Adapting PS2 experiences on the PSP wasn't an uneasy task. Just look at games like SOCOM and Metal Gear Solid. While they controlled different and some sacrifices had to be made, they were fun experiences. So what happened here? They just dumped a PS2 game here, that's what happened. Ubisoft thought you can just develop a PS2 game then dump it on the PSP without making changes. First, the controls, oh my, the controls. Because of no second analog stick (seriously who the hell thought just one analog stick was a good idea?), camera control is a nightmare. The default means you cannot move Sam and the camera at the same time. Alternative allows you to do so but it puts camera control on the face buttons. Guess where the action buttons are. Either way, you need to push a button to activate or deactivate camera mode. Granted you can get used to the controls quite easily, but if only the levels were designed with that in mind. But they aren't. As if the PC and console SC games weren't difficult enough (in a good way), the control scheme made it frustrating. Remember those times where you had to reload saves when you screwed up? You'll have to do it many, many, many more times here. Speaking of reloading saves, get used to the Title: you'll be seeing it many times and for quite a while. Aside from constant reloading, you'll have to wait a long time when reloading saves. And I was playing the DIGITAL version. On a PSP-3000. So imagine playing on a UMD with the PSP-1000 (which has less RAM). That said, the loading times can be resolved if you play on a PPSSPP Emulator. The control issues, however, are still there. And I had no idea what's going on in the story. This is after Double Agent (which was released months later). Sam get falsely arrested and needs to clear his name. So all except the final level are flashbacks as Sam is telling what really happened. You also see a twist in the SC timeline which I think was not supposed to be seen until you play DA (gg Ubisoft). And remember when I said they just dumped a PS2 game here? Well, two of the levels are exactly from the console versions (one from the original and the other from Chaos Theory). And like I said, these levels were hard enough on the bigger platforms. And the bonus **** all from Pandora Tommorrow. No, if I want to play those levels, I'll play Pandora Tommorrow. You can only unlock them by entering a code on the website but since it's dead and you're curious: just go to the Bonus Missions screen, hold Select and tap L+R at the same time repeatedly till you unlock all of them. But trust me, go play PT instead as you'll just torture yourself. You've been warned. SC:E looks fun. I just wished it was playable on a platform other than the PSP. If it got some more development time, it would have been excellent. Wasted potential is what I'm seeing.

Need for Speed: Rivals4
Mar 12, 2018
At first, I thought this was an improved version of NFS Hot Pursuit 2010. Boy, was I wrong. Now that doesn't mean it has to be in order to be good, but on it's own, both as an NFS and racing game, it's just not good. Why? It's unbalanced. Cops dominate the road. When playing as them, you get new cars for free. You only have to buy the Pursuit Tech. But it's just so similar to Hot Pursuit 2010 you may as well play that instead. Playing as a Racer is where the game shows it's ugly head. You need to buy everything as a Racer. When you finish an event and earn points, you need to go to a hideout to bank them, else if you get busted, you lose them. And the thing is, if you stay on the road for longer than 5 minutes, your chances of getting caught are greatly increased. So either you go into a hideout to bank your points after an event and endure long loading screens. Or earn more points by staying on the road longer, but get busted by superhuman cops, making all that hard work go down the drain. Speaking of the superhuman cops, I meant what I said by that. They have superhuman sense, as when you think you're escaping, suddenly they continue the pursuit, though they are nowhere to be seen. They can teleport as they can spawn in front of you. They have super strength because they can take a quarter of your health wheras you can barely take out a tenth of theirs. And they are psychic too because they'll chase you for no reason to arrest you for a crime you didn't commit (yet). Plus, the game still progresses after you complete a Speedlist, even if you get busted, but you still lose the points! Why can't I progress but not keep the points? Because of that, I am severely behind in my vehicles and upgrades and I get my rear-bumper kicked because of that. So you're saying the only way to get a chance at my Rivals is to make back the points I lost? No thanks. The 4 points I give to the game are because it looks kinda pretty. Yet I should have used that against the game because looks deceive. Thanks a lot EA.

Air Conflicts: Secret Wars4
Jan 1, 2018
Honestly, I don’t know why because, aside from the poor voice-acting, it was actually great. And if the plotholes weren’t there, it could have been an awesome story (instead it’s just ok). I see many people playing this game with the Arcade setting and on Easy difficulty, hence the mediocre reviews. But set the controls to Simulation (which isn’t that in the strictest sense – it just lets you roll manually) and the difficulty to Ace and you have a great flying on par with Ace Combat and Blazing Angels. Now came this so-called “Ultimate Edition”. It surprised me because 1) there was never any DLC for this game and 2) it seems it did so well that it warranted a re-release. So I thought that this edition would take advantage of the PS4 and have improved graphics. And have re-done voice acting and solved its bugs. Boy, was I fool. There is ZERO improvement. The awful voice-acting is still there. And the graphics? They are MUCH WORSE. On the 1st level, the shadows were either gone or minimal. The grass is gone and the plane textures are less detailed. I will go so far as to say the graphics are from the PS2. This is a disgrace to the PS4! How did this happen?! If you had money to re-release this, then you certainly have money to redo the voice acting and improve the graphics. But what of the gameplay? Thankfully, it’s still the same. It’s still fun (again if you have it to Ace and Simulation). So this is sadly just another game that caught the “good game, bad remaster” syndrome. It’s things like these that makes me weary of remasters. Many devs make them just to get a quick-buck. We get promises of improvements only to find the exact opposite. DO: get this game for the PS3, 360 or on Steam for $6. DON’T: get the PS4 version; only get it IF you don’t have a PS3 or 360 and your laptop is crappy. And even then, the PC version runs well on Integrated Graphics so when I say crappy, I mean “it-can-only-run-Solitaire” crappy.

