Best beat 'em up this gen and last and it will take some topping. Graphics are out of this world, smooth and simple gameplay as this genre should be, packed roster, exciting arenas and a very good campaign on top of it all. Crypt isn't up to much and the outfits could be better but overall a great game.

This review is being written amidst a 24hr period whereby the game is literally unplayable. That’s what happens when you impose online only games on players. GT Sport in its infancy displayed the warning signs of where to expect this once loved franchise to head; anti-consumerist greed and outright contempt for the loyal fans. That game was somewhat salvaged a long while later and as things stand, offers a much superior product to this current debacle. How about this for a revolutionary idea? Make a game that is fun to play, not a sinkhole designed to milk nostalgic players of their time and funds.

Good story if not terribly clichéd. The gameplay is where it falls short, becoming a tedious trial and error exercise which ultimately takes much of the sheen off the overall experience.

They do with UFC what they've done with FIFA for decades except instead of marginal improvements this series has regressed. Of course Uncle Dana will keep giving them the license because he's a specialist in promoting worthless talent for big bucks. Obligatory **** EA.

Maybe I got a special version or something but this is literally unplayable on my system. The character will not walk/run/sprint properly at all; it's like playing with a broken controller except my Dualshock is practically brand new and no other games pose an issue using it. I'm really disappointed as finally getting around to playing this game looked promising but it's impossible with this problem.

Hands down the most atmospheric and terrifying gaming experience in existence. Still holds up after all these years and what a treat for Alien fans.

Sniper Elite 45

Aside from vastly superior graphics (which do look nice) this is the same game as Sniper Elite 3. And V2. And 1 let's be honest. Except even some of the standard weapons from those games are now locked behind ridiculous EA-style microtransactions. The levels themselves have decent variety in terms of layout and tactics, but the ending is one of the worst I've seen in a while but it matters not when the 'characters' are about as meaningful as cardboard cutouts. Was worth a playthrough on PS Plus I guess.

This game does not belong on PS4. Broken, clunky, vastly outdated - in fact it's much like Metacritic itself in that regard. Not worth the download.

Hitman 24

I was thrilled with the last instalment, limited as it may have been, but this unfortunately smacked of being a 1.5 version of that game. It's essentially the same game with different maps which don't quite work imo. For instance I enjoy sniping more than other methodical methods of eliminating a target and I can honestly say Grand Theft Auto has better sniping than the current gen Hitman games. Add to this the lack of inventiveness on the popular Elusive Targets, tacked on multiplayer and co-op modes which are less than demos and the cash grab season pass tripe and it all adds up to a lacklustre entry in the series.

Oh look another flop with EAs filthy handmarks all over it. Once Bioware started trying to clone other games beginning with their SWTOR Warcraft rip-off, they were done as a serious developer. Hopefully this is the final nail in their coffin.

You can still get a lot of mileage out of the older games for a fraction of the price; it's still just the same re-skin. Better yet if you want a realistic management sim where actual prizes are at stake, sign up for a Fantasy Football season and get a real taste of it.

Would never have played this without PS Plus dropping it but I was surprised at how good it was; like an old school Ps2 classic with an absolute killer soundtrack. Story-wise it's better than GTA V and the melee combat and stealth are lightyears ahead of that game. But the shooting isn't as good even though some guns are fun. The driving is also sub-par with a lack of variety, but driving around with the brilliant music ensembles definitely makes up for that. Lincoln Clay was a bad mofo with a great backstory and likeable personality. The rest of the cast are pretty decent too. The biggest problem is the dire repetitiveness of the missions.

Typical COD really; one of the best games ever when you're playing well, one of the worst when you ****. Specialists set this one apart and give MP some much needed personality.

For starters the guy on the cover hasn't fought in the UFC for 16 months. Okay don't judge a book by it's cover etc. This is another re-skin with more sluggish and frustrating fighting controls. UFC and Disney need to revoke EAs licence for butchering their products. Oh and obligatory microtransactions alert.

If there's one thing to be learned from this game, it's that humanity doesn't deserve to survive. No, that's not it's message at all but that's how I felt playing it. It's bland. Like really bland. I think the single best feature I encountered with the gameplay was the 'skip' option every time a mind-numbing cutscene popped. The graphics are indeed a joy to behold, but in the age of 4K, VR etc. that really doesn't impress me anymore. They did however really nail the balance between different environments; snow, desert, jungle all gave off a nice hue that made for a few pretty screenshots. The main character was a bore. She looked boring, talked boring, walked boring and her journey was in keeping with it all. The weapons are so limited and repetitive and the armors are about 3 or 4 versions of the same design. I tried picking the story up again after abandoning it back in the summer but it was just more of the same feeling. Bloodborne, DriveClub and possibly even Shadow Fall are all reasons to invest in a PS4. Horizon Zero Dawn, in my opinion, is not.

The only reason I could think a person would buy this game is if they've never actually played an FM title before. If you buy one you've essentially bought them all because it's the SAME game EVERY year. It's like FIFA but even then EA have made a few tweaks in gameplay and introduced varying modes over the years. The essence of these management sims is building a team and I'm not sure why people get so caught up in needing to have up to date squads etc. One in-game window later and squads are going to be out of sync with reality anyway. So really, picking up anything from 2010-2016 for a fraction of the price is more cost effective. That and 2017 is a bad FM installment in itself.
