Everspace 2 is a perfect blend of an arcade shooter and space-looting action RPG, but not without its flaws. While a massive departure from the first Everspace game, if you’re nostalgic for classics like Freelancer and want a story that would fit perfectly into a 90s action sci-fi movie, this is the game for you.
If you were a fan of Privateer grab a copy. If you just like the idea of an open world space flight game with aspects of role playing grab a copy… if you might be… maybe wait for a sale then grab a copy.

A paradise for gamers that leave no stone unturned. There’s no procedural generation involved, so every nook and cranny were hand-made, and there’s a generous amount of loot to be found. [Issue#262, p.68]

It tries very hard and has crafting/upgrading/selling/buying/space flying and also upgrades offered by team mates in the game. I think it's trying to do everything sort of jack of all trades, but master of none. We could easily cut out the upgrading/crafting, it makes the game convoluted and burdening the player with too much things to do, while not really significantly changing a whole lot. Too much grind also. As others pointed out, the game progresses ahead and a level-wall comes up early in the game and it forces the people to grind away on very generic and rather boring missions, which consist of flying to location, killing some pirates, solving some puzzle of carrying a battery and placing it somewhere else or similar and then flying back with the loot. Sell the loot but its not much money and the missions pay little. It sort of gives you the 'oh my.. how many of these missions I have to do to get xyz things or just level up? " - So it's super grindy. I'm gonna try to unlock the rest of the systems, but I'm afraid I will be just doing what I do right now, just different colors in space and different objects. It's really just average. The graphics is great, music is generic, the main mission can be boring. Too much grind.

Can't keep playing, nothing interests me while the game progresses, I don't understand the hype, it is a boring game

It's definitely better than the first one, but somehow it can't hold my attention. Maybe it's the overloaded user interface and complex controls? Or perhaps the unfair mission objectives? Or maybe it's the animatics cutscenes? It's okay if you don't have the budget, but it does feel a bit unfinished. I don't know. Maybe it's a bit of everything. I like the German voice audio and had fun with the game overall. It's a good game, but it lacks that certain something. Galaxy on Fire 2 also has unfair situations, but I had a lot of fun with it. Even mining asteroids to gather resources was something special what I like. That game gave me a sense of ownership and progression, kind of like Freelancer. I'm not trying to knock this game at all, but I hope the next game gets even better. It's definitely a step in the right direction. For the next game maybe less is more? Inspired of GoF2, Freelancer, and Darkstar One? I don't know. Keep it up!

With fast paced frenetic combat, a story that keeps you guessing, and enough interlocked systems to bring it all together in a way the first game never could, Everspace 2 is the best space game I’ve played in a very long time. Rockfish reached for the stars, and damn if they didn’t catch ‘em.

Everspace 2 is an excellent game filled to the brim with content. Regardless of your genre of choice, Everspace 2 will definitely have something for you, from a fun, lengthy story, to intense space combat, to an endgame fueled by the hunt for better loot.

Great space combat game, and most important: it's a 100% single player experience.

After more than 200hrs of gameplay I must say that EVERSPACE 2 is a masterpiece than no other. Early reviews with less than 50hrs of gameplay did injustice to the game since they did not even toughed to the slightest the variety and depth of gameplay of this sandbox unique space themed game. Played with an Xbox type controller Logitech F710 for PC (recommended way to play using an Xbox type controller is by reducing the moving sensitivity of the controller sticks to the bare minimum).

Everspace 2 works very well too. Despite all the changes compared to the first chapter, or perhaps precisely because of them, it manages to present itself as a space epic on the one hand, and as an engaging shooter with spaceships on the other.

Don't mind me complaining about its monotony, a game with a similar sense of action and exploration comes along once in a blue moon. Fans of sci-fi set in space should not miss it.

Disguised as a simple space sim, Everspace 2 hides an engine full of solid and very well accomplished ARPG systems. The story leaves something to be desired, but there is no shortage of options when it comes to the variety of builds possible. Combat is a real pleasure at every stage of the game, propelled by systems that are easy to understand and deep enough to let your skill and imagination run wild.

EverSpace 2 is a snazzy loot shooter with intense combat that could do better with its story and world.

IGN
Everspace 2 is pure, distilled video game, all about how its space combat action plays moment to moment rather than whether that makes sense in a game world or fits a complex and nuanced story.

superb game! I love the "diablo" meets "space sim" aspect. The visuals are really nice. The story is nothing too special but interesting so far and the open world gives you a "freedom" experience. it is far more accessible than star citizen. If you liked freelancer, you will also like this one. If you like science fiction, you will also like it :)

Pros - The combat is acceptable - There are rewards for exploration Cons - Alienates the original Everspace fanbase by scrapping the roguelike concept of the first game for a mediocre story driven sequel. - Uninteresting environment. Everywhere looks the same. - Encounters are extremely repetitive

There are a tons of loading screens. Around 35% of the gameplay is you traveling from point A to point B through a loading screen . This is unacceptable. I do not wanna play this anymore for that reason alone.
