Avowed3

Boring. You'd expect a AAA to be confident and strong with what it sets out to do, and be polished and quality tested to try to make it fun, especially for the start of the game because that's where players form their opinions. I started Avowed because it was free on Xbox Games Pass. It is so boring. Uninspired writing and uninspired gameplay. Good but not gobsmacking graphics. Compared to say Baldur's Gate 3, it is a big step backwards for RPGs. Example, you can't chat anytime with the NPCs in your party, they just follow you silently. I gave up and stopped playing Avowed. I'd rather spend my RPG time now on Metaphor Refantazio, which does have gobsmacking artistic design, and an intriguing plot.

Could be great, but frustrating for the mid-core gamer and I would say virtually impossible for the casual gamer. This is a difficult game! There are no difficulty settings to set the difficulty level to what you would prefer. Not only that, you cannot save anytime and reload an earlier save if you've gotten yourself into a bad situation. I was keen to try this 'slow driving' game, but gave up early on because the difficulty level for me was too high for the value returned by playing. Developers, what's wrong with giving players the chance to customise the game to their preferred difficulty level? So many other great games provide this!

Great level design. Each tactical combat is a puzzle to solve, but not a linear puzzle that can solved one way, instead there are many ways. The combination of stealth/ambush and regular combat is nice. Some people complain about the lack of extensive customisation, that's not a problem for me, as the basic setup is very good. Catch this game on sale and enjoy if you like turn-based tactical combat. If you're not sure, give it a try if you like the WWII setting. The developers say they tried for 'historical authenticity' consistent with fun gameplay.

King Arthur: Legion IX10

This game has the best medieval combat. You really feel like an armored knight. The game has no RNG, thus, there is never the frustration of a missed shot. It is all 'all your team moves at the same time' (like Gears Tactics) not a turn order game (like Triangle Strategy). Thus, your challenge is to optimise the team attack, consider all six team members each with around 8 action points that could be movement or attacking and each with multiple different types of actions (special moves, buffs...). All that keeps the mind busy! I found I would get into a flow trying to figure out what to do in my turn. You can save between battles in a mission but not within a battle, which is a good system to reduce the temptation to save-scumming yet allow you the comfort knowing that if you wanted to re-do a whole battle you could. If you liked King Arthur: Knight's Tale, you'll probably like this game. This game is a bit more streamlined (e.g., there is only vitality, not vitality plus health) its 'parent game', in ways that I like.
The developer, Neocore games, does a great job in designing levels. Nice graphics in this game. Overall, IMHO, this game has the best medieval turn-based combat, which really captures the feel of being an armored knight.

Just about the very best graphics for a TRPG. Beautiful looking game. This game is not just one tactical combat after another. It has dimensions of exploration, story, RPG, stealth and then battles. To like this game, you have to like the idea of positioning your units optimally before the actual battle starts, including finding and ambushing isolated enemies. I find this aspect of the gameplay is a nice complement to other more traditional battle oriented TRPGs such as King Arthur: Knights Tale (which is great in its own way).

Just about the best tactical combat I have ever seen. Not only is it clear what you can do in combat, but it is also clear what the enemy can do, so you can plan your party of heroes' attacks carefully. Good graphics. Unusual setting, with undead Arthurian legend characters in the land of Avalon. Good graphics. Makes you really feel like a armored knight in combat, or like a wizard.

A relaxing mystery to solve, with great graphics and light combat. Most of the game is experiencing the setting that is rare in gaming, 1900ish Eastern Europe with Eastern European mythology. The game provides a break from typical fantasy settings, yet has an interesting mythology to experience. Great graphics, very good voicing. Not too hard, can be played as a relaxing game.

