is simple yet very well done. It's a story or stories that have been done before but everything ties together well. I was surprisingly moved a little. I wasn't expecting much. The movie hasn't been advertised much either. I wonder if this was a budget reason or something? There were only a few people in the theater, but it's definitely worth seeing. This is a subtle movie that is going under the radar, but refreshing at a time when so many filler movies are getting all the advertising. Good for adults of any ages. Pleasantly surprised.

I didn't expect it to be good or ground breaking, but I wasn't prepared for how boring and lame it was. Imagine if someone from a cheap network tried to recreate Die Hard without a budget and bad writers. Imagine Sharknado without a tornado and without sharks. That might not be fair because I've never seen Sharknado, but I did see this dull movie. It's not entertaining. It's not even worth having a popcorn with. The dialog is bad. The acting is bad from everyone except perhaps the main actress, but she has absolutely nothing to work with so she's not great either. There's some stupid dialog. There's some actors trying to be over the top. In summary it was boring and needless.

It's pretty much as you would expect. The story is mostly predictable. The main villain and side villain are a bit weak. The assassins are slightly better, but it's a fluff movie. It's a filler movie so don't expect too much but it's better that a lot of other movies out right now. Sean Astin was a solid casting call.

I saw this on youTube for free. I paid too much. I don't know why or how it was on that platform so quickly. I give it a "1" because the film makes you expect more ... somewhere...somehow.... Maybe it's the sets? It wasn't the acting, costumes, effects, makeup or story. Personally, I couldn't finish the film. Eventually you just get tired of waiting for the film to get better. There are fan films out there that seem like Spielberg's work compared to this production.

Sep 15, 2024
I didn't hate it. In a week though I'll have completely forgotten about it. I thought that it as too dark. Don't get me wrong. It can be dark in lots of places, but it felt like no one in the future heard of a lightbulb. Nothing was surprising although the character they find halfway into it is fun. There's no new ground here. It says more about the bad movies being produced lately for the reason why this is sticking around in the theaters. It's better than those. Maybe.

It's generally a good watch don't get me wrong. It just doesn't grab the magic from the first movie. The lighting is off when they are filming. Too bright? Too clear? Beats me. It doesn't match the style of the first movie. Plus the underworld scenes are underwhelming and unimaginative in many places. Parts of the storyline seem convenient and lazy especially for the entire possibilities available to the writers. The musical numbers are completely forced. The movie doesn't add anything to the world building from the first movie. It's a good try at a sequel, but misses the mark. I'm happy that there's a part two. After the first movie I was expecting more.

Better than Afterlife. Still not a fan of mom and dad fighting ghosts. I was amazed by how there was no traffic in New York. Building up the organization was a good start to fun things in the future I hope. I wouldn't exactly say the writing was groundbreaking, but whatever.

This movie insists on itself. The acting is weak and the storyline is quite bad. It's quite over rated. I'm not sure why it was getting acclaim and awards. I suppose it's fashionable to like this movie, but I walked out. It was that bad. I can't recommend this.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania3
Jul 10, 2023
Marvel ruins two villains in this movie: Kang and MODOK. Kang is reduced to a weak crybaby and MODOK is an idea gone wrong. I suppose MODOK is comedy relief again. I wish Marvel would stop doing that. I kept telling myself in the movie that this was only one instance of MODOK from the multiverse. Anyway, typical Ant Man fight scenes. More bad writing. I expect better from the MCU. Save your money.

May 9, 2022
I wouldn't believe all those high reviews. The movie is dull. Don't expect it to be historically accurate or have the story to grab you. It won't. The movie also tries and fails to invest a supernatural aspect to the film well except, I guess, for the one scene that was partially stolen from Conan the Barbarian.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent4
Apr 24, 2022
It's definitely not a great movie. It's probably not even a good movie. While the movie is supposed to be full of itself, the movie is full of itself even so. The movie feels like it is either trying too hard or not trying at all. Contradictions make great movies, but not in this case. The script was weak. The acting wasn't exactly strong and the sets weren't very visual. Watch if you are on an airplane, it's free and you have no other choices.

I mean it's good, but not great. There's not much special about it. I guess third times the charm with CatWoman, but still not overly interesting. The last third of the movie could have probably been cut from the film. Gordon and Pennyworth were the only ones who could act. Riddler did well, but they went in a different direction with him. It's the only movie at the theaters right now. It's an OK watch, but be prepared for a movie almost entirely filmed at night and/or the dark. I didn't expect anything ground-breaking so just take it for what it is.

It's no Indiana Jones or National Treasure. I've never played the game, but even I think that the casting could have been better. It seems like you could have put anyone into these hero and villain roles and had the same movie. Forget any hype you may have heard with this movie.