Air Conflicts: Secret Wars8
Jan 1, 2018
To those who give this a poor review, I have a hint: set the difficulty to "Ace" and set the controls to "Simulation". 90% of the time when watching videos of this game, I see people playing on lower difficulties in Arcade mode. When you do that, the plane turns in a perfect 90 degree turn, and your machine guns lock on to the enemy. No wonder this game got a bad impression. But if you set it to "Ace" and "Simulation", then this game will truly shine. It's on the same level as Ace Combat, Blazing Angels, Wings of Prey and War Thunder, so if you like those games, you will like this. Of course, Simulation does not mean something like DCS or IL-2, it means you just have to pitch and roll to manuever. Yes, you have unlimited ammo and fuel, no matter what. And the story is surprisely decent and somewhat original. You play as Dorothy "Dee Dee" Dubrec, a mercenary pilot. Initially she doesn't care about the war but slowly she finds meaning in fighting as opposed to fighting for just money. (Hey, it's called "Secret Wars" for a reason!). She will also learn about her father in the previous war, so you will also have WWI flashback missions too. It's a shame that the voice acting is poor and there are a number of plot-holes, otherwise it would have a great story, on par with the Ace Combat games. It's $5 now (and it was a budget game in the first place), so if you like flying games, BUY THIS GAME. If you wait for a sale, then that's just theft :D

Need for Speed: Most Wanted6
Dec 28, 2017
Gosh, I really want to know why some reviewers gave this game a 9. Or an 8. Or even a 7. I got this for free from Origin’s On The House program and I’m glad I did. I wouldn’t pay more than $5 for this. As you know by now, it’s nothing like the original Most Wanted. It’s made by Criterion, the devs of Burnout, so many say that this is a sequel to “Burnout Paradise”. That, too, is nonsense. It’s not Most Wanted and it certainly isn’t Paradise. So what is it? Well, you just drive and race and repeat. There’s no incentive to race because all the cars are unlocked from the start. Just find it on the map, get in, and it’s yours. No seriously. Not even 1 hour will pass and already you’re driving top-tier vehicles like a Lamborghini or a Koenigsegg. So there’s no reason to drive the lower-tier cars, and there’s no sense of accomplishment. That said, each vehicle has unique events, at least that’s what I thought at first. By the time you max out your 4th vehicle, you’ll be racing the same events. Cop chases are not interesting either. Which is weird as they were intense in Hot Pursuit 2010. There's also no real penalty for getting caught either. So what happened here? And Fairhaven City is so small I saw everything in a couple hours. Paradise City is also small, but it was also fun. Fairhaven? Not so much. What gave this game high scores? Online. But guess what? It’s DEAD. So why bother? If you’re making a game whose selling point is online, it has to be damn good that people will be playing it for years to come. But nobody’s online. As said already, it was free on Origin and if you got it and it’s sitting in your library, give this game a couple hours, it’s still kinda fun. But the promotion has ended, so don’t bother. If you want to play it so badly, find it for like no more than $5.

I want to say that this game is a strategy and shooter combined, but that's not a totally true statement. In fact, this is more strategy than shooter. It's only a shooter in that your camera always chases the team you are controlling (or commanding) and have free control in throwing or firing grenades. But it works very well. And I like how the tactics you use resemble US Army doctrine (though can someone who served in the Army verify this?). Plus, your characters can be real funny too. My only complaint is that sometimes when one of your soldiers gets incapacitated, they fly and spin. But this is a lovely game. It's been a decade since this was released and I cannot find a game like it.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault8
Nov 18, 2017
The first Medal of Honor for the PC. No longer being held back by the limitations of the PS1, EA was able to make a fully authentic WWII experience. I can see why this was loved back in the day. Much of what you see in Call of Duty can be found here. If there was no MOH, there would be no COD. But...this game shows its age in all aspects. It has been overshawdowed by its rival, COD, just a year later. There's no aiming down sights or even a zoom feature. Your crosshairs don't change when moving, and you can't swap weapons. That's not to say that no fun can be had from this game even today, just make sure you aren't expecting what you saw in more modern WWII games, or even from the first COD. One thing to note is that I underestimated this game's difficulty. I thought I could breeze through the game on the Medium difficulty. Boy was I a fool. I should have known that "Easy" was the normal back then. The game was quite frustrating as a result, and one particular level was just hell. There were also times you had to memorize where each enemy would spawn to get through. Please, do yourself a favor and play this game on Easy, even if you think you're an FPS veteran. If you can look past the graphics and the fact that Call of Duty made every aspect better, then a play-through is worth it.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst8
Aug 31, 2017
A year later, how has this game changed? The mediocre reviews has made me steered away from this game beacuse many bugs and glitches were reported. Nobody released a completely finished game anymore (certainly not EA), so now it's either they release patches for it or they leave it altogther. Suprisingly, EA and DICE has not abandoned it (especially that they were working on Battlefield 1 around Catalyst's release), as I have not encountered any gamebreaking glitch. So, is the game good? Yes. Is it better than the original? Yes and no. Gameplay-wise, they fixed everything. The combat is so much better. Remember how awkward it was to use guns from the last game? Well, they removed the use of guns altogether, which is a love-it-or-hate-it point. And while the open-world is at best mildly-interesting, it does give you lots of freedom, unlike the last game, which was all about moving from point A to point B. The negatives? Well, the story is longer, but still not very good. It has quite an anti-capitalist stance, which is ironic because the stuff you see here are more likely to happen in a socialist society than a capitalist one. And this is published by EA, which clearly likes to take advantage of capitalism. Also, this was marketed as a prequel, but it's more of a reboot. Even the storyline was somewhat similar. Also, the sci-fi setting shows that this time period is more technologically advanced than the previous game (which is said to be in a later time period). So how the heck did they get from using unmanned drones and lasers to Blackhawk choppers and MP5s? Is this a prequel or reboot? These problems prevented it from getting a 9 (and even a 10). And the theme song is "Warning Call" by CHVRCHES. It fits the game, just as how "Still Alive" (not the Portal one) fits the last game. Technical-wise, it plays great on Medium on my GTX 960M. If you have left the game or held off buying it, I suggest you play it now. It's not worth full price (really, is there any game besides MGSV worth $60 nowadays?), but it's fun, which is what games are all about.

