14座艾美奖得主，必须得来看一下。剧集质感是有的，但一下子拿这么多奖还是有点过誉了。恐怖和喜剧个人感觉还是更偏喜剧一些。10集里真正有意思的其实就那一两集，甚至有好几集都水的很。

Absolute nonsense from start to finish. Complete garbage and a total waste of time. The whole thing is so pointless and all over the place that it feels like even the creators didn’t know what they were trying to **** entertaining story? No.Something meaningful or thought-provoking? No.A comedy? Not funny.Horror? Not ****’s nothing. Absolutely nothing. Just a complete waste of time.

The writing is garbage. The characters are pure archetypes with no depth whatsoever: from the moment they first appear, you know who's going to do what. The result is zero suspense. Everything is mapped out in advance, it's easy to read between the lines, and you can guess every twist long before it **** acting, on the other hand, is very good: the cast delivers a great performance and almost manages to bring these flat characters to life. The one exception is the actor playing the sheriff, who is frankly **** I don't understand how this series managed to win 14 Emmys, including Best Comedy Series and Best Writing. It's as if the bar is so low that a mediocre show can sweep that many awards. Humanity is truly doomed.

I think the David Fear's Rolling Stone review is accurate. Widow's Bay combines familiar horror tropes with bizarre, clever, lightly satirical humor. The season 1 story arc develops gradually, with more overt humor in the earlier episodes, building towards more dramatic later episodes as the town's history is revealed. The later episodes are still sporadically funny, but it's more subtle and for me sometimes it didn't sink in until later after I thought about the scenes more. Those who have lived on (me) and especially those who grew up on (NOT me) a small island town will probably especially related to the tone, characters and themes. I'm one of the former. While WB is obviously dramatized and exaggerated, it reminds me why I moved away.

Has some fun and clever moments here and there, the actors and performances are fine, yet somehow, it never reaches out of its rather middling impression.

Nice premise but it bored me. I tried really hard to like it but it just bored me. It’s a nonsense storyline. It can be scary in a few spots but it’s not funny. If a horror comedy struggles to be scary it’s not ever going to manage funny. It just made me cringe.

Equal parts Schitt's Creek and American Horror Story, this "dramedy" series gets it right without indulging in the camp or gothic seriousness some shows of this ilk revel in. Even when it is campy, the show gets it refreshingly right. The cast perfectly captures the parochial views of a town stuck in its mysterious past and uneasily adapting to outside influences. The Mayor, played by Emmy Award winner Rhys, appears to tow the line between past and present, veteran resident and facilitator of progress, with a well-earned cynic (and civic) mentality. His nuanced performance makes the horror digestible. His supporting cast, especially Kate O'Flynn, Dale ****, and Stephen Root, create a landscape of believable local lore cemented with a dose of pitch perfect humor. The scares here are genuinely scary and the funny doesn't feel out of place.

Loved the story and how they mixed very clever comedy in it. It must win many awards, they deserve it. Can't wait for season 2. Must watch!!!

Scary. i would not watch some of the episodes close to bed time. That being said, it suffers from the 8-9 episode challenge. Writers of the various episodes do not connect and lose the storyline. It becomes a compendium of horror movie themes, with little correlation of what the main conflict is. I did watch them all though.

This was such a breath of fresh air! Atmospheric, engaging, creepy but surprisingly hilarious! All the characters are memorable and funny. Every episode builds perfectly on the mythology and story. Also, Patricia is the greatest. Like, ever.

Be suited for old-school horror fans that enjoy a very slow-burn. I gave it two episodes of my time and it did not catch my attention at all.

Absolutely loved it…. So refreshing to finally watch something funny, scary, and original. Apple TV please throw money at these people to give me a second season really soon.

It's so rare we get something this good. It's been several years since I was hooked on something to the point of binge-watching it. The cast, acting, script and humour are so on point that I feel like this is going to blow up in a good way. If you like Midnight Mass, Stranger Things (season 1), and Severance then you need to watch this right now. Chef's kisses for everyone involved.

It’s not easy to combine two genres, in this case horror and comedy. Rhys and Root are expertly cast here and if anyone can pull it off it’s them. Otherwise the premise is thin and rather of limited interest. But if the black sheriff isn’t prosecuted for killing Ruth in season 2 then I won’t be watching. OWLM!

