Refreshing, comedic take on the zombie sub-genre. With surprising emotional depth, particularly in Tallahassee’s search for a twinkie in a post-apocalyptic US.

A film that has almost become as much of a legend as it’s mythical antagonist. While the jerky home-video filming style and the characters’ decisions can be frustrating, The Blair Witch Project almost single-handily kickstarted the found-footage subgenre, filling audiences worldwide with the terrifying sense that this seemed a little too real for fiction.

The usual collection of forgettable characters and bad decisions (it’s in the title), but more than enough excitement and satisfying gore to make it a worthy addition to the redneck-cannibal subgenre.

Substituting the cartoony campness of its predecessors with gritty realism and a glossy (if souless) Gotham, Batman Begins gives us an incredibly convincing insight into the origins of one of the world’s greatest superheroes, complete with the moral contradictions that make Batman so fascinating.

This is by far one of the best of the franchise, the characters, deaths and script just add to the most imaginative movie in the series thanks to director Renny Harlin.

This film is average at best, the highlight being Watts’s convincing central performance. It is entertaining for the first half, however, the second half drags on and lacks any more gore or creepy visuals.

One of the best horror movies ever! Great original plot, creepy villain that stalks you in your dreams, creative deaths and more gore than you can shake a stick at. This movie would have the worst nightmare for 80s kids, you can’t sleep to get away from Freddy Krueger because he would have brutalised you by the next morning. Sadly, ending does take away from the overall movie.

Blurring the line between fiction and reality while throwing in a few effective jumpscares. You’ll never look at a smile the same way again.

Explosive action, cheesy Schwarzenegger one-liners and a cleverly constructed dystopian backdrop with some surprisingly well-observed social commentary thrown in.

An underrated 80s classic full of the kind of laugh out loud, fixer-upper set pieces that will strike fear into the hearts of every prospective house buyer.

Relentless heart-pounding action, memorable characters who you really care for and a beautifully realised relationship between Ripley and Newt.

Cunningly plays on one of the greatest human fears; that of not fitting in. Being different to everyone around you. Knowing something is not quite right but not being able to put your finger on it. Director, writer and producer Jordan Peele expertly builds tension from the moment Chris arrives at the Armitage Estate, intricately weaving in several layers of intrigue and suspense until the shocking reveal.

So here we are again. Michael has come back and has been defeated (again?). Any more ideas of motivation? NO. Do we know more about what goes on in Michael's head? N0. And most importantly of all, do we understand the reason behind his apparent supernatural invincibility? NOPE. What we are left with is another sequel that goes through the motions, rehashing the same traditions and leaving the new trilogy tantalisingly open ended, despite Michael's (latest) gruesome demise.