This **** interesting. I've been playing games like Ace Combat and Blazing Angels for years, yet somehow I can't seem to get in this game. It's either too easy or too difficult. If I play on Normal, I take down the Germans and Japanese with no effort. But on hard, it's very frustrating. I haven't finished it, and I probably won't. It's not a bad game, ok? But it seems that it's not suited for air combat vets like me. It's funny because I like any game about planes. Anyway, this game isn't fun for me but can be fun for others. But honestly, you're better off playing Blazing Angels or Birds of Prey.

Well...here is the long awaited conclusion to the great MGS series. And this is really the last one as Kojima has left Konami. Sorry Konami, MGS is only MGS with Kojima. So is this the conclusion we wanted? ****'s a good conclusion, but not a great one. First. the gameplay. It's the best in the series. It's like Peace Walker improved in almost every aspect. Micromanagement, recruiting soldiers, etc. etc. Also, I love how the enemy learns your style of play. Like to do missions at night? They'll start wearing NVGs. Like to use the sniper rifle? They'll start wearing helmets (and send they're own snipers too!). It blows PW out of the **** least in gameplay. Now for the negatives. And that is in, you guessed it: the story. It is poorly-paced. Hope you enjoyed the first hour of the game, as that's the only intense moment of the game for a while. You'll have to do 15-20 missions before the story picks up again. By this moment you lose interest. This is so unlike MGS. Plus the bulk of the story is told via cassette tapes, so unless you listen to them, you'll have no idea what's going on. They are interesting, but I don't understand why they couldn't be cutscenes. I understand the controversy of this MGSV as we expected more from Kojima, but it still has its moments. And there will be a moment that will blow you're mind. A moment only Kojima can pull off. Some will like it. Some won't. And the **** fictional. Really? This was one of the things which made MGS appealing to me. I was looking forward to using Cold War weapons in the FOX engine. Granted, they're all based on real-world weapons but still, the immersion is ruined. Despite all the problems, I would be lying if I gave this game anything below a 9. It is worthy to be played, especially for the MGS fans. Was it unfinished? Yes. Could it be better? Absolutely. But still, MGSV does bridge the gap to the very first Metal Gear. Granted, it's may not be the bridge we wanted, and it should have been built better, but at least you can cross it. And you'll still have fun doing so!

I feel bad giving this game such a low score. I mean it had potential. Props to the devs for releasing patches for it, but IT'S STILL BROKEN. I played Air Conflicts: Secret Wars, and it was AWESOME. So what the heck happened here? Both plane and helicopter controls are stiff and sensitive. Oh, and in Instant Action mode, you destroy the enemy aircraft by shooting the ground (LOL). Seriously, play something else like Ace Combat (for planes) or Apache Air Assault (for choppers).

