Even ignoring the controversy surrounding the game, it's a super mid game, just as every AC game has been since the Ezio storyline. None of the characters are particularly attractive or strong writing. The facial animations is... sort of there. The combat ****, nothing other games have been doing for the last 10 years. It's EXACTLY the same AC game Ubi has been releasing year after year after year at its core. MID

not sure why this game is getting such high reviews the combat is so-so, it tries to be Dark Souls but it's not the platforming is terrible, you can miss jumps even when you know what you're supposed to do, that's bad design the map is a hot mess and the levels never have any clear indication where you're supposed to go. that's not how you do "open world" basically it's a game that tries to be Dark Souls with platforming tacked-on and with a Star Wars skin, but poorly executed

Not sure why this game is so highly rated. It plays like a REALLY old GTA game with pretty skins layered over it. The combat system is sluggish. And the fast travel system is antiquated and doesn't respect the time of adult gamers, who may not have as much time to play games. Not to mention most of the riding around is just boring and wasting time and the side missions are just rinse of repeat of doing the same things over and over to pad time. If you hated the chase missions in GTA, congratulations, cause they're back too. Open world games have moved on, with games like Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West, as well as Breath of the Wild. It's time Rockstar updated their ancient formula and keep up with the times. The fact this game is so highly rated shows how much people are blinded by the name and title rather than judging a game for what it is, an old rinse and repeat tedious formula with a really pretty skin over it.

Player character controls like ass. Distinct disconnect between player input and what happens on screen. Tons of busy work. Slow burn at the start. Antiquated combat and fast travel system that pales in comparison to games like Horizon series (Zero Dawn/ Forbidden West) and Breath of the Wild. Feels like playing an old game with pretty graphics.

Fantastic world building and design ruined by poor combat. Tunic had a great idea, to combine Zelda and Souls, but failed in the execution. The combat design fails to understand what makes Souls combat challenging but fair. You can cheese or brute force through some early fights, but eventually it's just a lot of cheese. I eventually turned on God mode and unlimited stamina, and still felt some boss fights were complete BS. The game becomes a lot more enjoyable with the cheats. The instruction manual system was an absolute gem. You could do everything from the start, but you could discover the "secrets" yourself, or find a page and find out about it. Both are rewarding in their own way.

The only thing they kind of improved was the graphics. It's sad to see the developer doesn't know what made their own game great. Zero Dawn had only a few weapon sets and progressively made them better. This means you were focused on combat. Your weapon wheel had enough slots to not have to play inventory management. Want to tear? Use the Tear Bow. Forbidden West broke that by having too many weapons, which means none of the are particularly good. Which means you spend too much time managing the inventory rather than combat. Zero Dawn was fun, because once you found the right way to take down a machine, you could blow through it easily. Up to this point, I found only the Bristleback followed this formula. Other fights kind of turns into a grind which is boring. The Ropecaster is supposed to be good on flight type enemies, but nope. It's not. The developers tried to put in too many new things. But they didn't need to. They just needed new enemy types with different ways to kill quickly. They should have kept everything else the same. The shieldwing shows exactly how the developer was just cramming things into the game without knowing what to do with it. They probably saw it in BoTW and thought it was cool, but they put it in without much verticality in most of the map. So I practically forgot that it existed. The map in BoTW was specifically designed to make the glider useful and fun

This game is like an 8, but gave it a 10 to balance out the negatives scores from people who want story delivered to them on a platter. Control delivers the story in a classic "Show. Don't tell" manner, which is apparently too difficult for many people. The world building results in huge potential for games based in the Alan Wake/Control universe. The game play is decent, but minor problems prevent it from greatness. For example, there's not way to tell if an enemy has spawned or snuck behind behind you, and there's a lack of feedback when you take damage, which all results in a lot of unnecessary cheap deaths.