Wow. An immersive game world. Not just an immersive game, but an immersive GAME world. The next gen HD-2D graphics create a world that looks like a game world. This game world looks greats and seems alive. You know you're out of the real world and into a classic game world (but with better graphics). There is not just one story, but eight individual stories plus the overall story. The writing is good. Each character is distinctive. For example, one character is a dancer who wants to bring smiles to the world! I've never seen anything like that before. It's nice to see happy characters who want to bring joy to the world. Yet, there's also a thief character, who says "heh, heh" as she steals from townspeople. This is the first time I've experienced this combat based on a break the enemy system. The game runs smoothly on my PC, never a game performance problem. In sum, a top quality game by Square Enix's currently best (or one of the best) developers, Team Asano. Note: you don't need to have played Octopath Traveller the original in order to play this one.

This game is huge. It is immersion in a world. Want to be on the team with Marvel superheroes? Here you go. I like the interaction with the superheroes. To me, that enhances immersion. It's interpersonal relationships, making friends with and learning about the Marvel superheroes. The combat is very innovative and interesting, I've never seen any turn-based combat like this. If you play tactical combat games, you'll probably like this new approach, at least as variety. In sum, if you like the idea of immersion in the Marvel superhero world, and don't need every game to be an action game, then check this game out. As I write this, the game is often on sale.

Great potential for this game. Distinctive and pretty art style. Seems to be no fighting or violence, which will be a plus. However, this is my message to the developers, I stopped playing because the game lack auto-text advance. Why not make auto-text advance available at least as an option. I must say that I dislike having to press a button after every line of text to advance to the next line of text.

If you've enjoyed the Marvel comedy superhero movies, like Thor: Ragnarok or Spider Man: No Way Home, you'll like the banter in this game. This game is like being a part of a movie like those. For me, it was laugh out loud at times. The tactical combat is surprisingly rich. Combat cards are specific to each hero's superpowers. There are also terrain effects. Not only are there attack cards, but there are buff and debuff cards, etc. This combat mechanic will be different enough to be interesting for those (like me) who are used to the typical grid-based tactical battles. There aren't as many AAA production value story-rich tactical RPGS, especially comedic, so all things considered this game has impressed me.

Brilliant innovative tactical combat, using a three lane timeline (speed/balanced/power). Lots of buffs and debuffs. Each of your heroes has different capabilities and a different role. While combat can seem a bit complicated at first, after playing it for some time you will appreciate the richness and innovativeness of the tactical combat. Nice graphics, great voice acting, nice though not deep story. I encountered no bugs. This is a game I will play to the finish, as also the designers vary and ramp up the baddies as you progress to keep it interesting. It is one of the best tactical RPGs on Xbox, which is where I play it. Already have over 100 hours into it.

My favorite city builder/colony survival sim. Very immersive. The game look fits the frost and punk theme very well. Nice graphics. The main campaign is epic. The story is epic. Once done, the developers have added free scenarios, as well as there is paid DLC. The city building and tech tree makes sense. Great feel to building up an army of automatons to do the work in areas that too freezing for humans to risk. Friendly to newbies, at least on Easy and Normal difficulties. My appreciation to the developers to two features that players can choose to use. The game allows you the choice to resume from a Saved game if you make an error, which reduces the stress of fearing that you have to start over if you make a mistake mid or late game. In other words, you can Save (or Load) at any time. Also, the game has Active Pause, meaning you can pause the game and study what is going on and them input your actions, then resume the game. The reduces the stress of feeling time pressure when you're trying to figure out what's happening. Of course, these are optional, so you can challenge yourself further by not doing these (i.e., only one Saved game at a time, don't use Active Pause). The main campaign, scenarios, and DLC will keep me busy for some time, and then Frostpunk 2 will come out (and I'm looking forward to it!)

Amazing! Highly polished. Never owning a Nintendo console, I've been unable to play Fire Emblem. Triangle Strategy is a great SRPG (strategy RPG), I'm told in the general style of Fire Emblem, and Triangle Strategy is available on PC. Some people say about this game, "too much story". I like all the story, it sets the context and increases the immersion and helps you get to know and care about the characters. I like the three parts of the game, story, exploration, and combat. If you're looking for a combat only game, this isn't it. I would say there are four parts to the game: the above three plus RPG. The RPG parts are the Roster management and hero/weapon/skills progression in the Encampment. The game is very welcoming and forgiving to newbies on Easy and Normal difficulties. There isn't permadeath. A nice idea is even if you lose a battle, your heroes retain their experience gained, which helps you have a better chance when you re-fight the battle and makes losing not so completely dreadful. Overall, very enjoyable it you lean into what it is and don't insist on what it isn't (especially you shouldn't resent that it's not combat dominant). I'd welcome to see more games like this on PC.