Homefront: The Revolution7
Jun 23, 2017
To all who gave this game a bad review on release, you probably had every right to. I wouldn't know its initial state as I bought it exactly a year after release. But either way, please consider what you've said and revisit it, because Homefront: The Revolution is a good game. Yes, the devs should have delayed the game, but give them props for sticking out when others would have abandoned it outright. The game is more or less an urban Far Cry with North Koreans. So if you love FC, you'll love this. Capturing strikepoints (i.e. outposts) is quite fun. Some even require you to solve puzzles. I also love the in-game customization mechanic, yo can convert you assault rifle to an LMG and so on. Oh, and no regenerating health, either. And AI is competent: the KPA are NOT happy to see you and they will show it. You can, and will, die. A lot. And I'm suprised at the detail they have put in the indoor areas. You can enter almost every building, especially in the Red Zone. So don't be fooled by the reviews. The story is, well, good also. The characters are also decent. What I hated, however, was the backstory. Who came up with idea of having the US military use North Korean technology? As if North Korea wouldn't turn them off with the push of a button. Oh wait...they did. Seriously, the backstory of the original Homefront was not only better, but believable. It's the only good thing about that game. Seriously, watch it. Graphic-wise, it's neither ugly nor pretty. And it performs well, too. I played it on medium on my GTX 960M. What I hated is that sometimes when you recruit Resistance members, they occasionally get stuck and/or block your way.. This can be solved by dismissing and re-recruiting them. Another problem is that sometimes KPA soldiers can spawn out-of-nowhere. Yes, they can be gunned down relatively easily, but still... I have not tried the DLC yet, but I heard it's good. I'll get it when it's on sale. So, is it the game good? YES. Not great, but worth the price now. Is the game fixed? YES. But please devs, either fix your game before release, or don't release at all. Do I want a sequel? YES. And please learn from your mistakes.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered5
Apr 2, 2017
I was ready to give this game a 10, but recent developments prevented me from doing so. The first sign was how this game was tied to Infinite Warfare. But around Christmas last year, my brother found the Legacy Edition for $60. Not a bad deal. I mean, you get two full games for $60. First, the good, and that's the campaign. They made the best campaign of the series even better. It's like you can really improve on perfection. It's like a time machine back to 2007. Beating this on Veteran made it even better. But that's really where the good ends. Multiplayer is where it's all messed up. Think you'll relive the same nostalgia but in next-gen? Think again. Activision thought it was a good idea to bring the stuff in current CODs like lag and bad hit detection back here. And you what else they brought here too? Supply drops! First, they said it's just cosmetic. Then, they introduced guns that weren't in the original **** supply drop exclusives. That's right, MWR has become pay-to-win. The final straw? RESELLING the Variety Map pack. For $15 (the original was $10). After that, I quit. Do you know of any REMASTERED game that does this? The Last of Us doesn't. Batman: Return to Arkham doesn't. "But you get some supply drops! That's why it cost more!" you whine. Yeah, supply drops that WAS NOT IN THE ORIGINAL. Sigh, the extent COD fanboys defend this. Want to play COD 4 so bad? Either: buy a used PS3 and COD4 (which costs the same as getting the full experience on MWR), or just get the PC version. Don't buy MWR, even if it goes standalone. If you do, just play the campaign, the only good thing that's there.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell8
Jun 21, 2015
My very first Splinter Cell game. No, I didn't play this when I was a kid, I just started the series and plan to play them in order. Talk about being late! Back then I heard this game was aimed to be a Metal Gear Solid 2 killer. Ha! Not even close. Splinter Cell is a great game, just not on par with MGS. As you may already know, you are Sam Fisher, a secret agent of Third Echelon, a section of the NSA. A coup has occurred in Georgia, and a man named Kombayn Nikoladze has come into power. The CIA sends in two agents to see if this guy is up to no good. Suddenly they lose contact. That's where you come in. The story is decent and so is the voice acting. Music also sets the mood too. Obviously, stealth is a must in this game. Why? Because #1: you have limited ammo. #2: Sam can get killed easily, even on the easier difficulty and #3: setting off too many alarms will cause the mission to end. This game does not hold your hand, you have to figure how to proceed by yourself. What I like about this game is the use of light and darkness to proceed. There are cases where you can be nose-to-nose with an enemy yet because you're in pitch darkness, he wouldn't notice you. Note, that's an exaggeration, he'll notice if you get too close, so don't actually do it :D Of course, there are faults. One is the melee attack. There's JUST one: an elbow strike. You can knock out enemies from behind with it, but the real problem is using it face-to-face. When you're sneaking from behind and they turn around and spot you (which will happen very often), it takes two strikes to dispatch them and by the time you do that, they pumped 2-3 bullets (more if it's an assault rifle), bringing down a good chunk of health. Another thing is the aiming. For some reason, this highly-trained NSA agent cannot aim his pistol right. As in, even if you're crouched and still, you can still miss. Not a big deal since you're not supposed to kill too much anyway, but it's a problem when you trying to shoot lights out. What I do is that I quicksave before I shoot. The SC-20K is MUCH better. Not only is it more accurate, but you can do a lot of stuff with it, like sniping, shooting non-lethal darts and sleeping gas. And the last thing is once you beat the game, that's it. Fortunately, it's worth a second playthrough. Try it on Hard. This game has done a good job of introducing me to the SC series. It's worth the low price now. I want to play Pandora Tommorrow now but it's not on Steam. Please Ubisoft, fix whatever problems it has and re-release it.

Enemy Front4
Jun 10, 2015
This game could have been something if more effort was put into it. There are plenty of faults with it, even for a budget title. Enemy Front explores the Polish Resistance, something which hasn't been explored in WW2 games. You are an American reporter writing about what's happening there, only to find yourself caught up in the war. Yet near the end of the game, you find yourself in Germany destroying factories and secret weapons singlehandedly. Like what are you, a reporter or a supersoldier? Voice acting is also bad, but this, the story and your character can be forgiven in a budget game. The gameplay is the main problem. Level design is good and mostly open-ended, you can tackle objectives in almost anyway you want. Stealth or guns-blazing? You decide. But the game gives no encouragement for stealth. I mean, you can mow down enemies easily anyway, so why do stealth? It's better to do guns-blazing. What the game should have done is to have a skill tree, where you can decide whether you want stealth abilities (like quieter movement) of combat abilities (like increased health), like Far Cry 3. And the AI is downright stupid. Every German will charge after you. They have little to no sense of hiding behind cover. Frame-rates are also a problem. This game is a rental at best. After playing through, you may not want to play it again. And even if you do, just only the levels where you fight alongside the resistance.

Now I see why people didn't really like Homefront. Don't get me wrong, it's NOT a bad game, but it's a disappointing one, especially when you see how much THQ advertised and promoted this game. So what's brought this game down? The singleplayer. First, it's awefully short; you can beat it in 4 hours. But the story, wow, there's such a cool background and the characters are totally relatable. And that's what annoyed me the most. It has such a good premise that you wonder why isn't it any longer. And the gameplay. It's like a typical military shooter. The problem is that it holds your hand WAY TOO MUCH. For example, you'll have to take out certain enemies, and there's an icon on it saying "SHOOT". Well, what else would I do? Blow a kiss to it? The problems of the singleplayer outweighed it's benefits. Multiplayer fares better. The PC servers are still up, and there's at least one full server on afternoons. It's like a combination of Battlefield and COD. You can use points in-game to purchase things like armor and even vehicles. Maps are quite good too. Ground Control, the main mode, has you capturing certain points, like Domination in Battlefield, only that you can move up to a certain area if one team dominates it, like in the Rush mode in Battlefield. In summary, Homefront is full-priced game with budget-game quality. Buy it on sale.

Just one of those games that are great yet got crucified by reviewers. I feel that people didn't appreciate the game for what it was. EA released this for free on the PS Store last year, so it was finally my chance to play it. I wish I forked out some money for it because you can see a lot of love was put into the game. First the graphics, they were ahead of their time. It's on par with Battlefield 3. And the gameplay, you feel like a real Runner, and disarming enemies is so awesome. However, I suggest you turn Runner Vision off, it holds your hand too much. And the soundtrack, wow, so surreal. There weren't many reused soundtracks, each chapter has its own. And the parts that reused soundtracks were fitting. My two main criticisms are that it's short and the story didn't make much sense to me. If only the story made sense, then I wouldn't criticize the game for it's shortness. But overall, this game deserved to be played. You can't be a gamer and have not played this game at least once.

