Mass Effect: Andromeda

Ugh I hate coming back to this site after I've already posted a review. I've played some more out of a sadistic curiosity to see if it really does get better later. It doesn't. I've now nearly completed the game from what I can see and it hasn't gotten interesting yet. This may sound odd, but I think Bioware is officially dead, and by picking apart this game I get a pretty good post mortum analysis. Everyone has already pointed out that the team that made Andromeda doesn't actually have any members of the staff that worked on ME2, but it goes deeper than just that. The people EA have let work on one of their shiniest franchises are majority hacks. I pointed out earlier that it feels like a fanmade romhack and I think thats really what this is. The main story is pretty **** but at least its follow able, but the side parts of the game is really what tear it apart. Space in Mass Effect has never felt so empty. No locations feel like living spaces with unique atmospheres like Omega and the Citadel did, and none of the party members are likable what so ever. Creepy faces aside the writing is just not good. It's average, and average for the video games industry is really, really bad. So what is a bioware game without good writing and set design? Bad, really, really bad. Save your dough, Mass Effect and Bioware are dead. RiP good Franchise.

It's not very good. Its just sort of generic timewasting trash. Do you like destiny and would you rather be playing an even more mediocre destiny thats a realistic 3rd person shooter where guns do no damage? If yes wait for it to go down in price then realize the servers are dead and DONT buy this game.

It's really good. It's the classic Fire Emblem formula polished up with a few new shiny wheels, but everything you liked about the old games comes back. The characters are interesting enough to keep you occupied and the story is goofy (you essentially take a temp job for Satan while no one, including Satan himself, ever expected you to be working for him) but interesting enough to keep you playing til the end. I know it got a well deserved beating for being heavily "Localized" (read censored) but it still holds up as a game, even if a more direct translation would have been better or whatever. Still worth your time and attention.

I told myself I was too biased to review this game because I love the art style, the game genre, and the atmosphere but screw it. It's really good. Like really really good. The gameplay is engaging albeit occasionally frustrating, but what I kept coming back for was the atmosphere. There hasn't been a lovecraftian world that feels this dreadful and oppressive since... I can't actually remember. It's better than everything I can compare it too. All the attacks feel weighty and powerful, all the dialogue and mechanics work together to make an incredibly cohesive and immersive experience and you got this sick narrator who just cuts in with **** like A SINGULAR STRIKE whenever you do ANYTHING. He has like a quadrillion lines of dialogue and there all really **** nice. I want him to narrate my life, it would make **** a lot spookier and A LOT more interesting. Buy this game if you're looking for a brutal experience where you cant afford to **** up and **** around that will keep you engaged for at least two or three runs. The only bad point I can think of is the dungeons and unit management are the only two aspects to the game but they compliment eachother so well with so little filler that I can't even call it bad. It's a incredibly well designed game with the best atmosphere in a game ever. Bar nothing. Its just so satifying. A SINGULAR STRIKE!

It would be fine if it was like 15 dollars, but its 25 and I can't let that crap slide. If you need to lose money very quickly I would just burn it or something, but if you feel like playing a pretty interesting gimmicky first person shooter that is worth 10 dollars less that whats its selling for try Superhot!

ITS LIKE SKYRIM WITH GUNS WITHOUT THE GUNS FNYER FNYER FNYER. It also lacks Skyrims interesting open world filled with lots of explorable dungeons, Skyrims amount of content, Skyrims average writing (because this game has bad writing, bad, bad, bad, bad writing. Like seriously look up the cutscenes on youtube their **** hilarious.) Skyrims variety in weapons and skills, Skyrims long runtime and Skyrims random encounter system that made the world feel cohesive and engaging. In short it's like Skyrim without any redeemable qualities whatsoever and they charge you 60 dollars for it. So for those who are too lazy to read the whole thing heres my argument in short. ITS NOT GOOD AND DONT BUY IT.

Im really iffy on this one. The world of Boston is one of Bethesda's finest productions, but... it just feels so empty. I know the lack of depth in Bethesda's games has always been a common complaint but boy can you feel it here. Skyrim got a lot of flack for being shallow, but at least there was stuff in it. Fallout 4 just has reasonably polished gunplay to hold the world together than a whole lot of nothing. After the incredibly deep narrative that New Vegas brought us Fallout 4 had huge standards to live up to and it didn't. There wont be enough here to hook you in. So dont bother

Although the combat gets a bit stale and its doesn't look nearly as nice as modern day games there is an incredibly depth to Planescape: Torment that has not been reached by any video game since its release. Now its more than 15 years old but the excellent writing contained in this game still can captivate players today. As the first example I can think of for video games as "ART" this game should be played by anyone with even a passing interest in video games as a medium of communication, or just people who want to have an intellectually satisfying time. Get it on Good Old Games, its like 5 bucks and it has more depth than the past 50 Triple-A "Masterpieces" that have graced us recently.