Even though it’s set in a fictitious New England village, this series is all over the place. Is it a quirky small-town comedy or a ghost thriller or something else? It’s a bit of all that, but it takes several episodes for any of it to take off. Matthew Rhys stars as the mayor who’s eager to make it the hot new tourist destination, but there’s a curse causing problems. Eventually, that aspect kicks in with a knife-wielding maniac, but that’s all the scares. As for humor, there a cast of familiar quirky types that don’t have a chance to show off their quirk. It includes Kate O’Flynn, Katie Dippold, Dale ****, Stephen Root and Jeff Hiller. So, what’s the deal? In the attempt to be oddly charming, showrunner Katie Dippold has created a compilation of mildly eccentric characters with a convoluted, sprawling story (and I didn’t even get into the teen issues). As a service to you readers, I forced myself to sit thru the entire series and I will say it got better, but still not effective enough to wade thru ten 30–48-minute eps.

Best series of the year so far. Imagine a TV show that blends comedy, drama, mystery, and horror, features remarkable performances, and reminds of classic titles like 'Gilmore Girls,' 'Lost,' 'Jaws,' and 'Twin Peaks.' That's 'Widow's Bay.'

Deff best show of the year. Unique style/feel. Mix of of different genres - Mystery-adventure-comedy, not much of actual horror actually. Characters and town feels quite Lynchian. Great cast, newly discovered talent, Kate O'Flynn was favorite. Looking to see both main cast actors in future movies, they're very capable. There was much more comedy than was anticipating, great sense of humor and delivered comedic timing, Guardians like.

A surprisingly fun series at which I literally laughed out loud more than anything else I've watched this past year, yet also throws in horror and chills that make you want to grab the person next to you on the couch.

The S1 E4 Beach Reads is genuinely the peak of this season. Excellent horror episode. In general, this show worked much better as a horror show compared to the comedic bits which were rather hit and miss.

Widow's Bay has one of my favorite approaches to horror: characters who seem to have watched the same movies we have. When something strange happens, no one decides to go into the dark basement out of curiosity or give a ride to a clearly cursed figure. On the contrary, people try to survive using as much common sense as possible, and that’s exactly where much of the comedy comes **** series strikes a very entertaining balance between the supernatural and everyday absurdity, especially in the first few episodes, which are easily the best of the season. Plus, Widow’s Bay is the kind of fictional town you’d love to live in… until you remember that you’d probably be hunted down by some entity before the week is **** doesn’t get everything right, especially when it tries to explain its mysteries, but just for straying from the traditional horror playbook, it already earns a lot of points. A strange, charming series that’s braver than it seems.

This show feels both eerily terrifying and yet very approachable for those not of the hardcore horror persuasion. It’s also both effortlessly relatable and completely ridiculous, at the same time. It’s fascinating.

Brilliant casting, balance of legit horror and comedy is epic, and the visuals are amazing. I can’t recall the last time I so thoroughly enjoyed a series to this extent!

So few shows feel new, and Widow's Bay manages to clear that threshold from the jump. Rhys again cements his acting ability, in his best role since the Americans. Stephen Root shines as the local sailor and harbinger of local lore. Unsure if they will be able to tie up the various spooky plots but its appointment viewing for me.

I believe every good horror story needs a tiny bit of comedic relief. How much? I assumed a safe dash. I’m so glad that Widows Bay proved me wrong by giving us a bit more, not too much, but a hearty taste that truly works. The seamless blend of horror and comedy is unlike anything else on TV. Better yet, the drops of clues and lore woven throughout the episodes make the island feel truly three-dimensional and make the series fun to rewatch. On second and third watches, I’ve caught things I completely missed the first time. The writer, just like the makeup and music departments along with the actors, has proven they really know ball.

Update: Watched the whole season... it was more interesting and more entertaining as it went on. A little 'out there' and you have to understand this is a bit of a 'ghost story'... if you can live with that - worth your time. It is probably a decently made show - always like Mathew Rhys. This kind of creepy ghost-like stuff - just isnt' my cup of tea.

While the first one or two episodes start out slow, as we get feeling into the show it has genuinely gotten a bit more unsettling. Each week I find myself more and more looking forward to the next episode to expand more on the subtle lore they keep showcasing.

This is so good. Just watch it. It's like if Flanagan and Lynch had a child. Apple TV is on fire!

Love this! The series took me right back to being a kid watching Don Knotts in The Ghost and Mr. Chicken. In a lot of ways, it feels like a grown-up version of that movie—same offbeat, slightly spooky charm, but with a darker, more modern edge.

Only 2 eps in and its my favorite new show easy. An atmosphere that feels unique for once amongst all this formulaic garbage. Funny but serious, steeped in lore and small creepy details. Feels somewhat like a monster of the week show in the best while not being a monster of the week show ( I don't think haha)