It's been a year since BF4 came out and I finally got hands on it. This is due to the many glitches that were plaguing the game, especially multiplayer. And in the midst of all this, EA was releasing DLC after DLC for the game. How can you do that and not fix the fundamentals. Is it any wonder why I didn't buy the game on release? But it really paid off, because after a year, I not only got a fixed game, but I got the Premium Edition. So for all who are laughing at me because I'm late to the party, I spent half of what many of you spent for the full game and all DLC. Joke is on you. But on to the game. First the campaign. Playing BF for the campaign is like going to an amusement park just for the popcorn; it's not the main feature. At the same time however, BF is about being a frontline soldier, and here, you're a special ops member. It doesn't fit. I finished this game on hard and never played it again. Now to the online. Yes, it's almost like BF3 (yet better), but they really did some work. First the Levolution. It's where the environment changes and it feels like a new map. Sometimes it's player-triggered and sometimes it's the weather. Some command posts (usually B) are on structures and can be destroyed. What I didn't like however are the battlepacks. Sometimes they can unlock attachments way too early. I know there are items you can only unlock with packs but many are the same as the default attachments. They look different, but acts the same. Like for example, the default red-dot sight you unlock by XP is Russian-made; the Chinese red-dot can only be unlocked with a battlepack but it's possible to get it before its Russian counterpart, removing the need to unlock the default red dot. See what I mean? In the end though, the game is fun. If you like BF3, then you'll LOVE this.

Dec 22, 2014
I know you're reading this, EA and DICE. See this lovely game called Star Wars:Battlefront II? This should be an example of what you ought to do in Battlefront 2015. This doubled the content of Battlefront 1 and improved everything. THAT is what you must do. Give us more so we don't have to play Battlefront II again. Take all maps from this and Frostbite them. If you have to delay it to do it, fine. If we have to wait for more years, fine. And look EA, if you ever decide to pull half the maps and modes from the game and sell it to us as DLC, if you push the game to release too early and the game is a glitchfest, if you remove bots, then I'll just stick to the good ol' Battlefront II; we have graphic mods for it. And it still has online because of GameRanger.

Amazing game. Me and my friends played this game on the PS2 endlessly, particularly the stunt mini-games, which are still hilarious. Now I bought this off Steam and I have no regrets. Because I'm not only reliving memories, but also that I can't find today's equivalent of this game (unless you consider Next Car Game: Wreckfest, also made by Bugbear). It's better than many racing games today. It's truly a one-of-a-kind. Not only is there racing, but there is demolition derby, where you wreck other racers, and stunt mini-games, where you eject the driver out of the car and use him/her depending on the game. For example, in bowling, HE/SHE has to hit the pins! The environment is also very destructible. My only gripe with this game is the difficulty; it's one of the hardest racing games I've played. I lose control of my car many times, but that's probably just me. And you start off with cars that look like crap. Seriously, the initial cars are built with junk parts; just so you know. And as you progress, you get great looking cars. And it's $10 on Steam so you have no excuse to not get it.

Sniper Elite V27

Got this free on Steam. You should have done so too. This isn't entirely realistic, but it's one of those games which strikes a balance between realism and fun. It's challenging too. The story, however, is not very engaging. You are an OSS agent in WWII trying to assassinate German scientists before the Russians can get them, so not only will you fight German soldiers, but also Soviet soldiers. And there's was a lot of room to make a decent story; you are a secret agent carrying out missions that "never happened" after all. But anyway, on the the gameplay itself. As said already, it's great. Since you are a sniper, close combat is discouraged, and even though you have an SMG, it has limited ammo. For the best experience, I recommend you set the enemy skill to "Veteran", realism to "limited", and tactical assistance "off". Lower settings to me make the game too easy. That said, you have to praise Rebellion for making customizable difficulties. And the main feature of the game: the X-ray cam. It show just what a sniper bullet can do to your body. Can be quite satisfying, especially when fighting difficult enemies. This is cinematics done right. Fortunately, if you are squeamish, you can turn it off. Also, never underestimate a single foe: he can kill you easily. Speaking of the enemies, while they can pose a challenge, the AI could use some improving. This is evident when you see German and Soviet soldiers fighting each other; they will have no problem trying to kill you, but they seem to not cope well when fighting each other. The campaign has a decent length: 8-10 hours. And a second play-through is worth it. Multiplayer is quite fun too, you are all snipers. Element of surprise and awareness play an even bigger role here. So do I recommend this game? Yes. But you should have got it when it was free. Right now, it's $30, and I don't think that's a good price. If you didn't get a free copy, wait for a sale: this game is worth $20 to me.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown9
Oct 18, 2014
I own both the PC and console versions, and the PC version is obviously superior. Now before you think I'm here to laugh at console owners, I'm not. I'm just simply saying that if you have to choose between PC and console versions, go get the PC one. Why? Because the load times are shorter and there's not much lag in combat. Lag isn't bad on consoles, but having the PC version, it's smoother and less laggy so I'm moving to that and plan to sell my PS3 copy. Plus, on low settings, the PC version looks like the consoles. Other than those things, the game is the same on all platforms. Again, get the PC version if you have to choose between the two. If for some reason you can't get or play the PC version, then certainly get it on whatever platform you have. I mean, it's also on Android/iOS too, which has the same game but simplified graphics.

I have never played the original XCOM games, I just downloaded the demo, not knowing that the XCOM series existed. I got so addicted to the demo, I replayed it several times. Then I got the full game for Christmas. This game defines fun. The story may seem shallow, but guess what, that why you must create your own story. I mean, you can customize your own soldiers, even their names. Try naming them after your loved ones, and you'll get attached to them. That's the thing about XCOM, it doesn't trivialize death; it even has a memorial for your lost soldiers. Haven't played multiplayer, but singleplayer alone justifies the price tag. There are some lags here and there but they're minor. Come on, buy it NOW.