I've given it a game because it's a good game, with no action combat. Nice graphics. Good story. However, this is a comment to the developers, please add an optional auto text advance feature. In text heavy games it is so tedious to constantly have to press a key to advance the text. I've played other auto text advance games, and now I'm spoiled in the sense that I love it.

An isometric turn-based RPG with a comedy tone! I enjoyed the parody of the CRPG genre at the same time it is a CRPG. It was something different for turn-based RPG players. The combat was surprisingly deep. The graphics are outstanding. The interface is excellent. This game is a European arts funded production. The negative? There is a RNG element, and an enemy can surprisingly dodge a shot you expected to make. Yet, an innovation of this game, there is a 'bad luck gauge' which fills up when RNG goes against you, and then provides a bonus that can help. Overall, I like this more than

The comedy tone is fun, but don't let that fool you into thinking it won't have challenging combat, because it does. A 2 without Auto Text Advance, could be a 7 with Auto Text Advance. This game has lots of text, and you have to press a key or controller button after every sentence to advance to the next sentence, then you have to press a key or controller button to advance to the next sentence, then you have to press a key or controller button to advance to the next sentence, ad infinitum. I don't like this. It would be simple to have Auto Text Advance as an option, so that people who want it, like me, can have it, and people who don't want it, don't have to have it. So I stopped playing. If it had Auto Text Advance, I would have played it more and given it more of a chance, but with all the other great games I can play, this situation of lots of text and no Auto Text Advance means this game is a low priority for me.

Potentially great. The good points said about the game already, I would also say. I really just want to send a message to the developers (hope they read this). Please add more CUSTOMISATION options. Specifically, 1) I find the game speed too fast when there's lots happening. Please offer a speed selection option for single player, which allows us to slow down the game when it's complex or speed up the game early on when not much is happening. 2) Please allow a Free Pause. This allows you to pause the game, analyse the situation, and give orders, then resume the game playing. Some people believe Free Pause is cheating. That's fine, if you don't like it, don't use it. Free Pause could be a tick box in the Options to enable or disable. I like Free Pause because I enjoy having the time to analyse a complex situation, and having the time to assign orders to my units to implement my plan. Without Free Pause or slowing the speed, the game bec0mes a hurried, actions-per-minute actions frenzy. Some people may like that, fine, that's why the suggestion is to allow customisation options and let players choose the type of play they enjoy.

Absolutely beautiful art style. Hand drawn, intricate characters and backgrounds. Great music by highly-regarded Japanese game music composers. To get it's look, it has an unusual 2D visual style, but this gives it a different look from many other similar games. The main characters are adults, so this is not a game aimed at little kids, though the game is fine for the whole family to play. As I write this, the game is free on Xbox Games Pass.

I enjoy the unique atmosphere of this game: unique art style, irreverent tone. I like that it's not a constant-shooting, run and gun game. I'm interested enough to carefully watch my inventory of new items, always looking to update and improve guns and shields as soon as possible. So far the difficulty level at normal (intermediate) is about right for me, not too hard, not too easy. It's not a complex game, so when you just want to divert yourself with a fun atmosphere and some gunplay, without having to think too much, this game is good for that. (If you're in a mood to think more about your game, then try something else like RDR2 or Cyberpunk 2077).

This game is the developer's attempt at creating the next generation RTS. The developer, ****, has been constantly improving the game to the point where as I write this it is version 2.4. There is much to master in this game. The game has more features than I have ever seen in an RTS. For example, you can change the game speed during the game. I like this because there are a lot of things happening in late game, so the game can be slowed down to allow more time for thinking and controlling units. Also available is free pause, again to allow more time to think and control your units, if you wish to use it. Overall, this game is now a very impressive sci-fi RTS.
