Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has still got it. Kimmy mixes it up with #MeToo, with stellar results.

It uses the creative breathing room to dial up and embrace the show’s inherent weirdness--this is a comedy about a cult survivor, after all--and then have the luxury to bring things back to a relatable, human level again.... [Fey and Carlock] solidified themselves as not just bravura comedy writers--which we already knew they were--but industry risk-takers, too.

A solid silly comedy. Some the jokes fall a little flat, but when it’s hitting its stride, these characters are fantastically entertaining.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt might be better at being Arrested Development at this point than Arrested Development itself. ... The guffaw-per-minute ratio on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt remains very, very high.

What sets the show apart is its tireless, formless, free-flowing pursuit of laughs--and a cast that can ride that wave while also giving some human dimension to what are essentially vaudevillian characters.

The jokes are still, often, wildly funny (and they come densely-packed enough that if you don’t like one, you’ll have all of 15 seconds to wait), but it seems more clear than ever the unpleasant point Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is working toward: That all of us, especially the viewership, are dupes.

The net effect, though, has a slightly tired feel to it--or at least, one that doesn’t feel wholly worthy of Netflix’s premium-TV niche. Indeed, in terms of laughs, the show essentially peaks in its first few minutes.

I think they had good intentions here, but they missed the chance. Kimmy's character being positive 100% of the time goes to a point of being unbearable.
Titus character is always playing the victim, but in way that is depressing. And the landlord lady is always high on something, so she always speaking nonsense.
The fact that there is always a "Disney-esque" violin music in the background and whenever there is a pun or punchline a "Disney-esque" trumpet sounds like saying this is the joke, you should laugh now, is rather insulting than clever. The writers did make an effort because they pulled a joke in every opportunity the plot allowed them, but the execution of the jokes are the problem.