B-17 Gunner: Air War Over Germany3
Oct 18, 2014
Again, this game was was only fun to me as a child. No longer. The game is repetitive as hell. Sure there's some satisfaction from downing a fighter, but it doesn't last long. And even when you fail a mission, you proceed tot he next one. I mean, really? Come on, what kind of challenge is that?! Also, I've never seen German planes open fire on me, and you gunners seem to just die randomly. Game don't have to be realistic to be fun, but this game is neither realistic nor fun. Get IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 instead, where you not only can be a bomber gunner, but also fly one too, and with mods, control a B-17. It's both realistic and fun.

Command & Conquer: Generals - Zero Hour9
Oct 18, 2014
Ah, the good old days when you can have fun with the base game and expansions were just icing on the cake. Zero Hour is an example. Nowadays, base games are just half-baked and instead of baking it more, devs try to put icing, which makes the cake nothing but gooey crap. Anyway, on to the review. You get more units, and a new feature: generals challenge, where you select a general with his/her own unique units and battle another AI general. They haven't fix the bugs from the last game, which is disappointing but the game is still fun. Like the base game, ZH is only available with the C&C Collection. I know you're reading this EA: if you want to return C&C to its former glory, look at Generals, do the exact thing, clean out the bugs and when you release DLC, it should be a fresh coat of paint like ZH. I want to see what you intend to do with C&C now. I'm glad you didn't release that Pay-2-Win crap as a C&C title last year.

Oct 18, 2014
I've played better 90's games. There's no reason for me to make that statement regardless if this is a 2002 budget shooter. There are only 5 weapons: a knife, a pistol, MP5, M4 and AK47. And the AI is dumber than a post. And you don't work with a team, yet in reality, Navy SEALs certainly don't work alone. This game isn't worth the time and effort to look for. It's that bad. Play Conflict: Desert Storm instead, or even SOCOM, where you actually play as a Navy SEAL team.

Boy, is this game fun! This is the only C&C game that I've ever played. I haven't played the others because the futuristic (Tiberium series) and the alternate history (Red Alert series) themes somehow don't excite me. This is the only game in the franchise that has the modern warfare theme. You play as either the USA, China or the antagonist, the GLA (Global Liberation Army). AI is very challenging and even frustrating, but frustrating enough that will make you come back. Have never played online, but you can play with bots in skirmish modes and that alone is fun, so imagine online play (which is still possible thanks to GameRanger). My only complaint is that sometimes your units don't defend themselves when attacked. Nevertheless, play this game. Right now, it's only available with the C&C Collection. And despite what I said about not liking the themes of Red Alert and Tiberium, I might give them a chance one day, if the gameplay is like Generals.

Oct 13, 2014
To be honest, I did have fun with this game because I was just a child back then. Now that I'm older, I have pretty much lost my rose-coloured glasses. Repetitive is the word to describe this. Enemies lack in variety, and so do locations (like about 3). Sure it's Pearl Harbour and there's not many places to go, but the game doesn't really have to be all centered around Pearl Harbour. Even back in 2001, this game is hard to recommend and it's still hard to recommend because there are similar games like this on the web or on Android or iPhone which are even more fun and for free. Don't waste your time.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 37
Oct 12, 2014
I'm seeing extremism here. The game isn't bad, so stop giving it bad scores. Yet, this is almost the same game from 2009 (MW2), so it's definitely not a game to be awarded Game of the Year or something. The story takes place right after MW2 left off. Most of the time, you play as Yuri, a member of TF141 and Frost, a Delta Force operative. WWIII has broken out, and it's up to you to find the man responsible for it, Makarov. Soap and Captain Price returns, and since is the final chapter in the MW series, you'll see how it all concludes. Honestly, only those who played the previous games will enjoy it. Everyone else will have no idea what's going on. Multiplayer is the same thing from previous games. You have now "Support" streaks, where if you die, you don't lose your streak; it carries over between deaths. The problem is that it's said to help your team, but one "Support" streak is a Stealth bomber, which hurts the other team. That's supposed to be in the "Assault" streaks, which is the traditional killstreak structure. Nothing else much here. What I did like though is "Survival" mode, where you must fend off waves of enemies on various maps. I spent most of my time, here. But this wasn't enough to justify the $60 price tag when it came out. Call of Duty does the same thing year after year; it's not worth paying $60, but now it's cheap; a new one is now like $20. I think that a perfect price for this game, so go get it.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes7
Oct 2, 2014
First, I'd like to say that the way this game is marketed is setting a very concerning trend. As you may already know, the main storyline (which is a prologue to The Phantom Pain) takes about 2 hours, and all side missions in total takes about roughly the same, so that like 4 hours in total. And it's currently being sold for $30 (digital version is $20). This is clearly a poor value. And this is done by the great Hideo Kojima, of all people. Seriously? This is concerning because will this be a current trend in the future? Splitting up games in pieces sold separately and overcharging them? Who's to say that other companies won't do the same, and maybe even worse? (I'm looking at you EA). Thankfully, I got this for $10 and that should have been the initial price. Now onto the game itself. What I stated above is really the only bad thing about the game. Everything else about the game is exceptional. It's Metal Gear after all! Wow. I found the missions to be highly replayable. (yes, it's replayable, but that doesn't justify the little content). Just about everything is amazing. You can complete your objectives in anyway you want. If this is what is coming in The Phantom Pain, than this is definitely a Day-1 purchase for me. My only gripe is that the weapons and military equipment are fictional. MGS games in the past have used real-world weapons, so why now use fictional ones, especially that the game is set in the 1970s? Oh, enemy soldiers are a lot smarter, too. Now onto the story. Only MGS fans will properly enjoy it. Story-wise, it's not so much a prologue to the TPP as it is a epilogue to MGS: Peace Walker. Paz and Chico have been captured and it's up to Big Boss to save them. What I didn't like is Big Boss's new voice actor, Kiefer Sutherland. He's not bad, but I really miss David Hayter. The Japanese voice actor is the same as previous games, so why couldn't it be the same for the English versions? In conclusion, Ground Zeroes is an exceptional game with poor value. As a game, it gets a 9.5. For value, it gets a 5. So I averaged the score for it to be a 7. As stated already, I got it for $10, so you should do the same. But don't forget that I'm surprised at how this game was marketed. You're better than that, Kojima.