In its current state Just Cause 3 is a buggy, always online, poorly optimized, open world, blow em upper with not enough interesting things to destroy. Disregarding the terrible optimization and constant buggery, and awful loading times the game isn't that fun. The world is huge, but feels empty as well. If fallout 4 was called by some "as large as an ocean, as shallow as a puddle", but Just Cause 3 totally destroys it in the shallowness department. The areas are beautiful but feel samey, and you will eventually just end up lazily rushing through the world because nothing is interesting enough to hold your attention. Disregarding all of that however and we are given a totally broken mess ****. It has **** always online DRM mechanics that will make you wait upwards of 2 minutes trying to connect to a server that goes down if someone sneezes at it the wrong way and then will try and reconnect you for no reason right when the action gets good. The game is as buggy as a big bug bugging out in a dune buggy as well. I kept falling through the world and breaking stuff I didn't mean to because they rushed this thing out the door faster than a man making retching noises on your new carpet. Also its poorly optimized and will only get a good framerate if your running it on the god damn Millennium Falcon's navicomputer. TL; DR: GAME IS BUGGY AND SHALLOW AND NOT WORTH 60 DOLLARS. WAIT UNTIL IT GETS PATCHED AND DROPS PRICE TO AROUND THE 40-50 DOLLAR MARK.

Man, I'm really sad I gotta give this game a 4/10 but in its current state that's the score it deserved. 2 weeks before I bought the game I built a really high end gaming PC and I wanted something that looked amazing to run on it, but at the end of the day it wasn't worth the money. The game looks fantastic and plays really well, mechanically its a masterpiece. The blasters all control like you think they should, with no gun really outshining all of the others, and all the vehicles are a blast to fly around it or drive. But there is something darker here. Theres only 4 maps in the game, no joke. You have 2 maps for each planet, but because 1 map on each planet is designed for the **** death match modes no one will play you only see one of them. And of the 4 maps in the game only 2 are worth playing in my opinion. The game gets old really fast... really fast. Like 5 hours. And you didn't buy a 60 dollar game for 5 hours worth of fun. All of the game is hiding in the dlc that costs 50 **** dollars. So at the end of the day don't buy it. Its not worth the money. At the same time mother**** EA is pushing a 110 dollar game with enough content to fill maybe a 40 dollar one from the late 2000's people like Bethesda are putting out a 60 dollar game that feels like it has all the DLC included. Don't buy it, just pirate it and find a way to work around the blocks EA has put up. I know it's illegal, but buying the game is basically letting EA steal money for you, and if you have bought the game, don't buy the DLC and if you can return the season pass. No one else will be playing it and you will have spent 110 dollars on a MULTIPLAYER ONLY game with empty servers, and that will be a damn shame.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse for video gaming, this thing hits the shelves. I am sad to say this game simultaneously is a new low point for video games, but will sell anyway because brain dead people will eat this **** up. The only selling point it has is the fact that it looks pretty, and boy does it look pretty, I have to give that. The problem is, once you get past the graphics there is literally no reason to play the game. You can derive all the enjoyment of actually owning it by watching gameplay of it on youtube. If you already own a copy of The Order: 1886, trade it back to game stop IMMEDIATLY. That way you may get some dough to buy a game that has more entertainment value than throwing crumpled paper balls at a trash can across the room. The gameplay is abysmal. You just sit down behind a wall for the entire **** game and plink away at boring enemies who you can't **** SEE because the graphics are so distracted with the environments that the enemies are completely indistinct. It's a worse shooter than Call of Duty, its a worse shooter than Battlefield, It is so boring that I would rather hit my head against a wall for hours on end then sit down for another slice of SHOOT AT THE DUDE pie. The absolute worst that the AAA gaming industry has to offer. I am ready to just say it, this game will bring about the end of entertaining video games through sheer bloody minded stupidity. I hope all the morons who gave this game anywhere close to a good review enjoy playing the same bog standard cover based shooters for all eternity.

I don't really want to give it a zero out of five but I feel like If I give it anything higher than that the nerd brigade will have me killed. Honestly the shooting and gameplay is ripped right out of Titanfall which isn't a bad thing. I felt the shooting in Titanfall was fine other than the fact that it was very shallow. Call of Duty AW is a bit more advanced but guess what. ITS STILL **** BECAUSE ITS CALL OF DUTY. Just buy the COD 4 the last good one in the entire series. If you are some brain deficient child you may derive some entertainment but anyone more intelligent stay away. There are better games to be had for less that 60 dollars.

WoW is the best timesink, SWTOR is the biggest dissapointmenti with the best space combat. Guild Wars 2 is the best until you reach the level cap when there is nothing to do. Basicly, if your into MMO's don't play this one because it is bad. If your not into MMO's don't get into them. Just go play KOTOR or a good old RPG.

It's literally just a better version of Batman: Arkham City. This isn't a bad thing at all though despite what it sounds like. The people who made the game said, Lets make a Lord of the Rings game, but BATMAN it. And it worked. It's a blast to play and never really gets boring. The story is **** but hey it wasn't written by Tolkien. Honestly this game needs more Lord of the Rings aspects though. We have an elf ghost... some rings... gollum... really, really generic orcs.... thats it. The orcs are slightly better than usual though because of the Nemesis system that is really cool. It makes me feel like the Illuminati or something. THATS RIGHT KIDDIES YOU CAN BE THE BAD GUY NOW. And it feels damn good.

Eh. I kind of feel bad for giving it a score this low, but I really have to. The only reason why it is this low is price vs content. The only reason to buy this version is so you can play split screen with your children. The pc version is 5 ish bucks more expensive and has way more options. More servers, more players, mods. Still Minecraft is a dead game and is even deader on the XBone.
