Duke Nukem Forever aspires to take gamers back to a different period in the gaming continuum. What it will really do is inspire you to take it back to the store for a full and complete refund.
The potential for a fun but simple shooter is here, but even with Gearbox at the helm Duke Nukem Forever is clearly a hastily-cobbled sum of unfinished parts. It could have been epic if it was released 3 to 4 years ago, but nowadays there are new rivals for the throne.

An 18-rated game made for 13-year-olds, and yet it is the gameplay that is the biggest disappointment. [Issue#74, p.82]

This game is terrible but so is Duke Nukem loved the old 90's theme to it and the cheesy ass catch phrases.

Duke Nukem fans, this game is for you. The campaign features nice balance and many of the same elements that have since come to define the DN experience. The presentation could be better, and the "loading checkpoints" is a chore to deal with and definitely interrupts the flow. Online, while simple, offers an incredibly fun experience that can be hard to put down.

Is Duke Nukem Forever as awful as some folks are saying? No. But is it a project that's been worth waiting for over the last decade? Also no. It's disappointing that Gearbox couldn't quite make the whole experience a worthwhile effort for someone like Duke, while, by the same token, it sticks to its retro guns fittingly in some parts, enough to make the game worth a rental.

Buried deep into Duke Nukem Forever there is nice game to be found. Problem is that developers have put their best efforts to hide it from the surface. Despite all of this, when Duke can be him at his full, he can still deliver some good shots of plain fun. Too bad it doesn't happen that often.

And that, as insane as it sounds, is the crux of the matter: Duke Nukem Forever feels like it was rushed out the door. So many of the design decisions are poor, so much of the maps are unbalanced (going from uneventful to extremely difficult in a flash), and the graphics are so shoddy, that an experienced gamer can come to no other conclusion.

Probably the biggest joke in Duke Nukem Forever is that the game was released as a top-tier title at a $60 price point. The game that was supposed to reboot the franchise has without a doubt rebooted it to a BSOD, and it will certainly take some time for the Duke legacy to recover from this fiasco.

It's not obvious they knew just how monumentally moronic the game they created is. That's the key difference between the two titles: Bulletstorm is the funny guy at the party who has a bit too much to drink. DNF is the guy who gets plastered, runs around naked with a lampshade on his head and doesn't understand that everyone is laughing at him, not with him.

Ok Randy Pitchford, please make this game, along with Alien Colonial Marines, available as Xbox One Backwards Compatible games. Per Major Nelson, it's up to you guys to make this happen. I gave both games a 10, because I really enjoyed them, despite some flaws. The DLC for both games are actually even better than the base games. So Randy, I'm waiting.... Sign those forms... Backwards compatible please. Thank you

I'm sure that a lot of people who have been waiting a really long for this game are extremely disappointed with the end results, but I hadn't really been anticipating this game and didn't expect anything spectacular from it, which is why I can say it isn't that bad. Yes, the plot is awful and it seems that the story and a lot of the gameplay seems thrown together and rushed out, but I guess it kind of depends on where you stand on it. I've never been a fan of Duke Nukem, however I plan to get some of the previous games soon... so when I saw that this game was only $5 I thought, "why not?" and I honestly didn't think it was as bad as a lot of people do. I do agree that it was kind kind of a slap in the face to Duke Nukem fans, but if you look at it as a crappy game you may actually enjoy it. That's what I did, it might not seem logical, but expect it to have a grip-less story and just have fun playing it for a few hours.

Not nearly as bad as many reviewers would suggest. This game is obviously very dated, both in terms of graphics and design, but playing as Duke can be a lot of fun and the game doesn't take itself too seriously. Some of the levels, such as Duke Burger, City, and Ghost Town are great fun but too many are full of bland and frustrating platforming. There's actually a lot more platforming than shooting, which for a Duke game can't be right. Multiplayer is functional if you can find someone to play against, and it's fun to stock your apartment with goodies. Overall I'd say this is worth a try and I hope they make a sequel with more up to date graphics and gameplay.

Recomendar? Difícil.

Big Duke fan here, got a laugh or two from the jokes, had a nostalgia trip, but this game just feels unfinished and unpolished and not fun. The classic duke humor is still there, but that's just about it.