For those who like flying and helicopters, you'll love this game. Make no mistake, this game is meant for those whose have patience. Once you realize that you have to fly the Apache like a real helicopter, then you'll be having a blast. Too bad the campaign is relatively short, but there are extra missions you can tackle, which are very challenging. There's also a free flight mode where you can fly 3 Apache variants plus a UAV copter and a Hind. As for online, it's dead, not a soul is there. Back when it was released, $60 was kinda too much, but now it's cheap, so if you love Apaches or flying in general, grab this game.

Red Faction: Armageddon7
Sep 10, 2014
After playing this game, I have played all the RF games, and I can now tell you which one is the worst. It's NOT Red Faction: Armageddon. The worst RF game goes to Red Faction II. Seriously, Armageddon is better than I thought it would be. The story is ok somewhat, but it's better than in RF:G. You play as Darius Mason, grandson of Alec Mason from RF:G, and he has more personality than his grandfather. He can be hilarious at times, especially when interacting with his S.A.M. (Situational Awareness Module) A.I. The theme of revolution is still here, although not as it was in previous games, you'll see what I mean. The campaign last for roughly 15 hours. As for gameplay, it's really fun. Geo-Mod is still here. My main gripe is the removal of open-world. That's really a step back. It could easily have been implemented here. An underground open-world? That would have been great. But I like the new weapons such as the Magnet Gun. It allows you to latch magnets between two objects making one move towards the other. Upgrades are nice too. Taking out the baddies is really fun. What I really didn't like is how the game holds your hand. Not only do you have an objective marker, but also an arrowed path telling you where to go, leaving no room to find where to go on your own. And during boss fights, there is an icon telling you where you shoot, such as weak spots. Too-much hand-holding! As for Infestation mode, I haven't really played it yet, but it's a Horde mode, where you fight endless waves of enemies. Sound fun. In the end, RF:A isn't bad, but it could have been better. Back when it was released, it would be worth a rental, but buying it now wouldn't be a bad idea, since it's relatively cheap nowadays. Now, Nordic games has control of the franchise, and they have promised a new game. Well, let us see how that turns out...

This is Treyarch's first CoD title. For those who want to know why Treyarch is loved more than Infinity Ward, play this game. The story is one of the most touching and epic WWII stories I've ever experienced. You're squadmates have their own unique personalities, and they can be quite hilarious at times. You really care for them. I just wish the characters in present CoD games are like this, instead of cliched, gung-ho characters. Gameplay is quite awesome too. You really feel like a soldier. And the graphics were good for a 2005 game. Pick this classic game up. I hope there will be an HD remake of this great game.

If you were born in the 90s, then you must have heard about the "Army Men" series. If not, then it's a series of video games where plastic soldiers are fighting each other. You may also have heard about how terrible the games were, but there were a few exceptions. And the Air Attack series is one of them. Haven't played the first one, but this game is not only not bad, but actually a good game in its own right. First, you're flying a toy army helicopter. Isn't that cool? I mean, attacking the evil tan army, insects and other toys in a toy Cobra, Chinook, Osprey or Apache is awesome. Gameplay is just fun and challenging. The story is nothing spectacular, but it was okay. Find this game. You'll love it. Somebody better make an HD remake of this underrated gem.

Red Faction II5
Aug 26, 2014
Having played the first Red Faction, this was disappointing. This game is Red Faction in name only. First, the plot. It's completely goofy and too light-hearted, unlikely the gritty and dark story of the first. In the first game, you were an ordinary miner who probably had no combat experience. Here, you are a super soldier. The plot twist you'll see in this game was just pointless. But that's the least of our problems. Here's comes my biggest gripe: lack of Geo-Mod. Seriously? The very thing that defined Red Faction is dumbed-down, almost non-existent. You can only destroy a couple of walls; that's it. This is inexcusable, especially that most of the game takes place within cities and urban areas. Geo-Mod would have been perfect here. The gameplay itself is okay, I guess. And no online multiplayer? Why, when the original RF had? You can play with bots, sure, but online should have been included alongside. As a RF game, it fails. I'm glad I got this for 99 cents. Maybe you should do the same. You want real Red Faction action? Get Red Faction 1 and Red Faction: Guerrilla.

Medal of Honor7
Aug 23, 2014
This game is not as bad as critics say. It's better than I thought it would be. The singleplayer story isn't full of twists and turns, it's more like a tribute to US and NATO troops. Keep it mind as you play the story, many of what you see is happening right now in Afghanistan, especially when you switch to play as a Ranger (most of the time you play as a Navy SEAL). You could feel as though you were there. For that, the singleplayer was great. My gripe about it is that it can be finished in 6 hours. And I was playing on the hardest difficulty. Was the game that easy, or is it that I'm good at first-person shooters? The multiplayer, well, that's a different story. I don't know how it has been in the past, but right now, I don't like it. You frequently get spawn-killed and everyone seems to spam grenade and rocket launchers. Some say, it's a combination of Call of Duty and Battlefield. From what I played, I still haven't decided if that's a good or bad thing. In the end, where CoD and Battlefield excels in multiplayer, MoH excels in singleplayer. Having been a fan of MoH since 2002, I don't think MoH was meant for MP. Back when the game first came out, I would definitely recommend a rental for the singleplayer. Now that the game is cheap, it's worth buying, so you can check the multiplayer and judge for yourself, but, as I've said, MoH was always a SP game. One day, I'll check on MoH:Warfighter, and see how that game was so bad, EA is putting the series on hold.