You will HATE this **** then... you will love the people along with the ride with you. For all its faults, the game does exactly what it set out to do. Just as Norman Reedus connects the world within the game, the game connects the players. This game is NOT a walking simulator. It's a world builder. It just doesn't tell you that. The cargo isn't the objective, the objective is the realisation that your pain is shared with every players playing the game, and that each and every one makes the lives of other easier, whether you mean to or not. When you start connecting the world with ziplines, highways, repair stations, the game makes more and more sense. You change the way you build. You change your thinking. You start building in ways that makes you think "where would I place this such that it benefits people making this particular route?", you start seeing the game world in a different way "there's a gap there in the network, where players taking that route would not have a rest stop/zipline" and you go there and start making it. You still hate the game. But it's not longer the one you're playing

Ghost of Tsushima is a good game. But it's definitely overrated. It's about a 7 The game does many things right, like using the wind as a waypoint indicator instead of an arrow or minimap. The combat is fun and engaging, and I find myself preferring open combat to sneaking and assassination. The flow is good, and the constant scissor-paper-stone of stances and types of enemies keep things interesting. However, a few things keep it from attaining true greatness on the level of something like Breath of the Wild. The first and biggest problem is running. Jin and his horse very often seems to get caught on some invisible terrain and bring your sprint to a sudden half. This happens so often that sometimes you feel like you are stuck. This really distracts you and prevents you from immersing yourself into the game. The 2nd major problem is the platforming aspects of the game. It is just terrible. Jin doesn't "sticky" to the correct places during the platforming segment, and often you just randomly jump off a cliff when you expect to make the jump. The developers could have learnt from many really good 3D platformers in the past. But they didn't. The last minor **** is the fact that the whole game feels iterative. It's not bad, but it doesn't really do anything revolutionary. If the devs fix the running problem and platforming issues, I'd give this a 8. As it is, it shows a lack of polish that makes it undeserving of a higher score. I can't believe people overlook some of these fundamental aspects of making a game and gives this game such a high score

Great game but buy it on PS4 if you have the choice. Hot laggy mess as you progress further into the game, to the point of unplayable. Lots of tiny little technical problems and design choices prevents it from attaining greatness. Like unable to control camera zoom, so if the camera decides you need to see the Buider's hair folicles, you've had it until the camera finally decides you can have a better camera angle. And also a certain character's dialogue CANNOT be skipped. and the game designers decided we are all dyslexic and need 30 seconds to read a single word.

I'm going to give this game a fair score of 7. The story and core gameplay is very good, and I did enjot playing the game. However, some glaring issues makes the experience a frustration. 1) The axe throwing puzzles. It gets old really really fast. And especially the Norn chests. Even when you know what you're suppose to do, it's an exercise in frustration. The timing windows are far too narrow. 2) There are no invincibility frames in this game, which means you can get STUNLOCKED by multiple enemies and die without any way to get out of it. God of War tries to become more Souls-like, without the tight responsive control and the core mechanics of Souls games. When you die in Souls, you know you messed up. Here, it's just frustration as a dodge that should have worked doesn't, because just the bare edge of the attack catches you, or you dodged into an obstacle because of the camera. 3) Speaking of the camera, it's the WORST. You can't see where the enemies are coming at you and dodge/parry, and the threat indicators are extremely poorly designed and you can't tell which direction the enemy is coming from. God of War should take cues from Middle Earth on how combat should work with multiple enemies. Again, like Souls, in Middle Earth, if you fail to parry/dodge, you always know it's your mistake It's a fantastic game that I would recommend, as long as you can bear with the glaring issues stated above.