Mass Effect 3 could have been the best of the series, but unfortunately, I have to give it to ME2. That is NOT to say that ME3 is bad; it is a MUST play, and its ending is quite great, once you have the Extended Cut. But the reason why I say ME2 is better is because it's give you more freedom in speaking, which is one of the things which made the series spectacular in the first place. In ME3, while you you still make the major decisions, I feel like I've lost too much freedom in deciding what Shepard says. Combat mechanics, however, are better in ME3. But in any case, get this game. Get ALL of the Mass Effect games.

If you didn't choose this game. then shame on you; you just gave up a good opportunity to experience this great game for free. Now you better go and find this game. Seriously, this is a great PS exclusive. It has the darkest superhero/villain story I've had ever experienced. You are Cole, a ordinary delivery boy who got superpowers after an usual freak incident. Now you have powers which you can use to either help or hurt others. Karma moments are frequently black and white, and there's just one that is grey and grey, but I won't spoil it. As you may know, it's an open-world game, and I love those games. Your powers are fun to use, and it plays like a third-person shooter, only that you use lightning instead of guns, which to me, is a good thing. Ace Combat Infinity8
Jun 16, 2014
I've been a fan of Ace Combat for 10 years, and when I heard the announcement of Infinity, I got super excited. But when I heard it was also F2P, I got worried. More so because of the fuel system they proposed. Now that it's out, I gave it a spin; after all it's free. It was much better than I thought it would be. The fuel system is not that bad. Here a little explaination: you have two types of fuel: Supplied and Stocked. Supplied is the fuel given to you periodically. One unit is supplied every 4 hours. You can hold up to a max of 3 units. Stocked has no limits. You can store as much Stocked as you want. This is the fuel you get from purchases or by doing challenges. There's really no shortage of challenges, and should you nearly exhaust your challenges, there's one that can be completed every 24 hours. Now on the game itself. This is the AC game we know and love. No more Dogfight mode. Just the classic AC style of gameplay. The game is focused on online co-op, with 6 missions right now, but they'll release more soon. I love the emergency missions because this makes sure that every time you play a mission, it will never be the same as the last. There's a campaign mode too, but it's only 5 missions, and they'll add at least 3 more. You should buy the unlimited campaign ticket for $20, which will also give you 20 supplied fuel units. Alternatively, you can save up in-game credits to buy missions, but it can be tedious. Try this game. You have nothing to lose. It's free. You'll have fun.

Another awesome game in the underrated Ace Combat series. The game serves as a prequel to Ace Combat 5 (15 years prior). You play as a pilot only known as "Cipher", flying with his wingman "Solo Wing Pixy". The two mercenaries are hired to defend the nation of Ustio. The story is very good, although it could be developed more. If the campaign was as long as AC5, then we might have a powerful story. However, if you're really good, you can easily finish the campaign in 4 hours. But replayability is what keeps the game alive. There are branching paths. Depending on the amount of neutral targets you destroy or spare, there are certain aircraft you unlock and different enemies you face. Find this game, and play the crap out of it. And help us Ace Combat fans in convincing Namco Bandai to release an HD remake of 4,5 and Zero.

A completely underrated game. Flying games are usually frowned upon by everyone, but if only they played the Ace Combat series, then they'll regret any ill thought they have towards the flight genre. Of course there are flying games that are terrible, but the Ace Combat series is not only not terrible, but superb, especially Ace Combat 5. This has the most aircraft in the series to date (50+ licensed aircraft plus a few fictional ones). The story is also amazing. In an fictional version of Earth (we fans dub it "Strangereal"), a war has broken out between two countries, Osea and Yuktobania. The characters are quite memorable, and you'll experience a surprising plot twist. The gameplay is amazing and easy to play. The graphics, for a 10 year old game, is stunning. Got this off PSN for $4.99. It's worth every penny. This ought to take the title as the best racing game of last-gen. Just improve the lighting and anti-aliasing, and this will hold up to even today's games. Now there are complaints that the races are hard. Well, yes, they are quite challenging, but they CAN be beaten. Sometimes traffic will make things a pain but I've played harder games. The open-world of Los Angeles is so amazing and breath-taking, you will feel like your in LA. Also, the police can be a little frustrating, but it is possible to evade them. They make things more tense. And I love how most civilian cars are licensed. So get this amazing game. You won't be disappointed. Rockstar, I expect a Midnight Club game for PS4 and X1, you got that?

This and the Battlefront series are the greatest Star Wars games ever. Every other SW game is seemingly irrelevant compared to these two. As for KOTOR, the story is set 4000 years before the rise of the Galactic Empire. It has one of the greatest twists I have ever seen. If you say you're a Star Wars fan, but have not played this game, then you're not a true fan. Gameplay is also awesome, and you can choose whether to be aligned with the Light Side, or the Dark Side. This game was on sale on the PSN store, and so I bought it. Boy, this is one of the most challenging games I've ever played. Then again, this is my first R6 game, and I'm used to shooters like Call of Duty. The story is seemingly good. There were no subtitles to be enabled and it was difficult to hear dialogue due to gunfire and loud music (which can be adjusted). There's a twist towards the end but I did not really care because I wasn't paying attention (wish I was). But the gameplay is awesome and it really requires careful planning. It's possible to die in one shot, even on the easiest difficulty. There are still people playing this game online too. I found a full match at 1:00AM! Terrorist hunt is also fun. Haven't played coop yet, but the next time my friends come over to play, we're going to have a blast with 4 player split-screen coop. (Not many games nowadays have splitscreen anymore!). So, get this game, whether you are a fan of the series, love FPSes or coop games. I expect more from the upcoming R6 game, "Patriots".