We already knew the gameplay is crap since Fallout 3. But we braved through it for the Fallout universe. And then who had the bright idea to rip out the entire soul of the game, leaving only the skeleton and the infested rotten colon? GET OUT Bethesda! And let the door hit you on the way out. User ScoreImperialKnight
Oct 8, 2018
Mega Man 11 is good but not great. It has kept most of the iconic stuff from Mega Man like the movement and introduces some new concepts like upgrades. However, the design philosophy is completely changed now. The stages are designed in a way that seems to intentionally gate you from ever reaching the boss. Coupled with the fact that the game requires a lot of trial and error to get correct, there will be a lot of frustration. It seems like the developers are trying to drag the game out into a 60 hour game instead of a 10 hour one by preventing you from getting to the fun parts, fighting the mid stage boss and stage boss. In the old Mega Man, it's almost a given that you will be able to reach the stage boss after a few tries, and once you have gone through the stage, you will always get there. But in Mega Man 11, there are a lot of cheap level designs that intentionally stops you from getting there, even if you know what to do. It seems like Capcom has forgotten what made Mega Man fun, fighting the bosses, figuring out their patterns and getting a perfect win, either with just the Mega Buster or the bosses weakness through the iconic scissor-paper-stone concept of stage bosses. The Gear system is essential for the game, but the button placement would have been better on the ZL/ZR rather than L/R buttons, IMO

A competent Warriors/Musou game. Reviews should be based on the genre of the game, and this game shouldn't be scored low just because the reviewer feels Musou games are stupid. It is a very competent Musou game, and it incoporates Fire Emblem's various mechanics very well. The weapon triangle really makes you feel the difference when you have the right weapons. And the ability to pair and raise your bond makes it feel like a proper Fire Emblem game. There are enough upgrade mechanics to keep you replaying and the graphics are alright, considering the Switch is not a powerhouse of computing power. If you buy a Musou game, you already know what you're in for, tearing through waves and waves of grunts, making you feel like a god. And Fire Emblem Warriors does not disappoint. Points off for the roster. But the mainstay characters are mostly there.

This is a very classic JRPG with an "open world" shoe horned in. It's not bad, it's just average. And what's worst, it comes out AFTER Breath of the Wild. It contrasts how well BotW was designed with the world in mind and how in Xenoblade, it's an after thought. The minor irritations within Xenoblade slowly adds up, and eventually you just want to tear through the main campaign and forget about the rest of the game. The battle system is over complicated. It throw dozens of mechanics at you, but ultimately none of them really makes much of a difference. The mechanics don't allow you to take out much higher level enemies and in the end, it's still a classic JRPG grind for levels to match the enemies

A good game marred by tons of things that detract from the core gameplay experience. 1) The single player "campaign". A super extended tutorial that is super boring. Tries to hide behind the fact that it's just a long tutorial with boring stages and uninspired bosses meant to force you to use and learn different weapons. 2) Walling the different weapons and customisations behind an initial grind. Forcing you to use the basic splatter for 4 levels is just meaningless. I actually felt like giving up before I hit level 4. You need to grind past it to get past it to get to the meat of the game. Why? And then it's more grind to get to ranked and league games. WHY? 3) Off the Hook. Why are players forced to watch some stupid cut scene everyday to tell you the day's stage rotations. This game doesn't deserve the high praise it has. It's a good game, but it suffers from a lot of core design problems. There is very poor conveyance to players about what they're supposed to do. Just a couple of examples, there's a part where you need to swap orientation of steps using the stomp attack. This is never shown, and not explicitly sign-posted for the players. The only indication is an obscure explosion sign on the platform to "show" you have to stomp on it. This goes against what the game has taught you where things vibrate when you're suppose to stomp on them. A good design would have been to put a Power Moon on such a platform and when you stomp to obtain it, the stairs swap orientation. Another example is where you have to fight an octopus boss by shooting it. You NEED to raise yourself to a certain height before your hit registers. This makes no sense because all your projectiles hit the boss. There is no clear indication of where the hitbox of the boss is. There is a hint where cappy says, you need to go above the head. But the boss has magma on his head initially. After the first hits, the magma is removed, so you think the initial hint is only meant to remove the magma. The movement of Mario is also sloppy, where you slip and slide a few steps before moving. WHY? This makes the control feel slippery. Sure, you can get use to it. But again, WHY? It doesn't serve ANY gameplay mechanics. A platformer needs to have tight controls. By the middle of the game, I felt like I wanted to just get the game over and done with. I don't get why this gets a higher user score compared to Breath of the Wild, which has FAR better world and game design. I look forward to finishing the story so I can go back to the world of Zelda.
